As a UKIP supporter and forth coming voter I very much agree that immigrants do prop up the NHS but do not agree that this should be the case, governments of yesteryear believed that it was much more efficient and cost effective to bring doctors, nurses, scientists etc from abroad than to spend time and money training our own people for jobs within the NHS. Simply put the government does not believe in helping fellow Britons to succeed in life, much more convenient to get already trained cheap labour from abroad and now we are left in a compromising position of not have enough "in house" NHS staff to cope. Its not so much an issue of finance for me as it is the governments faith in its own people to do the jobs, demoralising the people of this country to be left out in the cold.

***** I agree with everything you have said apart from preferring foreign workers. Like I said in my comment excessive cheap foreign labour has demoralised most Britons by keeping wages below livable standards making us unable to properly feed our children and pay household bills this in turn has a negative mental effect on our train of thought about work ethics "If I cant pay the bills on a 40 hour a week job then why bother to try hard" This is the depressing downward trend and our young see this and think its normal practice to be lazy. The way to combat your issue is make low paid British workers feel valued in the work place and home grown standards will rise not to push them to one side making the problem worse with each passing year.

4 main divisions need reinvestment. Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure and military. There are many sub-divisions worthy, however budget cuts can be made in every other sector with minimal disruption. Not huge cuts of course. but if you take a bit here and a bit there and reinvest elsewhere, then you have success. Also a quick note, the UK is 4 nations. Not just England.

My God that was painful. Farage makes a perfectly good point when he talks about non-British nationals using the British national health service, and the best response that Sturgeon can come up with is "well they're people too." So? How are we going to fund all of this? The NHS isn't a charity, it's a business that costs lots of people a lot of money. It's the British nationals who are paying for the NHS in our taxes, so it should be the British nationals who benefit the most from the NHS, rather than people who travel here from other countries, just to spend a few hours in a hospital for free before hopping on a plane to go home again. Foreigners should be charged for NHS access, at least until they are settled and paying taxes.

SuperSupermanX1999 Just to be clear, the NHS is technically a charity, since no profit comes of it. Sir/Madam, you have a problem with equality; that is a fact. Does a foreign national equate to being British? In your eyes, and UKIP followers, that answer would be no. Sturgeon simply and clearly pointed out that you're a horrible human being and should be disgraced. Regardless of your emphasis on British nationals paying for our NHS through taxes (which by the way is incorrect, since our taxes "stated by the conservative party" do not pay for the service currently), You are exposing the very nature of what our society is moving away from; Ignorance and Naivety. You want a better Britain? So do I. However, UKIP Will only tarnish the name of Britain. The money generated by removing foreign nationals would not sufficiently support the £8 Billion required, nor contribute a significant amount towards it. A better solution, would be to stop cutting the NHS, impacting the Defecit, and using the private sector "Businesses of Sufficient Wealth (Tax avoidance skills) " to Pay for it. A grand total of 88p goes to the NHS for all those earning £200,000 who are taxed £88,000 - Reference: Which is not significant to suggest our taxes pay for the service. We pay more to the elderly and disabled. One: it's Politically sound. Two: You're not being selfish and self-centred. Sorry, but you needed to wake up and smell your error; and sometimes insult to ignorance is needed. Knowledge is Power :)

SuperSupermanX1999 Nor is the NHS a business. Also, 'well they're people too.' I mean, i'm not exactly a huge fan of Nicola Sturgeon, but she has a point to be fair.. If you suffered a horrendous illness and were able to get better and cheaper/free healthcare abroad, would you not do the same?

