I love how you started on C, my main lenguage is Spanish and I memorized the notes on Do,re,mi,fa,sol,la and si, so it is so much easier:)
It's 3AM and i have a final exam prepared. I don't even know what an Ocarina is. I've never played an instrument. How did i end up here?

I think we're all here for Ocarina of Time lol
Since I have little to no musical knowledge, I am very proud of myself for being able to play Zelda's lullaby on recorder just from sound.
I bought a recorder at guitar center for 4 dollars, and was having so much fun with it. Brought me right back to 3rd grade me, getting the colors tied on the end for every song that you completed. Just bought my first ocarina, and am so excited to learn something to unique! Can't wait to learn from you!

Try "Can't you see" by The Marshall Tucker band. Blues/country rock intro that you can play on the recorder. Pretty darn close. 👍
Bruh thank you I compose and can play various stringed instruments so safe to say I went into this slightly cocky oh how I was humbled and now your vids are already helping me get to where I want to be I almost forgot to approach this instrument with respect
Another great video Gina! These help so much!
Could you make a video about balancing the ocarina at high notes? It's not exactly intuitive to me how I'm supposed to hold the ocarina while covering none of the holes. Thanks in advance ^^
I just 3d printed one and it works amazingly
Hey! Just found your ocarina tutorials, but I didn't come just to learn to play. I mostly came to learn how to build one! I've been doing pottery lately and wanted to learn how to build one ad your tutorials are helping me to know which hole to make first! Thank you so much!
Awesome video, thank you so much! I will definitely be picking up an Ocarina for myself!
Beautiful little instrument i cannot wait to get one and start learning
thank you for your videos. just got my first ocarina. best videos i found so far

Amazing! Glad this video was helpful :)
I just got an ocarina (on amazon but will look on STL lol) and this video has absolutely helped! I will be subscribing and checking them all out. I pulled the trigger on getting one and your vids will be a great help!
Thank you for this, I’ve wanted to learn the ocarina for nearly 3 years now!! 😀👍
The "two" tip really helped for making my notes sound so much better. Thanks!
I got a 4 hole ocarina for Christmas and im learning to play as I'm only 7 :)
I have an STL ocarina (Ocarina of the Crystal Wilds is the exact one I have) and I've been looking for resources to learn how to play it better. I'm coming from flute to ocarina. Thank you so much for this video, I'm so grateful for this advice.
I am BEYOND EXCITED right now! Someone gave me an ocarina last night and I was trying to hold it with both my hands pointed up😂 but this video was so helpful in teaching me the basics. I've wanted an ocarina for almost a year since I first learned about them. Thanks SO much for your helpful video. The pacing was perfect, repeating the scale a few times. Now I will play around with what I learned! I'm so excited!
Thanks a lot for the this! I'm learning a lot from your videos. I learned the scale from the first version of this video, and while it is very good, this is better. Particularly the "who" and "Tu" thing, and the recommendations for your other videos. I'm learning Zelda's Lullaby from one of your other videos, and this one here helped me get through that first section just now. Also, thanks for the STL Ocarina tip. It sounds much better than the first one I bought, and has more comfortable finger positions.

So says many words that do not appear thanks for the learning and confidence ! Hope this is the one comment you see& see from me.
The ocarina is my favorite instrument 🥰🎶🎵 I think I have 40 now... A whole lot 😂 My favorite songs to play on my ocarinas are Zelda songs 😀 After all, who would get an ocarina and not play a Zelda song or two on it for their first songs...? Zelda made the ocarina popular, and I found out about the ocarina from Zelda as well, so ocarinas and Zelda are quite synonymous with each other (When you think of ocarinas, you probably think of Zelda 😊)
I got the same one you have, just arrived today. Been using that amazon ocarina of time for years but now I can finally use a good one. I gotta get used making sound on this one.
Thank you! Very helpful!
I bought two Ocarina. I'm going to give them a go. I'll follow your stuff and see how far I can go.

I just got an ocarina earlier today. I used to be able to play piano and viola, but due to health problems, it is too painful to play them for long. I am very, very excited to be able to play music again! (Also, the editing of this video looked great! It must've taken quite a while.)
Hi, is it still ok if the notes sound just one note lower? If not, please let me know. Thank you!
I'm really on edge on which of the stl zelda ocarinas to buy, like the plastic one or one of the two 60 dollar ceramic ones, shipping to my country is expensive tho, so I might only get one. Which one do you recommend? I've played wind instruments and brass instruments for 10+ years so I do have note experience and blowing and breathing technique.
My dog freaked out every time you blew into the ocarina during the start lmao
ThNk you so much.

It is a very good video, i just figured my ocarina makes a very weird sound as soon as i loosen my thumbs holes and i don't know why
Gina, have you reviewed STL's ocarina named Destiny? I'm wanting to get one because it looks like with the handling it may be easier on my wrists (I have carpal tunnel) and was looking for a few reviews before taking the plunge? Or do you maybe have any other ocarinas you could suggest? Thank you for any help!! :) P.S. I love your videos!!
Hi do you by chance have a tutorial for a ocarina with 9 holes? I just bought one and I can't really find any tutorial on it and i would love to have something to build on.

