I have made some research and it turns out it's better to use shielded cable, such as UL2547. The shielding is supposed to have contact with the metal "cages", which are placed around the connectors in this video. Such practice would prevent the cable from working as antenna and spreading electromagnetic interference.
Instead of removing the yarn string (core) out first, you could just tie one end of it to the paracord and as you pull out the yarn it will pull in the cable. Makes the process a lot faster and easier.

If the cable just barely fits that might not work though

@@___echo___ Strip 2 cm and attach the yarn to the inner wires, then pull, will work a treat, even if tight.

You are wise. definitely will work and save time. If the cable just barely fits, that is all the more reason why you will need to pull it through. Similar to how electricians pull cables through conduits. This technique would be mandatory in a longer run. You have to pull it through and that yard core is very strong.
Another quality video. Truly one of the most underrated channels, keep up the good work!

i like your use of that clip for soldering the wires to the usb pinouts. i'm gonna have to do that from now on. always felt awkward trying to use helping hands on their own
Don't be afraid of putting enough flux paste/gel on the pins before soldering tinned wires to them. Blips/bumps will look much better. Otherwise the oxydation does its job and it is difficult to solder.
I show the intro to my uncle who use to film everything on vhs, and he didn't get it.. great video and even better intro!
Quality video. I just got some parts in for my first cables and I was wondering if one would use a crimping tool for the connector but this is yet another video in which the maker just used pliers. I guess that's sufficient then.
Great video. I would use an Ohm meter to check continuity between the cable ends before plugging it into anything. Only takes a couple minutes and there's no risk.
someone deserves a lot of subs
Hi sir, thanks for the video! Managed to make my own coiled cable following your other guide. You may want to use acetone to remove the printed labels on the black heatshrink. :)

Here before this guy gets famous
Hey! first, thank you for this very detailled and well filmed instruction! One question, would you recommend using exactly this parts, also for a coiled cable? I'm not sure about the thickness of the cable but these seem to be the standard right?
Thanks for the video, I have been trying to create a C-C cable for my macbook. Seems like my usb-c connectors not the right one as it does absolutely nothing Both 5.1k resistor and 56k ohm resistor type connector is fine? was not clear for me from the video. I would appreciate if u could tell something about this.
@fizo can you go into detail about the note mentioned that said a 56k ohm resistor would be necessary in between pins 2 and 3 for the usb C soldering job. I'm thinking that is an important detail that nobody fully understood. Do you buy it with the resistor pre installed? What is the purpose of it and what are the purchasing options, or when do we need it? Did your cable have one? Sorry if this has been discussed already or if some of my facts are wrong.
great video! btw what is that headphones at the start of the video?
Hi! The quality of your video as well as your craftsmanship is just topnotch. You probably don't mess with macbooks, but could you make a video for the mag safe 2 chargers? They are notorious for terrible quality and breaking apart after a few years...
May I know what temp you use for the heat gun when installing the heat shrink ?
tell me how to connect two typec as you have in your video ... so that such a cable works correctly?
What’s the different between a 4P usb-c and the OTG type usb-c?
hey, do you know why the usb c shell closes only on one side? I can't seem to figure out why
As expected, another quality content, Ian! 🙂 I still prefer the voice over though. 😅

Can the cable charge with 100watts? Is it possible to change the typ a 2.0 with a 3.1 or would the charge speed suffer 🤔 this days it's extremely confusing with all the pd charge 3.1 charge quick charge ect. 😕 I need to make a lightweight cable for my ts80p soldering iron and be compatible with a pd charger.
Does this cable support data transfer from day pc to phone or pc to HDd?
What's the cable thickness? 5mm is too thick for 550 paracord, should I get 4.3 or 3.6mm? 1st one is shielded.
🖖 👍
can i use sneakers lace instead of paracord
My cable does not work with a phone charger, do I want the USB C with the chip?
Does the wire have to be soldered first everytime?

Hello Fizo, thanks for the video :) i managed to make a coiled cable with your other tutorial !! It went great but i think the cable is a bit loose even after the reverse coiled. what should i do ? heat it again after the reverse coiled ? thanks :)

Or can i reverse coild twice ?
@FIZOdigital
3 жыл бұрын
You might have to heat the cable more or longer. Anyway, if you have reverse coiled already. I suggest to reverse it again, which is technically brings it back to normal, coil it back into the tube, heat the cable again, let it cool and then do the reverse coil. :) HTH.
@5babou5

@@FIZOdigital Thank you for your answer, i will do that :). BTW, why you dont heat the cable after the coil ?
Why double sleeve? And why white over red? (instead of, like, red over white, looks better IMHO)
Nice video, if you could only cut every part to half because it is not necessary to show putting in the shrink tube or adjusting the soldering pen and so on. The video would be 5min instead of 10min. All in all, keep it up!

@Teo, No - if the cable is wired incorrectly, it just won't work - won't cause any damage
what are the chances my keyboard will get damaged if i do it wrong?
@Lazulcat
Жыл бұрын
as long as you dont mix up your power and data wires you should be okay... you want to aim for a 90 Ohm imppendence for USB, you can test this with an ohm meter (usually a mode on your voltmeter) but if its outside that range it shouldnt damage your keyboard i imagine it would just not work right
Unfortunately this is no USB cable as it is clearly out of spec, especially regarding the lack of shielding and drain wire. A quote from the USB 2.0 Spec (Rev. 2.0) says "Cable construction must contain a braided outer shield and a metallic inner shield. A drain wire of 28 AWG must be incontact with both shields" Furthermore, a USB Type-C to USB 2.0 Standard-A Cable Assembly shall have (according to 3.5.2, Note 5 of USB Type C Spec Rev. 2.2) shall have "Shield and GND grounds [...] connected within the USB Type-C and USB 2.0 Standard-A plugs on both ends of the cable assembly"