  • @SuperSupermanX1999

Owen Carter Wat are you taling about? If a foreign national gets British citizenship then they are british, simple as that. If you are not a British citizen, and are not paying taxes that fund the NHS, thenyou should not get free healthcare. You should have to pay over the counter like you do in other countries. This is nothing to do with race, it's to do with economic sustanability and practicality. "Sturgeon simply and clearly pointed out that you're a horrible human being and should be disgraced." Sturgeon can say what she wants, and appeal to all of your emotions, but that doesn't make it true. Especially when she backs it up with nothing. As for the NHS supposedly not being paid for by taxes, I think the NHS might dissagree wth you there. "Funding for the NHS comes directly from taxation" www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/about/Pages/overview.aspx The King's Fund also dissagrees with you. www.kingsfund.org.uk/projects/nhs-in-a-nutshell/how-nhs-funded

Luis McClelland Yes they are people, but from a practical standpoint we can't afford to just hand out free healthcare to absolutely anyone who comes over here just to spend a few days in hospital before going home again. If someone who lives abroad and is not a British National, and is therefore not contributing to the country, wants to make use of the British National Health Service then they should be prepared to pay for it like you would anywhere else. Yes it appears harsh, but it's also practical.

SuperSupermanX1999 First off, if you'd bothered to read my essay you'll find I said "through taxes" not directly which implies taxes are paid but I go on to say not sufficient; weak point in your retort. Next your obviously angry and tetchy, about being human so corporations have really got into your head about being inhuman. If you read your own reference it says that British citizens pay taxes, that does not distinguish nationals. So respectively you have misunderstood who pays. Let me get this straight. Your angry because you pay for people who use the NHS and do not pay their taxes? That's like 2% of the population... So insignificant. Find me a source that significantly says foreign residents do not pay taxes (don't quote Farage he's not a reliable source) it'd have to be more than 15% of the population before I gave a shit. Your real anger and frustration should be aimed at the quality of service due to funding which could be supplemented via other means like focusing corporate charity tax on the NHS.

I come from Australia and this election doesn't concern me, I do feel that we are locked in a system that gives a choice between the bad or the worst though. Are people willing to continue down the road of the norm, or are we going to finally take the chance to fix what we are all concerned about. We always hear about great things that will never happen, let's give ukip a chance to show us real things that can happen!!!

kirt pearce Sorry mate, he offer no solution. If they get in power then bye bye NHS as it's being held up by migrants. That 8 billion will come out of your pocket somewhere else. All of them are clowns juggling our money from one place to another. The right wing racist also forgets that we, (UK) in the eighties, needed to go abroad to find work. I also hate the idea of selecting just the best migrants as that's not fair on the country that spent time and money educating them to such experience, only for them to fuck off and use that in another country. I agree on the choices but please please don't vote UKIP (I'm only asking mate). It reminds me of the LIB DEMS getting into power by standing in between RED and BLUE, just like this PURPLE racist party is doing now. Just trying to appeal to the disenfranchised. Vote, but for none of them. Show them you are not being represented by none but want to participate. Not one party standing last night will 'fix what we are all concerned about'.

Rob Skegg maybe if the governments of past had given the british youth a chance and proper wages they would be trained to do the jobs in the NHS but by importing cheap labour from third world countries they have written off our own citizens, we have the ability to learn in this country our youth has nothing as they have to pay for extra education or training, even further down the line our youth who while at college or university had part time jobs in shops , cafes macdonalds or kfc they dont now as those menial jobs have been taken up by cheap imported labour... by playing your RACIST card it shows that your not here to listen. its NOT racist to want a better united kingdom its NOT racist to be patriotic and its NOT racist to want to fly the flag of your country with pride

However, I disagree with the removal of UK from EU, which makes my support of them seem odd. But I want to shake up the typical political parties that seem too politically correct to deal with certain issues frankly. I want the NHS to remain nationalized, and be able to say it as it is.

Just like to say to you UKIP supporters that some of the policies stated on their website include scrapping HS2 (a railway which will make it so much cheaper to travel from London to Birmingham and the midlands), introducing GMOs (which we don't need, in my opinion), scrapping our Green Department (since Farage doesn't believe in global warming but YES, global warming is a problem!) and increasing taxes. Yes immigration is a problem but there are so many other policies which outweigh their good policies so at the end of the day, are you achieving anything in supporting a party who wants to fuck up our environment and become an isolated nation simultaneously? (Also, that SNP lady was sassy as hell. I'd vote for her if politics was based purely on personality)

