We have Nuttall’s in our area. So Cal. One was just in our yard as I came upon this video! Very elusive. The size of a Scrub Jay.

Every morning when I let my dogs out I’ve noticed a drumming noise followed by a rolling call, and eventually noticed it was a woodpecker on my neighbors house, thanks to this video I found it’s a red bellied woodpecker :)

We love our woodpeckers here in northeast Illinois. The most common one that visits our feeders are the Downy, the Hairy, and the Red Bellied.

I have all of them in my woods except the Red Headed. The Flicker has been drumming for some honeys lately. I only get the Sap Suckers during the winter on my suit feeder. S.W. Lower Michigan

just saw a pileated in our Decatur GA backyard this morning :) About the size of a largish crow -- very distinctive call (sounds like you're in a swamp) Super exciting!

I have had all of these at my house at some time. The downy and red-bellied are the most prevalent. The red-headed woodpecker is the scarcest one, unfortunately The yellow-bellied sapsucker only comes in winter. I love all of them! I

I hear the pileated woodpecker in my backyard but have never seen one. I have many red bellied woodpeckers in my yard also. I live in northeast Texas. After I listened to this video on my deck I heard either the flicker or the pileated woodpecker in my backyard responding to the call on the video. I’m still hearing it. 😮

I’ve been using the Merlin app for identifying bird calls. It’s like Shazam, but for birds, not songs!😜

I've have seen 3 Pileated Woodpeckers in my backyard this past summer, and can now identify their call. Also have Flickers, Downy's, and Hairy's.

That's very useful for identifying calls I hear frequently while hiking at Lake Kegonsa State Park. I've heard all of those calls but wasn't sure what was making them.

Here in our central Texas backyard, we have had Downys, Red-bellies, Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers, Flickers, and most commonly, ladderbacks.

I'm in south central TX & I have Downy, Ladder-backed, & Golden-fronted woodpeckers in my yard year round. I've seen the Yellow-bellied sapsucker & the Northern Flicker around town in the winter. I would love to add Pileated and Acorn to my life list!

Pretty sure I had a pair of red-bellied woodpeckers this spring, but I haven't put out more suet (it was so hot this summer I was positive it'd just melt) so I haven't seen them much. Have been hearing lots of drumming from one or more woodpeckers in the last week though! So maybe as it cools off I'll be able to attract them again.

Have a woodpecker that likes our suet feeder. Can’t identify. It’s in the shade. Has red pronounced tuft on crown, white chest. Long and lean. White chest. It stays in shade so I can’t get a good picture. We are in Irving Texas in an old pecan orchard. Lots of pecans and acorns to eat.
