I've found some children stories on Spotify. There's a playlist called "Historier for børn". There's singing, conversations, etc. I find this more interesting then emotionless podcast monologues.

Re music in Danish, I would recommend listening to the song Hr Oluf (Lirik Asynje Danish folk song with lyrics) and the Skáld song ElverHøy (it’s more like Danish / Norwegian mix) which are two of the prettiest songs in Danish, and for Norse and Icelandic and Faroese etc I recommend listening to all the other Skáld songs like Óðinn and Grótti and Fluga and Rún and SæKonungar and Níu etc and the folk songs in Faroese and Icelandic which are also real awesome with some of the prettiest melodies and lyrics, and for Gothic I recommend listening to the songs with lyrics in Gothic which can be heard by typing ‘Gothic lyrics Inweita’ and ‘Gothic hun Latin’ etc which are super epic as well, and there are a few more, but it’s true that it’s not easy to find pretty songs, in general, but luckily I have found most of the pretty songs that were made that are on yt, and I have included many of them in my playlists - I highly recommend learning Danish together with the other prettiest languages ever Norse / Gothic / Icelandic / Faroese / English / Dutch / Norwegian / Welsh / Breton / Cornish as they are equally gorgeous and are way too pretty not to know! (I am learning all these gorgeous languages and many other target languages, and I am advanced level in Icelandic and Norwegian and upper intermediate level in Norse and upper advanced level in Dutch etc, and I have been trying to learn more Danish and Gothic and Faroese etc lately as I am beginner level in these languages, though I can actually understand most of the new words, so it should be pretty easy!)

The childrens book example works great if you have kids that you can read the books with (for example your own kids, or a niece or nephew). When you read the book aloud with children the story really comes to life and the kids will often point to pictures and ask you to explain things in Danish.

hej, jeg lærte latin, fordi far lærte det. Så begyndte jeg at lære irsk, fordi min bedstefar var flydende i irsk (jeg vil altid conitue at lære på irsk jeg foretrækker det). Så begyndte jeg at lære norsk, hollandsk og dansk, fordi der er tv-shows og dokumentarfilm på disse sprog. men i modsætning til irsk har jeg ikke til hensigt at tale på disse sprog hello i was learning latin because Dad taught it. Then i began to learn Irish because my grandfather was fluent in Irish (i will alway conitue to learn in Irish i prefer it). Then i began learning Norwegian dutch and danish because there are tv shows and documentaries in those languages. but unlike Irish i do not intend to speak in those languages

Re learning methods, I would recommend focusing mostly on vocab videos in general, especially vocab videos with hundreds and thousands of words, and learning as many thousands of words as one can automatically, by regularly revising each word, until each word can be instantly processed and automatically remembered, and also learning from lyrics, and always watching every video with subtitles in the target languages, and learning multiple pretty languages at the same time, as it’s the most efficient way to learn languages that can save many years and also the most fun way to learn languages, so I highly recommend learning learning the heavenly Norse / Gothic / Icelandic / Faroese / English / Dutch / Norwegian / Danish / Welsh / Breton / Cornish together, plus other Germanic and Celtic languages and Latin etc can also be learnt on the side, as one can learn many pretty and easy languages at the same time, and I am learning 25+ of my target languages at the moment, though I focus mostly on the prettiest languages ever created, including the Norse languages - by the way, with languages such as Danish, one must also practice pronunciation a lot, because Danish pronunciation can be quite complicated and the Danish accent is not easy to imitate, the the Danish accent being almost as hard to imitate as the German accent, but lucky most other Norse / Germanic / Celtic languages have accents that are very easy to imitate, including the Norse / Gothic / Icelandic / Welsh / Breton / Cornish / Manx / Irish / Scottish Gaelic / Dutch accents which are as easy to imitate as the neutral American accent! (I am learning the Danish accent from that Danish song Hr Oluf as it sounds real good and also the accent from those songs from Little Mermaid cartoon as that singer also has a pretty Danish accent!)

I have been trying to learn danish (have only been using duolingo and watching movies so far) and your tips have motivated me so much. Tak! I am nervous about visiting the country, are the people friendly? Will they be upset if my danish is poor?

mange tak! hvor er du sød 😊 you dont have to be nervous, Danes will appreciate your efforts, but I believe the vast majority of Danes speak English pretty good, so you will not have any troubles whatsoever. People are friendly in general, but at the same time I would say that they are a bit reserved. I believe if you get lost in the city, they will definitely help you out, but not all of them will be ready for smalltalk, if you know what I mean 😅 I hope you will really enjoy your staying in Denmark 🌟

It usually takes five to ten years for one to be able to understand almost everything or most of the things that natives say in other languages, as natives tend to speak very fast and use a lot of slang and idioms etc, so, for one to understand most of the spoken language, one has to know over thirty thousand base words automatically with their pronunciation and spelling in each language (plus all the idioms and slang and phrases etc) and be very used to how they sound in a sentence when spoken fast and without being properly enunciated and articulated, though there are some speakers that have higher and lighter voices that are naturally clearer and easier to understand and that tend to enunciate each syllable and speak in very clear way, especially the speakers that teach the languages on yt, so I can usually understand almost everything they say when they speak clearly even at an upper intermediate level or advanced level, though I cannot understand most of what most natives say in general yet - I am upper advanced level in Dutch and advanced level in Icelandic and Norwegian and upper intermediate level in Norse and German and mid intermediate level in Welsh and Swedish and Portuguese and Italian and French and beginner level in Danish and Gothic and Faroese and Cornish and Latvian and Breton and most of my other target languages, and I can actually understand a lot more than I thought I would understand at these levels, plus I can understand most of the new written text in these languages and when I read the subtitles I can understand over 95% of the words in most videos, especially in the languages I’m advanced level in!

That’s interesting, because I am also learning all these pretty languages, and, by the way, re speaking and pronunciation and accent, Icelandic and Gothic and Norse and Dutch and Welsh are the most fun to speak and the most fun to learn, so I highly recommend learning them all together with Norwegian and Forn Svenska and Danish and Breton and Cornish and Manx and Irish and Scottish Gaelic (most Gaelic words are the same or almost the same as the Irish words, so it’s easy to learn the different Gaelic words together with the Irish words) as they are the prettiest languages ever created that are as pretty as English and way too pretty not to know, and, for Dutch, I recommend learning the prettiest Dutch accent which is the accent that has the soft Gs and the unique vowel sound that’s between a normal E sound and a normal A sound that is used before the i / y sound in words like fijn / trein / pijn etc and the soft Rs (the soft normal R at the beginning of the word and the Americanized R aka de gooise R at the end of the word and in the middle of the word) as speaking Dutch with this accent is real fun and it sounds so awesome and so cool and so modern like English and Welsh and Icelandic etc, and, Danish can also be fun to speak if one is fluent and has developed the right Danish accent, but not that fun as a beginner or intermediate, because the Danish accent is not easy to imitate, and it takes a lot of practice and knowing each word automatically with its pronunciation and spelling, but the other languages are also fun to speak as a beginner or intermediate because they have the accents that are the easiest to imitate that are as easy to imitate as the neutral American accent - I am learning 25+ languages at the moment, and focusing mostly on these languages, and I am also learning Latin and Proto Germanic and Hungarian and Latvian and Slovene and Portuguese etc, and I am advanced level in Icelandic and Norwegian and upper advanced level in Dutch and upper intermediate level in Norse etc, and I am learning Icelandic and Gothic and Norse almost every day, as they are super fun, plus the Celtic languages, and the other Norse / Germanic languages, as I am learning them all!
