Learn how to solve absolute value inequalites by creating compound inequalities
👉 Learn how to solve multi-step absolute value inequalities. The absolute value of a number is the positive value of the number. For instance, the absolute value of 2 is 2 and the absolute value of -2 is also 2. To solve an absolute value inequality where there are more terms apart from the absolute value term in the same side of the inequality sign as the absolute value term, we first isolate the absolute value term. i.e. make the absolute value term the subject of the formula.
After isolating the absolute value term, we then create the two cases of absolute value problems: the positive case and the positive case. For the negative case, we flip the inequality sign. This results in a compound inequality which we then solve accordingly and graph our solution on a number line.

i don't know if you read these things, but i'm a substitute with a bunch of areas on the teaching license. I want to add high school math, and if i can teach half as good as yourself i think the students would come alive for math. In minutes i learned things that some of them take weeks to comprehend. (but i'm a geek that way). All teachers should be like you. I'm assuming you are high school? I know it is also what the community college calls precalculus algebra (I used to teach English in Comm at the local one in my area, but i like teaching high school more)
lol these videos are gold during virual learning thank you so much

I wish my teachers could explain like this
You know this is so much better than watching my grade 12 teacher sit in the back of the class on an overhead projector go through the problem in a monotone voice. Saying you should just understand what's going on.
Dear Brianmclogan, if you see modulus as distance and use number line you could have done in 1/4th time, space and labour. It would have been more elementary. Kindly consider
My professor is just over complicating these things. Thank YOU!

I'm a lil confused about the "and/or" thing, isn't that very dependent on which side you happen to choose to write the variable on. For example, using the vid's inequality: A) 3|2x+5|+22 inequality A and inequality B are the same thing, but according to this vid the top inequality would be "and" while the bottom one would be "or". What am I doing wrong?
@linusbao8650
5 жыл бұрын
oh, is it the inequality sign of the isolated absolute value form of the inequality that determines if it's "and" or "or"? That would make sense if so.
man I rlly wish u were my algebra teacher, I mean at least I have this yt account to go to whenever i'm confused 😭 thank you so much
what happens if I have a inequality and at the front of the problem I have 3 + 5 l2x + 3l = 12, would I combine those two terms, or would I subtract 5 and then divide by three
@nx_mo258
2 жыл бұрын
I think its add the like terms first nd then divide 8 by both sides
Lol “that’s a zeee OMG 🙄”.

better than my teacher she just puts up the work and a video that isn't her explaining how to do it but hey that's how I found you
Why did you switch the inequality sign at the end for both equations before graphing? And when do I need to do this.

Senon put that motherfucking phone down this instant
Like if you’re here because most math instructors have trouble understanding that most students in a lower level math class in college are the students who have/had math anxiety and didn’t perform well in high school math classes and that students who do have math anxiety tend to also have interpersonal anxiety and feel like they cannot stop a class to tell a teacher to slow down or go back out of fear of looking stupid so you end up lost during lecture. So you go to KZread to watch videos to understand better and at your own pace. Heyyyy eyyyyyy
Take his phone!
