    I’ve read the book many times, both in English and Romanian (my native language) and I’ve watched all the movies and the series. I’m loving Jane Austen’s novel for more than two decades. Still, this just entered directly in my personal top 3. Excellent work!

    This is a heavily shortened and redacted version. For easy consumption, I suppose. The original text is more elaborate and has more angles. However, this will do for learners of English but may leave the finer points of the novel untouched.

    Not happy about the language changes of iconic phrases!

  • @averagewoman6962
    @averagewoman69622 жыл бұрын

    The listener should be aware that this narrative has been messed around for no good reason. In.a text intended for learning, it is excusable to simplify some of the language but it was completely ridiculous to change feet and inches to meters and centimetres. What for? The change adds nothing to the understanding of the story while leading the unaware reader into the mistake of believing that anyone in England understood what a meter or a centimetre was at that time. Since metric measurements were not used in England until the late 20th century, use of them in this context is as silly and out of place as describing one of the girls using a zip to close her dress.

    I can't believe that someone had the audacity to rewrite/modernize the writing of Jane Austen. Really? The magic and music of her language is gone in this adaptation.
