Jesus is beyond impressive, but he did not die in vain. If everyone is automatically going to heaven because Jesus died for his/her sins, there would be no Hell. There would be no need to repent. I love the Lutheran faith and Martin Luther, the German. I also like the song "Must Jesus Bare The Cross Alone And All The World Go Free?" This pastor has not said one word about the need to repent while Jesus spent his whole life as well as John the Baptist about us repenting. Yes, we are under Grace, but a heavy price was paid. Even Martin Luther preached against this doctrinal belief. His message to the Germans was repent, for you are saved by own faith (not automatically) Why tell folk to repent if they are already saved? Westerners have put their touch on Christianity and have twisted it. Jesus said "except a man be born again, HE CANNOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN!" He also said "if we confess our sins, he will forgive us of our sins." He never said that we were automatically going to heaven because of what he did! Martin Luther hated any notion of an automatic salvation, for that was the belief of the day. He read in Romans that "The just is saved by faith!" He never read that the just is saved automatically!

It is not automatic, Jesus did it. If you are saved you can say "NO i can do it by my self::". and go to hell. you are only saved by CHRIST super naturally .If you are saved you will repent and do good. You alone are NOT able to believe GOD or come to him.I main part of sin is the worship of "I". I can do it I am able.

Actually, we need not do anything to go to hell. We all are or were on our way. Only by Christ's intervention and by His will are any of us saved. Thanks be to God.

@@mrbilingual Well, he is preaching in a Lutheran church where we have confession and absolution at the beginning of every service. Outside of church, confessional Lutherans speak the words of repentance daily and on Sundays we speak and believe those words with all who are in attendance. Sometimes, when our Pastors deliver their sermons they remind us of the need to repent and at some services they do not include that message, but speak on some other scriptural aspects of God the Father, Son and Holy Spriit. At the start of the service we say and believe, "I a poor miserable sinner confess unto you (God) all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended you and justly deserve your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them and pray you of your boundless mercy, and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of your beloved Son, Jesus Christ to be gracious and merciful to me a poor sinful being." Whereupon, the Pastor announces God's grace to all of us and tells us that our sins are forgiven in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. I can tell you are a man of faith. If you or anyone reading this are ever away from your own church, you are welcome to come and worship at any Missouri Synod Lutheran Church where you can repent of your sins and hear the Word of God preached and taught. Faith alone, Grace alone, Scripture alone. Blessings!

Just be careful! A cigar can be a real treat but tobacco can be a nasty addiction. Just be careful and aware of your smoking. I managed to quit habitual smoking but still use snus. Although tobacco is a wonderful source of solace and even prayer, it’s best to not rely on it in any way for any thing. And if you’re not of responsible, autonomous adult age, it’s best to stay away from smoking and nicotine altogether. Just sharing my experience with such things, friend. I’ve battled nicotine addiction for 5-6 years and plan to quit sometime soon. Be well. Christ be with you.

Harrison can do anything he wishes. He has been re-elected numerous times but I sense that LCMS is now viewed by their denomination as well as the world. I find my answers in my Bible before I simply believe a denominational pastor

For a "noble" comment to prevent "divisions," your disgust in the midst of the gospel preached is not of the Spirit but of an evil spirit. Why be concerned about divisions if you can't even follow ordained leadership?

Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison is the best President that the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod could ever ask for. If you are referring to the split between the LCMS and the ELCA, it wasn't the LCMS that caused it. The ELCA is Lutheran in name only. They openly disregard the bible for their own sinful and human rules. They blatantly disrespect God by it as well. The ELCA should be ashamed of itself. Don't come here trying to start something by accusing a faithful servant of the Lord of causing a split in the church. President Harrison is loved by almost everyone in the LCMS and that isnt going to change.

It's very sad that even though you elevate Christ, you give no encouragement for a person who is living in sin. You keep them there by saying everyone sins. We all know that, but if you don't show any improvement in your life and just keep living in sin, where is the Lord in your life? "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, whatever a man sows that shall he reap." You are responsible for living in sin after being born again.

  • @juliebless7119

Well, hmm, just try to stop sinning. We sure do need a Savior to save us. Seriously, the Lutheran belief is that you don't persist in sin and go on sinning, but because we are human we can never completely overcome sin. We need Christ. I mean, we really need, need Him. Without Christ, there is only despair, because, obviously, no person can live a perfect life; not one day. We believe the words of Romans 6.
