You say "S'il vous plaît" when trying to get somebody's attention, or when you want to call for a waiter at a restaurant. "Excusez-moi" is used when you want to say you are sorry, wether for hurting someone's feelings, hurting them physically or bumping into them accidentally. Basically, when you're at fault. Hope that helps!

I have four weeks to learn all this French for a project in school. THUMBS UP IF U THINK THIS IS WRONG

This teacher says not to use "Je suis desole" if you bump into someone on the street; over on the Top 25 Phrases video, the teacher lists "Je suis desole" and gives the example of saying this if you bump into someone on the street.... Contradiction!

In Belgium, we use 's'il vous plait' also when we give cash back or something else to someone. For example, if i share my coke with my wife, i tell "S'il te plait".

It's worth noting that if you're female, you'd write "Je suis desolée" it's pretty much pronounced the same though.

Think of whenever you'd say 'I'm sorry' in English as opposed to a quick sorry. It can either be said in a very sincere conversation or if you make a small mistake. Pretty much it works any time, pardon is more for apologizing for little things or running into someone, of getting someone's attention
