    As I am a native German speaker and have learnt a few other languages I have to tell you those words are really difficult to use. One rule: The general meaning of the sentence is not changed if you drop them. However, your personality in the sentence's meaning is missing. This subtle but important meaning towards a friend is missing. I can imagine it can be really hard to learn this.The German language is like a sword. But if you know about the use of modal particles it can become a scalpel.

    I believe this is one of the most important topics that one must learn in order to speak like a native speaker. I was always uncertain what these words meant. Thanks to this video, now i finally know,

    All through A1 and A2, she was using modal particles in the recorded dialogues, for which I'll be eternally grateful even though I didn't understand why I was using the chunk; she teaches chunks. Before I went to this academy I tried an expensive school because I thought they would have everything I need. Well, in the USA, the more money you spend, the more you're supposed to get; except it isn't true. It's the "big-ass-mistake" they really meant. I spent less for this school and got way more. The way they do it is exactly how people learn their native language & it's the only way I can learn it. You learn to speak before writing.\

    Modalpartikeln -Die Modelpartikeln benutzt man normalerweise in der gesprochenen Sprache -Sie drücken Emotionen und Haltungen von dem Sprecher aus und können eine Aussage verstärken oder abschwächen -Sie stehen nie am Satzanfang, sondern meistens in der Mitte. aber (Überraschung) - Surprise ja (Überraschung) - Surprise ja (Selbstverständliches) - sth obvious bloß (Verstärkung einer Emotion) - enhance an emotion etwa (Erstaunen über eine Tatsache) - Astonishment over a fact denn (freundliches Interesse) - friendly interest denn (Negative Überraschung) - not pleasantly surprised mal (höfliche Bitte) - polite request wohl (die Vermutung) - guess/assumption eigentlich (das Interesse) - interest eigentlich (einen spontanen Einfall) - a spontaneous idea eben (Resignation) - feeling of sth unpleasant that cannot be changed halt (Resignation) - feeling of sth unpleasant that cannot be changed doch (der Ratschlag) - advice doch (Unmut) - displeasure doch (Nachdrücklichkeit) - Insistence doch (Hoffnung auf Zustimmung) - Hope on Agreement vielleicht (Unsicherheit) - Uncertainty

    If you were to look at a German Grammar Table of Contents, where would you put "German Modal Particles"/Modalpartikel or Abtönungspartikel or any sort under "Partikel" in the German grammar, where would you put them? Would they all be under "Adverbs" or "Sentence Structure"? I'm trying to reorganize/reclassify/recategorize my notes better in their rightful spots according to their Grammar, so where would I classify them under? Or are Modal Particles their own separate thing?!

    For the last übung, can we also say "etwa"? As in, "Hör etwa diese Musik!"

  • @dasmiauz

    @dasmiauz

    3 жыл бұрын

    No. Only the word "mal" works here because you recommend something. "etwa" is more a question. You can use it like this: "Hörst du etwa diese Musik?" but with "etwa" you express it in a way that you are very surprised that this person listens to this particular music.
