    Hi, Mike. Parker here. There's something else you are doing to help people learn Chinese: You are showing what a modern Chinese city looks like up close and personal, while you walk through it and speak with any and all who come your way. China looks different than US cities, but it is not threatening, and the people are so friendly. I am going to learn Chinese (I have a friend in Beijing) and go there to enjoy China the same way you do. Maybe some day we could meet there and talk a little. Thanks for showing us what it's like being there.

    Mike, when you speak English, you sound British. When you talk to Chinese, are you speaking Cantonese or Mandarin? I believe some people have a gift for learning foreign languages. I met a bus driver in Toronto who spoke Tamil when he picked up Sri Lankan passengers, Tagalog when he picked up Filipinos, Cantonese, and Mandarin when he picked up Chinese. He also spoke English since he was born in Toronto, Canada, and Quebecois French. I asked him how did he learn so many languages? He said he learned by hearing people speak them.

    Thank you for helping motivate people and giving a path. I would like add this; if you're going to study language, you can't escape the hours. You have to put in the hours. It doesn't have to be all at one time. But if you think about how many hours a 5 year old has been exposed to learning how to speak, and then a 10 year old, you can start to see. You have to treat yourself like a newborn and work your way up. Most people basically level off at around 12-13 learning their native language and most of the rules. So "catching up" to a native speaking seems like a long journey, but a child growing up is living their life WHILE learning the language. While a person learning a new language is dedicating hours just to language. So you can "get there" but it will take hours (300-700). And "interactive" hours like you did, is even better. For me Japanese was hard because it's SO much information to take in-but pronunciation wasn't that bad. But now I'm doing French and pronunciation and understanding what I hear is the challenge.

  • @mikeraynaldo3454

    @mikeraynaldo3454

    10 ай бұрын

    Excellent. Learning a language especially Chinese of Japanese isn't quite easy coz the tones are crazy. You must put in the hours. With more regular practice out there, you'll be there before you know it. Good luck pals.

    I always kept telling myself well my pronunciation is sucks even the tones I can’t do them I can’t study Chinese but I kept trying few months later I finished them and I needed to stop cause of school u know last year of school u need to stop everything and just study , after finishing school the first thing I did is that I started reviewing pinyin and learn Chinese XD / and just in 16 days I finished Hsk1 I put so much hard work on it and now I’m done with half of hsk2 all in 25 day instead of studying a lot of stuff I focused on making sure that I remember the words well and know how to use them I gave it as much focus and hard work as I gave to my school studies XD at the same time I try enjoy learning it I chat with my friends everyday trying to use the new words I learned also listen to people speaking Chinese and search for the new words that catched my attention and try to use them later listening to song also helps me I enjoy singing at the same time I learn new words without realizing reading people’s posts and opening WeChat’s short videos also helps me to read and listen at the same time have fun learning

Not one of those "I love the Chinese people. I just hate the Chinese government". No, any hate in your evil heart will not do.

    And what if you can’t or don’t really have any Chinese people in your city. That kinda defeats the not sitting on your bed. Honestly I understand what you’re saying but I feel like it’s not explained in full understanding. How did you learn, where did you start. You had to of started with single words. But how do you know what words mean what when a lot of the words mean the same. Chi has like 90 different meanings unless you add another piece but how is it understood. And if you learn Japanese can you Atleast understand some Chinese. Most of my learning comes from anime but nundo n Nani have different ways of expression. So yes it will take years to learn but when your limited what is the direction. You’re speaking from mid way. Explain as if you got nothing to work with

    Hey, some of the Chinese people are nice to you. But I see the looks others make towards you or about you that are not so nice. And as a black woman I would be afraid to live around those people. Maybe it’s just a few of them that are racists but that would be enough for me to leave.

    I suspect if you are friendly and sincere, they will respond in kind Remember you are their guest and they do not need to please you or get to know you But it is important for us to make the first move to get to know the community Chinese people have been bullied, colonised, plundered so many times that they are suspicious particularly on Americans and Westerners, as CIA director recently announced that CIA is active within China