Just picking up on your point about global warming, I would like to say that immigration is a much bigger than global warming issue, especially at this moment in time. Also, increasing taxes would not be such a problem because with UKIP they plan on leaving the EU so 10 billion pounds would be saved each year, 10 billion pounds each year which would be invested into our economy. Finally, it is clearly expressed by Farage and UKIP that they do not want to be isolated from the rest of Europe, and instead be friends and trade with Europe while still be able to be a self governing nation, able to make our own laws.

that is simply because the future of the NHS, security and reliability of universities, the realization and solution to open door immigration is far more important than global warming and climate change. Also, I find it quite disgraceful that you would prioritize it over these major issues. Further more, Natalie Bennet is living in a fantasy world, does she really think encouraging people to exercise will release the strain on the NHS, does she really think that emphasising lessons on sex and relationships, finances, and cooking will actually benefit our school's. She is pathetic and needs to wake up to modern complex world.

Hubbledecker "As usual you have completely missed the point and the fact that you don't know that we have a 9% say in the EU" " a place where we have a 9% say in our own affairs at best .... " What is that 9%? Do you mean, 9% where every other country has more? is it some how split evenly? What do you mean by our own affairs? If you are suggesting 9% based on MEP's wouldn't that mean other countries in the EU are similar, as they are all part of it. So really what you are saying is that you want UK to have more power than everyone else, but at the same time provide less to the whole. You are describing being an international version of mooching off of the EU. OR you want to leave the EU, lose international standing, and influence, trade, lose all the protections that come with that. Lose free movement. And anything resembling international friends. All because you feel its so corrupt. But you still want to pay more money than all that, in corp subs. Its always amazing to see UKIPers try to figure things out. Just so caught up in your own fear. Everything is scary to you except the people proven taking the most money out of your pocket.

I see why you have an issue, there was too much nuance for you. You sound like a politician at this point. Trying to dodge the vast majority of the points I have put across. No what I want doesn't mean I am right. Years of data means you are wrong. Now you have gone from Wanting to leave the EU to just wanting to control immigration. I wouldn't care if there was a vote. I would care that peoples votes would be cast based on proven fanatical bigotry like yours (choosing ignorance to hold on to bigotry) rather than using reason. You need to ask yourself, when basic scrutiny breaks your view. When basic scrutiny and numbers destroys your view. There might be something wrong with your view. Just to add - If we have absolutely no control of people coming into the country. Why is the EU saying we should take our 'fair share' of Syrian refugees, but the UK isn't doing it? (Even Farage said we should take in more) Isn't that right there a demonstration of having power to control some of the comings and goings of foreigners. I thought there was nothing the UK could do about it? Or does that not count for you?

Greg Pek Good day Greg, thank you for your comment. I assumed that you were not speaking in the literal sense "..would never want to live with.." Though I suppose that it could be a peculiar (to me) concept and way for some people to determine on who they are voting for. Compatible enough to live under the same roof 24/7 with. You probably would get the daily relentless struggle for truth and equality :). It's not possible either as she is happily married with a beautiful family. . . It was during the final days of the Scottish Yes/No vote campaign that the SNP's support was coming from far wide and Near. Many subjugated countries and areas closer to home. This is when the Better All Together equality campaign for the UK picked up momentum, and very much so for the SNP as well! Nicola has the experience with the London Authorities. With her sincerity and directness comes salient information that she is more than willing to share with all the others of this fine nation. . . I disagree with you Greg when you say that she is a selfish politician. In my opinion she is safe, fare, trustworthy, loyal and with a very lot of love for the people of the United Kingdom. I mean Greg what other main line leader or party do you know of that would put safety for it's people before money, in the name of defense? . . . Well Greg I know who you do not want in your house, then how would you feel about a few nukes in your back yard then? It's a big enough backyard. We differ in opinion though I pray to God that we might be on the same page for self preservation and not self destruction! Ps. I agree with you Greg that Nicola Sturgeon is "well spoken"! MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT Its a choice of what you what this country to become. If you want your mother, grandmother mugged on the street for a bag of shopping..then vote tory If you want unprecedented homelessness and social cleansing..vote tory If you want young people without money or hope of a future and roaming our country with malice in their hearts...vote tory. If you want zero hour contracts and food banks in every high street, then vote tory. If you want to be afraid of walking the streets in England for fear of being mugged..vote tory. If you want to more deaths of disabled people being told that they are capable of working and then having there benefit stopped, only to drop dead a week later vote tory...22000 yes twenty two thousand sick and disabled people have died inthis country in the last five years after being told they are capable of working.. Mostly cancer patients.....if you believe this is the country you want to live in,then vote tory. If you want a country full of hatred then vote tory. Not voting isnt a choice. Not voting is a vote for the conservatives. MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT..people

