Thanks buddy great video. I'm in prison and bought a deck of cards that turned out to be a Spanish deck of 48 cards. But I recall playing this game with a childhood friend over 15 years ago and needed a refresher. 👍🏼

I already know how to play but needed a video to show somebody and this was great! I like that you used a “standard” deck to keep it simple for learning, also the whole presentation and visuals were very professional. Wish you good luck with growing your channel, you’re definitely on the right track.

Thanks so much for the kind words! I hope to help keep more legacy games alive through these videos.
In recent years i've forgotten all my previous briscola skills but some of my fondest memories are of playing it with my ancient zio. Can't wait to introduce my non-italian friends to this game now

You make some quality videos. Wish I had your skill, but I haven’t worked as long or as hard as you have, so my videos will always be inferior. I’m so glad to see people trying to bring card games back.

If youre playing for points and get the black hand do you get 120 points? (Love these videos btw)
@Play-In-Games

Great question! Typically the “black hand” is only given for winner take all games. When playing for an overall point goal, it’s usually ignored. However you can award a “black hand” bonus for points games. Just make sure to announce that before play to avoid disagreements. I’ve played a 40 point bonus (like the first bonus in the “married couple” variation). This gives you a nice advantage but keeps it fair. Almost every Italian has variations so best to agree on game play before starting. Thanks for watching!
I have always been taught that the game is to 120 as that is the total of all the points in the deck. and played 3 out of three to win. I do not understand why 150 or 170 total points, it does not make sense to me. Please explain.

Hello! Yes you are correct, many people play by the winning number per round wins that round and the best 2 out of 3 rounds wins. Other people like to write down the number of points they won per hand and the game is won by the first person to exceed 150 (or 300) points at the end of a round. In this way it's not the best 2 out of 3 hands, rather a race to the set point number. Give it a try, both are great ways to play. Thanks for watching and keep playing!
Nice game buddy i used to play this game with my friends at Rome and my gradparents too thx for this tutorial.I have a question If i play with spanish cards îs this a problem? BYE!

Yes you can absolutely play with Spanish cards, I’ve played Brisca with Puerto Rican friends. It’s the Spanish/Portuguese version and the decks are basically interchangeable. Just make sure you’re using only 40 cards, no 8,9 and 10s. Thanks for watching!
What does an Italian pack of cards look like? What is missing if there are only 40 cards instead of 52? When I was a child in the 50's and 60's my granny stayed with us. Every week my aunts and uncles and cousins all came for dinner. Afterwards the adults used to play cards and us kids were sent out to play in the garden or in winter to another room to play.

Check out my newest video, it’s all about Italian cards. Hope it helps. Thanks for watching!
Hey, I have a question about Briscola that I can't find the answer to anywhere: Is it allowed for a player to look through their captured-card pile before playing their turn? We were playing with some friends last night when one of them put down his hand and picked up his captured card pile to look through it in order to see what has been played. Is there a rule for or against that? Thanks!
@Play-In-Games

I don’t know if that is a strict rule, but it seems like bad form. I don’t think I’d be willing to allow it, nor have I ever seen it tried with Italians. No matter how you play, make sure everyone’s on board with the same rules before playing. Hope that helps.

In VIP GAMES they refer to Briscola and Brisca as two similar but different games. What is that diference.

From what I understand, Briscola is the Italian name and Brisca is the Spanish name. I believe there are some variations which are unique in each version. I've only played Brisca a few times, but one variation I recall is that you if you have the ace of Brisca you can say "arrastro" and all the other players have to give up the best card in their hand. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Hi Re Briscola Is it a rule to deal the three cards in one go or could you deal one and one.
@Play-In-Games
2 жыл бұрын
Great question. It’s absolutely up to you and your fellow players. I was taught by my Roman zio (uncle) Massimo who liked to deal three at a time. He is extremely Roman and eccentric, so I like to continue with his tradition. It’s absolutely ok to deal one at a time too. Thanks for watching!
can you tell me the order of suit (without the high suit)?
@Play-In-Games
Жыл бұрын
Sure. There is no hierarchy to the suits other than the Briscola suit. So if Spades are lead with they are the highest card on that hand, other than the Briscola suit. The very next hand could be lead with a different suit and it would be the high suit for that hand. In that way there is no specific high suit outside of that rounds Briscola suit. I hope that helps!
What if I hit same cards without Briscola Cards. Let say I hit seven with seven ?
@Play-In-Games
Жыл бұрын
Good question. The seven that is in the suit which led the hand is higher. If neither sevens are in the led suit or are Briscola cards, they will both lose to the suit which led the hand.

@josequiles7

@@Play-In-Games I can't recall if it had a name even, I know the cycle came to play whenever the player who dealt the card, did not serve the symbol of the turn; for example, the card drawn is a spade but the hand dealt is any other symbol.
