Leaping Poetry by Robert Bly Book Review

Today we will be discussing how to "leap" as a poet. A book review/breakdown of Robert Bly's "Leaping Poetry" will help facilitate the discussion about how to leap from the conscious to the unconscious mind during poetry. Robert Bly is one of America's most influential poets. He is responsible for bringing Pablo Neruda (found a Swedish translation of his work in Sweeden), Cesar Vallejo, Antonio Machado, and others to Western poets. He also won the National Book Award for Poetry, revitalized the men's movement into a mythopoetic group (the best version, not the BS it is today), and is one of the greatest poetry critics in history! This video is for poets, poetry lovers, and those interested in the evolution of poetry!

I knew Bly in the '70's & served as his original model for "The Boy With Golden Hair" in his bestselling (& highly over-rated) opus, IRON JOHN, in the fin de siecle '90's. I was very sad when I heard that neither of us was flying anymore. I had been the kid who stopped, turned away & not ascended the hill (not just another of Bly's tin-eared ravings there actually was a kid.) achara -- MJS

This has been the first video here on YT that really grabbed my attention that isn't 3-6 years old... And I frequently check too. Check a few times a month, give or take. I'm actually amazed at the lack of good poetry content, or maybe i just suck at finding it, idk... Haven't heard of Robert Bly, and im really interesting in diving deeper. I've just been that lazy type of person who has always loved poetry but blocks it out all in the same time. Became afraid of it almost... But anyway, appreciate this video immensely! Have to read this book for sure.

You will love Bly. He is one of the most influential poets in modern American history and no one knows about him. Thanks for the kind words! Also, check out "News of the Universe" by Robert Bly first! It's better IMO and shows the destruction and restoration of nature poetry! Also, if you go back on my channel I have more poetry stuff about a year back!
