Nah fr. Fearless was not it for me and my expectations were kinda low. Not in terms of quality but rather if I'd like it. DAWG MY MOST STREAMED SONG RN. Plus I only really cared about Chaewon and Sakura in Fearless because of IZ*ONE but in Antifragile Yunjin just kicked my door down and declared that she's my bias now

The genre you’re thinking about for le sserafim is called reggaeton. It is credited to be created by Black Puerto Ricans but is extremely popular in Latino cultures everywhere and basically has elements of reggae and rap think artists like Daddy Yankee and Bad Bunny who are the most well known. The beat used is very reminiscent of the genre and is also so unique in kpop.

@@anthonytoo also this was vocally inspired on the girls in reggaeton like karol g (in the pre-chorus) and rosalia (she's not latina but she is huge and she often uses certain vocal melody when it comes to this genre). I personally appreciate how accurate the production is. It's literally our sound. They used iconic beats from reggaeton. This is the most Latino kpop song in that sense.

@@anthonytoo i reallyyy recommend you check out the music of one of the main producers for antifragile, who is actually a reggaetón/neo-perreo artist, Isabella Lovestory. once you listen to her music, specifically Mariposa and Kitten Heel, you can really hear her influence on the song. not to mention she also sings the “anti ti ti ti fragile” part.

IDLE’s ‘I love’ album concept is soooo good! (as always tho hh) Soyeon said all tracks are connected and tell a story so she suggests listening to the album from track 6 (dark x-file) to track 1 (nxde), even if you don’t like the style of the tracks, the story is so interesting! I recommend listening to the lyric videos here on yt. This comeback is so strong, it already got perfect all kills!

Antifragile one of the best drops of the year.

Nxde MV is definitely an art work. If you are familiar with Marilyn Monroe, you would know not only the dress up and MV scene are from Marilyn, but also the main story in lyrics. Marilyn is the scenario background and Banksy is the attitude here. As MV focus the story more than girl group members, Nxde doesn't look like an Kpop MV. Interesting~~

Mamamoo blew it out of the water! and not only with Illella, but with the whole album. The other 2 songs are so damn good they could be title tracks too!

Ive been obssessed with both antifragile and underwater. The mini albums are freakin amazing too.

i’m not usually into idles’s music but i LOVED this comeback from them! the concept is so unique and the message it gives off is so important, especially considering how female idols are objectified til this day

I don't think being sexualized, is exclusively a thing women deal with. I think the entertainment industry sexualizes everyone and everything, everywhere and the bombardment of the psyche with all the sex, all the time causes us as a species to sexualize everything too. Sex sells and everyone is buying it. I think the song is about more than that anyway. To me, it's layered. It's about sexualization, passing judgement before any evidence is even available, being your true authentic self and loving that self no matter what anyone else says, and more. In the lyrics they talk about putting on their "beautiful selves and da-ta-da-ta-da." Being themselves and knowing that they are the most beautiful when they aren't covering any part of those selves, (when they're "nude") and celebrating the beauty of being your true self. Plus I think the song is an homage to Soojin as much as it is to Marilyn. And more so than to Banksy. Marilyn first i think; Marilyn was judged by the world. Complete strangers judged her to be dumb, when she was actually the exact opposite. Not stupid, but rather very intelligent. As for Soojin, she was also judged harshly by people who didn't know her. Strangers all over the world judged her to be a bully, when she was actually the exact opposite. Not a bully, but rather a victim of bullying. I see nods to Soojin all over this song and mv. Not just giving the cartoon Soojin's mole instead of Marilyn's, or having the 6th heart balloon from tomboy be in the corner above her head just before she literally winks at the audience, but also the subject matter being Marilyn Monroe who Soojin loves. So much so, that she often had the wallpaper on her phone set to one picture of Marilyn or another, also they all went blond for the mv which is likely a nod towards MM, but the blond hair makes me think of Soojin too (probably because Oh My God was the first (G)I-dle mv I ever saw and Soojin was blonde in it, so my introduction to Soojin was when she was blonde). I feel like its also about not judging something too quickly, not hearing nude and thinking porn, not hearing blonde and thinking dumb etc.. etc.. someone hears a song is called nude and assumes they're in for something sexy, "an x rated show," and they rush to judgement, one way or the other. Rush to condemn it, or rush to perv on it. Either way, their assumption is wrong and the sexuality in the song only exists in the minds of people who cant hear the word nude without making it sexual. Hence, "You have a dirty mind." I have so many thoughts about this song as well as the mv. I think Soyeon completely killed this track. So deep and layered and thought provoking that I could write a thesis paper on it and yet the song itself is produced so well that it can just be a bop. Something you can jam to when you're feeling shallow and something you can jam to when you're feeling deep. It's got it all. Soyeon never fails to impress. Honestly all the members impress me so much with their talents and their passion for what they do, even when it looks from the outside like the absolute worst job in the world with the most demanding bosses and the most heinous and hateful critics, they still do it. And they put everything they have into it. Their whole beautiful selves.

The other two songs on Mamamoo mini-album this time are just as damn good! 😆😍😍 You must listen to it!

the scene where soyeon was in the box was a commentary on how women, specifically idols i guess, are viewed as objects, emphasised due to the fact it was an auction for people to bid on. She was trying to say that theres more to them than just their looks, and the line "baby how do i look" is sarcastic and patronising in that same respect.

literally antifragile one of my fave songs of the year and it barely came out skdkkss that was the main song i would’ve recommended 😂 others hmm.. maybe seulgi - 28 reasons, nmixx - dice, chungha - killing me and/or sparkling… that’s all i can think of (chungha’s aren’t as recent as the first two tho)

about soyeon's scene for the second verse: the people around her being all western doesn't have any specific symbolism, the concept of the mv is old hollywood and rich art culture, so it makes sense that the people around them are western (if you look at other scenes everybody but them is also western). If you look at the lyrics of that rap she's saying that the audience is disappointed by the art piece not being erotic. What she's talking about is the objectification of women, about how people are okay when they show their bodies as long as it's purely for the audience's entertainment, but as soon as they take ownership and do sensual things because they want to and on their own terms it becomes a problem. That's why the audience is disappointed, because they expected an erotic show catered to them but they got a self-empowered woman. Now this my interpretation, but she's the art piece in the box that's being auctioned off, and by the end they still buy her despite being disappointed because they still want to own and control her. I'm pretty sure it's also directed at the audience in real life, to the people that looked at the concept photos and expected the concept to be just sexy, I straight up comments on melon saying exactly that, that they were disappointed bc they expected a sexy song. And I also think it's linked to the Banksy reference at the end.

Le Sserafim antifragile was so fire, definitely my favorite release recently alongside what New Jeans has dropping. I'm glad you reacted to (G)I-DLE's Nxde as well, I can't say that I'd listen to it all the time personally but the message and purpose behind it are really powerful

I agree about Soyeon's Rap Verse -- Unlike her rap in Tomboy, she rapped in Korean. That would mean, the foreigners are only auctioning, bidding, throwing their money at her for Soyeon's looks; they have no idea what she's saying, about the expectations and the prejudice. They don't get the message, they can't think outaide the box. They're there for the 'display' in the glass box. If people were expecting an 'R-Rated' show, they'll get something else:

@@anthonytoo I mean, both (G)I-DLE & Le Serafim were successful on the charts, but NXDE's current position is better (until now because the two songs are still competing) & NXDE is phenomenal nowadays by topping all the charts in Korea & setting new records for (G)I-DLE.