Update? I have an Amazon ocarina in my cart but you may have just saved me a lot of frustration
I bought the 12 hole double octave ocarina, would you say it's too difficult to learn for a beginner?
what if you're left-handed & might naturally gravitate to have that exact hand position, reversing dominate positionthat you demonstrate. only mirror image. I play stringed instruments & keyboard. Ambidextrous w/some things but seems, without benefit of a physical one, my hand position seems to do the exact thing only w/the other hand, dunno w/o actually having one in hand, which I plan to acquire. The one you are holding is beautiful. Can't wait to get one. Does printed music appear as in ? keyboard notes on a music staff.
I have questions please. why do my high notes sound weird? when the ocarina is not the problem why do going from high notes to low notes or low notes to high notes breaking the sound? can I fix it?
Didn't grab STL stuff seeing as I'm kinda short on cash even WITH the discount. But it's 12 hole. So it should work with this tutorial right?
Hi there! All of my notes sound a little bit flatter than yours. Do you think it’s a breathing technique thing or something else?
I have a brand new STL ocarina (Ember F Alto) and no matter what I do it sounds like a whistle :/ I'm brand new to it, but even following your videos about breathing and sound, I can't get it to sound right. It has a sort of Whistle to it, no matter how I adjust the airflow. I really wanna get it to sound good... I've heard how it sounds in your videos and its beautiful...
Tried going to STL to bookmark it for later to get a better instrument after learning how to play the one I got not long ago, first cheaper one for learning second better one for 'real' play type of thing, but my computer wouldn't allow me to go there giving me a not safe warning. Why would it do that?
Hello, I've recently taken up learning Ocarina, and your videos have helped out a lot, but I do have a question. To explain, I am struggling to be able to play the note A, as shown here. For some reason, I simply cannot lift my ring finger by itself to be able to get the note. Every other note is fine, but for A, lifting my ring finger alone is a challenge, as if my finger were 'locked'. Is there something (such as an exercise or technique) that can be done to resolve this in some way? Or am I perhaps just 'doomed to never play A' as it were?

Unless this is some sort of structural issue with your hand it's likely just a proprioception thing. Related/unrelated I used to not be able to raise my right big toe off the ground without the other toes coming off the ground as well. With practice and concerted effort in 'feeling' that toe, I was able to do it. Good luck!
@DarkBlueToilet
7 ай бұрын
@@bobsacamano4 It is possible that I have (or lack) a double joint in my hand that may also cause the issue, but proprioception could also be a culprit here. I'll have to try the method you mentioned with your big toe and see if it can eventually lead to success. Thanks for the input!
I got mine from Amazon, sounds great, and I see the page you linked sells the same one too, so Im confused
When I remove my fingers from my left hand it sounds like air is that the instrument or me
Honestly I got my ocarina so long ago in fact I found it today it was just randomly in my closet probably sitting there for years never knew how to play but how it's held is a little uncomfortable but I think I will ease into it and learn how to play after 6 or 7 years maybe it was so long ago that I don't even remember when I got it but all I can remember is I got it for a birthday because obviously I love ocarina of time

I have 2 12 hole C major ocarinas and I also have a B flat can the B flat be played with C major material but it will a lower pitch? Thank's.
@ZeldaACFan17
Жыл бұрын
The fingerings will be the same if the B flat ocarina is the same style (12-hole transverse or 4 to 6 hole pendant for example), so the only differences will be the pitch and how much air is needed to play the notes 🙂 You'd just have to learn which fingering is for which note on your B flat ocarina compared to the standard C major key 😉
I played the flute for a little bit then I tried trumpet now I'm ordering a ocarina (I sucked at trumpet and was decent at flute)
I got the Amazon legend of Zelda one and thank god it came with a song book

I've been trying to learn to play the ocarina off and on for several years. I recently concentrated on learning properly. Unfortunately, when I practice the songs in the instructional booklet, I devote myself to trying to make the songs sound like something familiar as much as practicing moving my fingers from note to note. And practicing the scales just wasn't doing it for me. I don't know of any songs that are composed solely of the scales. Sigh. Then the other day, I was looking through all of my song books for songs to practice. I don't like the 12 hole ocarina as it hurts my wrists and fingers. I have arthritis. So I have 6 hole pendant ocarinas. So I needed songs in that range. One of my books has something called "Studies." It switches from note to note in "studies" as if they were songs. I found them easier to use to learn how to play because they don't sound like real songs. Interestingly, the song book isn't for learning to play the ocarina. It's for learning to play pan pipes. The name of the book: "You Can Teach Yourself Pan Flute," by Costel Puscoiu. It's one of the many music instructional books put out by Mel Bay. It contains not only "Studies," but regular songs, too, everything from classical pieces (Beethoven, Dvorak, Bach, etc.) to children's songs to carols/hymns to folk music. Now, please excuse me. It's time to practice the studies on my ocarina.
My breathing on the ocarina is so bad how do I fix that?😅
I bought an ocarina yesterday, a cheaply made clay ocarina that i now know was probably overpriced 😅 I'm thinking of buying a proper one instead
