PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION - This painting tutorial will take you through easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this beautiful seascape portraiture image of "KIDS ON A BEACH" with acrylic paint. What can be more heartwarming than bringing your kids to the beach and watching them run around, play in the sand, build sandcastles and splash in the ocean? The smile on their faces, the spring in their step, and the giddiness in their giggles, are all precious memories to hold on to for a lifetime. This endearing waterscape painting is meant to invoke sentiment and inspire creativity. Try to imagine your favorite beach that you would love to bring the little ones to; perhaps Cape Cod, Daytona, Malibu, Virginia, or Hampden, or anywhere else where you can catch some rays, relax and watch the kids play. Image the sounds of the seagulls, the ocean waves crashing and people laughing, the smells of barbeque and suntan lotion, and sight of the endless ocean and everyone having a good time. This painting has it all. The first lesson you’ll learn in this easy painting lesson is how to use simple painting techniques for blending the background for added depth and atmospheric dimension, using natural tropical ocean colors to create a warm and inviting feel to your canvas, the perfect day to go to the beach and bask in the sun, have a picnic, and watch the little children play in the sand. Then you’ll use a drybrush technique to create form to your gentle ocean waves for your toddlers to leap into. Then, after using a pencil to draw the outline for the children’s bodies, you’ll learn how to mix colors to create a skin tone of your preference which you will use to paint a base coat on your kids. The next art tip you’ll learn in this canvas painting lesson is how to create realistic looking dimension with properly placed highlights and shadows on the bodies of the young girl and boy to create contour and form, followed by layering colors to give your adorable brother and sister an impressionistic style realistic 3-D effect like a photograph. Then you’ll use these same techniques when painting hats and bathing suits. The simple painting methods and process can easily be used to customize this ocean scape painting. You could add more kids to the scene and have the whole Brady Bunch playing together, add more drama to the scenery by painting a sunrise or sunset, have the children sitting building sandcastles, paint your pet that you would bring to the beach, or a boat sailing by! Canvas: 16x20 stretched primed canvas
Brushes: 3/4 inch flat bristle (large), #5 round synthetic (medium) #2 round synthetic (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, cobalt blue, deep yellow, burnt umber (brown) phthalo green and fluorescent pink
Other: #2 pencil, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 3/4 inch bristle brush - Paint base coat for water and beach sand with white, green, blue, yellow and brown
2. 3/4 inch bristle brush - Finish water and sand with ocean blue (made in step 1), green, yellow, white and brown
3. pencil - Draw outline for kids
4. #5 round brush - Paint base coat for kids with yellow, white, brown, blue, pink
5. #2 round brush - Finish skin with black, white, brown, and skin tone (made in step 4)
6. #2 round brush - Finish girl’s clothing with light pink (made in step 4), pink, white, and brown
7. #2 round brush - Finish boy’s clothing with blue, black, white
8. #2 round brush - Finish bucket and shovel with black, brown, white, orange (made in step 4) and yellow
9. #5 round brush - Paint shadows and reflection on the sand of the kids with skin tone, orange, blue, light pink, white, black and brown
10. #2 round brush - Sign with brown

Hello again Michelle. I am from the east coast. And my mother would take my brother and me to beach when we were about that age. And then the tide would start to come in people would move back and back and back to the shore. But we sure wouldn’t be holding hands. We’d be making a mad dash for the water. Sorry just reminiscing. Hi Michelle. I tried this the other night. It turned out OK but I found their legs reslly difficult and kind of ruined it. Also I had a problem mixing the colours. I love watching ypur tutorials. By the way. I live in Ireland and, believe it or not, we had 3 weeks glorious sunshine in June. Mind you, it has rained every single day since the kids broke up from school for the "summer" holidays!!!!
