    Sky Sports should hire her as a game commentator and analyst covering men's and women's football when she retires. I think she is very attractive personality camera wise... And she is funny and obviously knows the game. Think she would be a great to see beside Gary Neville, Kean, and Carrager.

    The lionesses, for me, have returned the spirit to football. Fun, enthusiasm, no am-dram on the field, unlike the men, and the realisation that they play as much for the fans as themselves. The game is beautiful again.

She shows: strength and determination, happiness and enlightenment, she’s: funny and kind with a warm heart she has opened my mind to a whole new side of football that I have never seen before. She’s an amazing player on the pitch and amazing person off. Arsenal will always be the team I support but having her there makes it ten times better. Her and her team have not only won a trophy just as she said it’s not just 90 minutes it’s a life time of hard work and determination. To not only create a legacy but history. I’m sorry can’t I fully get behind the lionesses because they have excluded the girls from the development system from the diverse major cities. Imagine if the men’s game decided to not scout of develop boys from working class areas of London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and the south west like FA did in women’s football? Imagine how much talent England would have missed out on like Kane, Sterling, Rice, Bellingham, Foden, Sancho, Saka, Walker, Phillips, Shaw, Chilwell, James, Mount, TAA, Rooney, Beckham, scholes or Gerrard etc. So think how much better Lionesses would be if they scouted and developed girls from all parts of England and not just the low diversity places

  • @AW-zk5qb

    @AW-zk5qb

    Жыл бұрын

    lmao you are everywhere. I will remind you; if football/soccer were the top sport in the US as long as it has been in England, the US would be miles more successful all time than England. You keep talking about working class areas and black English and French players being so good; if the US had football as the top sport from the beginning, you'd have had black American players playing for the US from the 1930s. The US would have won a couple of World Cups by 1970 and would have won a couple World Cups since 1970

  • @Delboy0

    @Delboy0

    Жыл бұрын

    @@AW-zk5qb Firstly women's soccer is the top sport for women in the US. You can visually see they are not at the skill levels or the women in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America and rely purely on fitness and athleticism. The USWNT was only successful because with title 9 law in the US that forced universities to put as much money into the female soccer teams as they did for the basketball and grid iron teams, meaning the US was essentially the only professionally funded team in an amateur sport. The fact the USA had a 50 year head start and Europe has closed that gap in a few years of professionalism shows the US will be left behind in the next 5 to 10 years. As for the men if raw athleticism was a major factor African teams would have dominated the world cup. To be the best in soccer you need the right culture that creates elite level skill players. in large numbers, an elite coach to get the best out of them and advanced tactics. The USA doesn't have a street soccer culture so even if Lebron James played soccer he wouldn't have elite skill and coaching is bad in the US too, so a great athlete doesn't mean you will be a world class player. The fact the US cannot produce a number 10 or number 9 striker shows even if the best athletes played soccer they wouldn't have the skill set to be elite players. Like in tennis where Americans don't have the skills to be top 10 ranked players.