Votethetoryscumout Makeyourvotecount Boy, don't give up your daytime job. Personally I am pro UKIP. By far. Other than that only the Tories have any credibility. Are the Tories perfect? Not even close. Do they have a legitimate plan for the future? Nope just bits and bobs (better than all the others except UKIP I might add). We must give them credit. There was a bloody big crisis in 2008 and I am personally surprised how well the world made it out. In Europe none better than the UK. Deficit annually down from Labour (and under Labour it will ratched right back up). Total debt much higher. Decent base to move forward so I would cut them slack on that one issue. Other policies are incredibly weak. Dealings with the EZ, weak and naive. Again I am for the common sense of UKIP. Second to me are the Tories. Distant second, but second. The rest are just self serving nutters with zero substance that I can see.

Green makes most important points but she isn't an orator. Conservative is a disaster and Lib-Dems are weak as they have not constrained Tory policy sufficiently. Labour apparently have no views beyond 'Conservatives are wrong'. UKIP makes a clear argument and Farage is a good spokesman but it's a massive socioeconomic risk. Plaid Cymru is too localised but seem to be doing a good job in poking at Labour. That leaves SNP - Nicola Sturgeon gets my vote for PM - can we vote SNP in England? The Scottish referendum failed so maybe we could just change the UK into Greater Scotland?

Triple A Gaming In the eighties we (UK) had to go abroad to find work. One rule for us and one for them? The NHS is being held up my migrant workers. Under UKIP this would fail more so than now. We're not over crowded, we just haven't kept our promises (more housing, jobs etc), well since I can remember. They're all crap and are there for their own agendas. UKIP are in between red and blue just like LIB DEMS were when the big two were squabbling. End party politics by voting with no vote.

Rob Skegg Not over-crowded? I've recently come back to London after ten years and I can see with my own eyes how overcrowded the streets, parks, public transport have become. As recently as the late 90's to early noughties it wasn't this bad. This is Labour's legacy - Tony Blair should be tried for treason.

The pertinent question I ask is...!!!! How can one possibly in their right mind vote for either the Labour or the Conservative party? Also how can you NOT vote for UKIP. As far as common-sense policies and for the good of the nation I find it literally IMPOSSIBLE to vote for any other party. If you are capable of proper logical arguments you CANT vote for any other party. Its not an opinion ITS A FACT.

***** Not sure you properly understand politics and the policies of each party. Also I bet you have not followed the track record of the mainstream parties over the last 15 years. They are out of touch middle-class london-centric snobs never had to work like ordinary people, I am betting you have some very loose understanding about right a left wing. With some ying and yang attitude that right is racist and ostracising and left is liberal. I am afraid it is a lot more complicated than that you can't rely on mainstream news streams like BBC, SKY, and ITV to give you the truth, I love immigration and the benefits and diversity it brings. I would hate to live in a country with everyone the same. UKIP promote controlled immigration a points based system allowing decent hard-working people into the country not hundreds of thousands of unskilled people putting a huge strain on housing, public services etc. Last year over 300,000 migrants moved to Britain the social welfare system means its a magnet for people from poor European countries. Its unsustainable and will cause the country to reach breaking point if not NOW. Within 5-10 years. I don't believe in right and left wing - I believe in taking facets from both sides of spectrum.
