A lot of straight lines running through that patio. The mixed sizes look much better with the lines split every 900 max. Bit of a headache but end results are much better.

Many are using Indian sand stone for car driveways but using one whole mix under each slab , would you recommend it ok if enough muck under it ? Your so right about getting under the level to check it’s level

you should not lay any slabs under 50mm thick on a driveway and you need a much thicker sub base like a 150mm base that's compacted in 50mm layers, and then yes you need to lay them on a full 30mm bed of cement and also prime the back of the slabs with sbr mixed with cement to form a slurry, this makes them stick like shit to a blanket also stops any discolouring from salts and minerals in the ground. the mix i use is two buckets of sharp sand two home sand 1 cement. hope this helps as i have layed lots of driveways and never had any problems.

First time I’ve laid an Indian stone patio and made a fatal error of not cleaning the cement mortar off correctly. Consequently, the tiles have dried ‘patchy’. Can you advise how to remove it please? Also, what product would you recommend to bring out the natural colour of the tiles?

It’s not about the amount you lay in a day it’s about laying correctly ? Then why are there cross joints in your paving ?

Those cross joints have got me in trouble that was a while back before I knew about them though they are not a British standard but I promise not to put them in again.

@@truelandman9336 It's cos your eyes are drawn to crosses or at least their intersection. I use sketchup to plan and avoid them and straights over 4 slabs. A bit of nerd time saves a lot of faff time.