    @@Delboy0 lad I have explained this to you in another comment, did you just ignore it? I said if soccer were the top sport in the US FROM THE BEGINNING, as in from the late 1800s. If soccer were the top sport in the US from the beginning you'd have street soccer culture and people would understand how to play the game properly. I literally explained that the US women's national soccer team is still a product of the AMERICAN (lack of) soccer culture. Meaning that they are still the produce of a culture that emphasizes athleticism. This is because American football and basketball, which emphasize athleticism have been the top sports for the US along with baseball for over 100 years. The coaching and development of soccer is terrible, but that is because the US is 100 years behind the rest of the world in men's soccer in terms of understanding the game. And in my comment to you earlier, I literally said that if soccer were the top sport in the US, it wouldn't be the likes of Lebron James, Kevin Durant etc who would be the top soccer players. My overall point is that there are 3 things that severely disadvantage the US men, all caused by lack soccer being less popular than other sports; best US athletes don't play, the lack of proper soccer culture in US (and consequent focus on athleticism rather than skill), and pay to play. The "best athletes don't play" is the LEAST of the 3 problems. I say this, because I don't want my argument to be misrepresented. The point is that there are so many 5'7-6'0 Americans who could have been amazing soccer players had soccer been the top sport in the US. Let's flip it; if basketball was the top sport in Spain and England for over 120 years instead of soccer, and soccer wasn't even really picked up until the 1990s, and thus Spanish and English sporting culture was more focused on height, size etc, then someone like Phil Foden or Andres Iniesta or Pedri might have been unknown, and people would be saying; "Pau Gasol would not dominate soccer, so what makes you think Spain would be much better at soccer if it was their top sport?" So the lack of soccer culture and lack of understanding of what makes a proper player, as well as the pay to play, are the by FAR two biggest hampers as a result of soccer not being the top sport in the US from the beginning. That is why I say, even if soccer became the top sport in the US tomorrow, the US would still start over 100 years behind in soccer development and culture, because you'd simply have a lot more American males funneled into a problematic American soccer system that is a result of the lack of soccer culture. The only way to know for sure how the US would be if soccer were as big here as in Europe, would be to go back in time and somehow convince the Americans in the late 1800s to have soccer as their top sport. But I just want to lay this out, so people understand what is actually meant when saying how much better the US would be if soccer were always the top sport there. It is much easier to be from a country with a proper soccer culture (England, Spain, Germany, France etc) but who doesn't fund the women's team as much, than be from a country that funds their team more, but doesn't have a proper soccer culture, and consequently focuses on athleticism too much. I guarantee you that if you equalized everything; the women were funded and professionalized in Europe as much as the US women, but the US women came from a country where soccer was always the top sport and there was a proper soccer culture, the US would win World Cups

  • @AW-zk5qb

    @AW-zk5qb

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Delboy0 There is absolutely no chance that on the men's side the US would not have won multiple World Cups by now if soccer were always the top sport. If you want an idea for how African American players would be if soccer were always the top sport in the US, think players like Paul Pogba as one example. The US would be like England or France, except much better as a result of the much larger population, plus having black players competing for them earlier. Again, this scenario would look different even from if soccer became the biggest sport in the US tomorrow, because it would just add more participation to a system that is dysfunctional, with that system being dysfunctional because of the historical lack of understanding of the sport in the US. If soccer/football were always the top sport in the US, most likely guys who are 5’8-6’0 who maybe were lower college level players but who were more suited for soccer/football would be the USA's top players. Remember how big a country the US is. If soccer/football were always the USA's top sport, even if they weren’t the most efficient in producing players, their WORST World Cup team ever would be miles better than what their team’s level will be in 2026. So they’d be among the favorites every World Cup. And if I were to say they’d win 4-6 World Cups in this scenario, it would be they’d win like 2-3 by 1970 (as the World Cup between 1930-1970 was much less competitive. Not to mention, many people talk about how much of an advantage France has with all their players of African descent. The US would have that in the 1930s, 1950s and 1960s, before any European team had that) and 2-3 between 1970 and 2022. Seems reasonable to me. It's possible I'm wrong, but even in the absolute worse scenario for the US, I can't see the US winning less than 3-4 World Cups, as I think the US for sure wins 1-2 of the early World Cups and simply has too large a talent pool to not be one of the favorites to win the World Cup almost every time, if soccer were the top sport in the US from the beginning

    They do scout from there, there's just not enough academies set up near all these areas. Dozens were shut to condense into more sparsely located centre's of excellence. Why? Lack of funds/no support in schools > so lower uptake. Hopefully it will only get better, and sounds like they've taken steps to addressing the academy system, as well as the team themselves campaigning for football classes in P.E for girls

Or other major tournaments - firstly because Wigman actually cheated England out of the last tournament with Holland. And partly because this is the first tournament I've seen since 2013 where Millie Bright or another centre back didn't kick the ball into her own net in the knockout rounds. England would have won at least the last UEFA Championship if not the last three major tournaments if a couple of players, and Wingman, hadn't completely screwed it up for the country. We were always the best under Mark Sampson. The difference now is, Bright didn't score a pivotal own goal, for once, and the cheating manager was on our side. Williams wasn't to blame there either of course. But it's not that either of these two are the reason.
