I had a teacher like him in 5th or 6th grade. I was a white kid in a predominantly African American school. He was a African American man. That man made sure that I was treated the same as everyone else. He made me feel important even though I didn't feel that way in every other aspect of my life. His name was Mr. Mudd. I will always remember him. Thanks Mr Mudd.

Nowadays if a principal give a truthful but political incorrect speech life this, he would be fired. And our poorly public school system of today reflects the changing of the times.

I believe Edward James Olmos also got denied an Oscar for playing Jaime Escalante in "Stand and Deliver".

This is one of the greatest and most inspirational films of our time. Morgan Freeman will forever be one of my favorite thespians, and one of my most esteemed heroes.

Coach Carter, Lean On Me, and Class of 1984", Imo are the 3 youth political movies ever made. Outstanding, and powerful messages.

This scene is immensely powerful in today's world. Precisely why you don't see things like this anymore. It would cut through all the crap out there today like a chainsaw through a diaper.

I have seen him interact with fans, and he wasn't very pleasant. Just saying *shrug* maybe do some research before you assume he's as awesome as the scene hes ACTING in.

We need this kind of tough love approach in our schools today. Leaders who give discipline where needed, but are also capable of showing compassion. Firm, but fair. Stern, but understanding.

Today's schools need teacher's like this so badly.

I loathed my strict teachers when I was in school. Mr. Sansoe my English teacher was tough as nails. But looking back he genuinely cared about us and made me work hard.

A school principal nowadays is more of a politician rather than a educator. That’s one of the reasons why Mr. Clark was a rare gem.

This is the kind of dad every child needs in their lives.

I want to go to film school because of this brilliant movie!

I had a teacher in high school that was teaching at Eastside High when Joe Clark was principal. She said he was tougher in real life than he was in the movie. She said if a teacher made a mistake, he would announce that mistake during the morning announcements.

The movie is about 95% accurate, according to Google. So, these were probably the parts where this Mr. Clark and the real one were ever so slightly different. That being said, I still love this movie and respect what the real Joe Clark did to save this school.

I really loved how Mr. Clark referred to his white students as his white children. To him they where all equals. He saw it as it should be seen. The color of ours skins should not matter because in the end we are all the same.

There is nothing more powerful than a "unified team" we have seen that in sports for a century now..

We need more people like this guy in our schools, as community leaders, and governing our country. We as people, need to unite our society.

Miss Lavias looked gorgeous in that blue dress.

I remember using this speech to help motivate me to do well on an exam. It hurt when I still didn’t. Then I realized it was my preparation that would help me most. He motivated them, but Preparation is what he encouraged the most. I feel prepared for my exam today and I am revisiting this speech in addition to my preparation. I’ll let you all know how it goes. This movie inspired me so much in high school when I was doing so poorly.

I grew with educators like this(I’m 47). I went to college to be this kind of educator. There’s no room in society anymore for this kind of educator. We need teachers who will motivate us this way, to tell us that we need to prove people wrong. We need teachers and principals who will treat us like thier own kids and actually help us learn! But sadly everyone now is just in a school for money and to feel power over kids that are the most vulnerable people in our society. And don't get me on the whole "we don't condone bullying" thing. We need teachers and principals who want to help and save students lives because kids are cruel as hell! We need someone to put kids in their place because other kids don't really know how to. Mr. Clark is someone all teachers and principals should be like. Not teachers who are they're just to get money or for a power dinamic.

Leaders Lead! From the Front! I always loved it when someone would fire us up with a great emotional inspirational speech. I first had the experience as a teenager playing football. Then later serving in the US Army overseas. I heard some that were so heartfelt it moved men to do incredible things in response to a single solitary man's voice and words. It is truly awesome to be in that moment. You are Filled with Courage and Fortified with an inner Fire. Then, you close with the enemy in whatever form they may take. You take it Too them! The human spirit is a powerful thing when harnessed and directed.

I had the honor of tutoring in a charter school that was once a gang ridden middle school. Now it's a middle/high school that's growing and showing promise, and now has several AP classes. In one middle school class I was tutoring though, there was some trouble. And two of the administrators came in and gave a very similar speech. About how many people outside the community viewed the school as trash. The students as failures, and the teachers as idealists. It was very touching to hear that.

Of course u would b in 🏫 everyday. If he was to walk into ur classroom to find that ur not in the room with other pupils, his on the office phone to Ur parents straight away. (Weather they are at home, work or even shopping) he would make sure that u find ur beehive in that classroom from 9am-3pm, right?

Sean Peterson What’s crazy is that early in the film, he told the black students that they need to blame themselves (instead of their parents or the white man) for the responsibilities they make if they didn’t succeed in life. I doubt Jordan Peele, Spike Lee and other woke directors saw this film. After what has happened with the riots and protesting, Clark’s motto has unfortunately been overshadowed. We need more powerful films like these and more wise principals and teachers like Joe Clark.
