Nikki's got caught at exactly 01:22. She knows she's talking baloney and prefers to get out of there fast. Stumbling and fumbling along until she reaches something she knows, "Dallas Airport" and after. That was easy to pronounce and could be divulged in a smooth way because that did not contain a lie. As a European, I am baffled by the way these people think they can get away with anything. Recently, the American ambassador to The Netherlands was dumbfounded to discover nobody believed a word he said and people tended to take him up for it. How come Americans believe people like this? Maybe they have no choice? I find it mesmerizingly interesting as day by day in the Greatest Live Show on Earth, featuring King Donald T in a cameo role, unfolds in front of our eyes. Wow, what a treat.

Instead of 'the war and peace report', the tagline used to be 'Democracy Now, the exception to the rulers'. I had assumed (and maybe so did Amy Goodman) that it was a temporary tagline change in 2001 when the U.S. attacked Afghanistan in response to the 9-11 attacks. But that war never ended. Then we invaded Iraq. Then Syria happened. Then Yemen too. Now the war-mongering propaganda about North Korea and Iran. I'm beginning to wonder if there will ever be a time again when this country is not at war. I wonder if it is the U.S. that will start World War III.

My dad was drafted, but the day he was to deploy he was pulled off the truck. He'd spent several years as a boy in the Philippines and had malaria, and so the risk of flare ups made him worthless in a jungle war. Instead they made him a Drill Instructor, and his job was to train boys to go over and try not to die. And also to remove the body bags from planes coming home. That broke him. He lived a lot longer than many of the people sent to Vietnam, but not well and with no peace. He finally drank himself to death almost 20 years ago, 53 years old.
