Tovah saying "This is a homecoming for Lea in a part that was karmically meant for her" is so accurate

And particularly for Ramin who really gets to explore more of Nick now and his dynamic with Fanny esp in the romantic aspect. I mean, for an actor, it must be exciting stuff to do something new and to dig deeper on the character. And it would definitely help the plot of show and make the romance believable. And I know this is just an interview, but I can already see hints of his chemistry with Lea. That must be fun for the audience

Lea Michele is so incredibly undeniably talented. I’m so thrilled for her. What an incredible moment she is living. Lea is the star power and talent this show needed. No offense to Beanie and Jane but there is no comparison. At all. Lea Michele was born for this. Tovah is a legend and so gracious. This is how the show was meant to be. People will flock to it. Bc Lea Michele’s voice soars. She is a star. Period.

This version of the cast just feels right. Nothing against Beanie and Jane but this just makes more sense. Can't wait to see it.

Tovah is such a class act--graciously acknowledging Beanie and Jane! She exemplified a team player with nods to everyone else on the stage while expressing her joy.

I've been waiting for this since glee. I wish I could see Lea live in the performance, but NYC is a dream vacation. "Karmically meant for her" I think we need to remember this line.

Lee was the right choice for funny girl she should’ve been funny girl from the word girl but definitely better late than never now please make a cast recording with her.

I'm ashamed to say that I only "knew" Tovah because of Walking Dead....Omg where have I been?!?!? This is a cast that FITS. Beanie and Jane are great in their own strengths...but for a show to be cohesive, the right players need to be in it. Congratulations to the cast!!! Hope to catch this run!!!

Oh wow. The lady playing fannys mom was the leader of Alexander on the Walking dead. Love Lea. I so want to see Funny Girl on Broadway. We did Funny Girl in high school.

@@nicoletrudell2065 Back in September 2005, the Tony Awards Administration created a new Tony category: the Best Performance by an Actor or Actress in a Recreated Role. The category was never awarded and it's now gone. Maybe it is possible that in future years there could be special awards given to replacements. So, it's not that crazy of a thought.

The problem with this show is that it’s Barbra’s. It’s just a question of who does a better impression of her. Lea killed it because she knows Barbra’s performance by heart and her performance is basically Barbra’s done perfectly through her.

Actually it isn't Barbra's. Lea is not doing a Barbra impression - neither did Beanie, nor has Julie nor Ephie. Perhaps you need to see the show, which is NOT the movie BTW. One of the best things about the show now is Nicky is actually a part of it. Streisand pushed Sydney Chaplin to one side when their affair didn't work out. This is a love story as well as a "star is born" story. Taking nothing away from Streisand who is unique - this show is now what I think Fanny and Nicky's daughter hoped it would be when it was first produced.

@@Makeji i only know the Broadway recording of Barbra’s performance (other than the film) unfortunately but I hear Barbra throughout Lea’s singing which is fine by the way. I also heard some of Beanie’s and even an old Lainie Kazan recording which surfaced at some point on You tube, which didn’t have any of Barbra’s genius musicality and inflictions which actually made the material less interesting.

1:28 but not fond enough to pronounce her name right. No real Streisand fan at this point wouldn’t know how to pronounce her name considering how many times she complained about that publicly. It’s quite crazy that her name can’t be pronounced right by so many. They just wanna make something out of her name that it’s not. STREI SAND LIKE SAND ON THE BEACH. Not Srei Zind. Always gets me.

Well, everyone finally got what they wanted in Funny Girl. A Barbra Streisand impersonator. God forbid an actress should bring a new interpretation to a role. 🙄 Broadway & McDonald’s, keeping it generic as hell.
