Most great men in history like Napoleon either end up getting betrayed by people they're close with or they end up getting executed by a foreign power to make a example out of them. The fact that the coalition didn't just execute him shows how popular and feared he was, he wasn't just a conquerer anymore. He stood for something.
@erwannthietart3602
2 жыл бұрын
@@GigaChadlovesandcares tbf, it was less Napoleon that they feared at that point, he was in their hands afterrall after he surrendered and could easy be killed. At that point they feared the french population and remnant of the Army that would go absolutely nut into guerrilla against everyone to force his son on the throne (since they wouldnt be able to kill the lil guy since Habsburgs in the coalition) and end the Bourbon if he dare to land again. They kill Napoleon instead of exiling him and you could prob get a few of the Marshalls that let Napoleon down or were away to go into resistance too, like Davout could come back to France, since Napoleon would become a Martyr, and the Marshalls while not global strategists for the most part, were still very dangerous in their own right. 100 days however? Oh boy they sh** themselves, but the fear of the population remained so again killing him directly was impossible
