I remember Layzie & Bizzy dropped their solo the same day. Then Krayzie in the Summer. 2001 was a great year in rap for me personally.

2001 was definitely a pivotal year. After 9/11 things changed in music especially in rap/hip-hop IMO.

Layzie knew damn well everything wasnt good with Bone. this was cap and political optics. Bizzy Bone dropped his second solo album The Gift the exact same day Layzie debut his first. he admitted years later he was pissed. not to mention Mo-Thug records was dismantling and Krayzie was given more financial rights by the record label to focus on his first solo album.
