A pre-op education session for patients who have scheduled a total hip replacement surgery at Essentia Health, St. Mary's Medical Center. The session reviews the hip replacement surgery; how to prepare for surgery; discharge planning; what to expect during and after your hospital stay; physical and occupation therapies. People who are educated about their surgery and have a planned recovery are less anxious, better able to manage their pain, and may have a shorter hospital stay.
