That's what confused me about the ruling. Are they saying that it's against the rules of decorum to say that someone is currently on trial in court? And then there's the whole farce around a presumptive nominee being treated as an official nominee, and official nominees being treated as successful. But then they need to decide if saying "The guy they want to be President is on trial" is more offensive or more of a personal attack than the incessant speculation about the actual President's mental acuity. Or how about the actual accusation from MTG that he "ordered the assassination" of the ex-President? It sounds pretty accusatory to me (one of the things the ruling said was not permitted.)

Ironically, the attempt to censor these words had the opposite effect - by calling attention to them, they . . . called attention to them. A sentence that would have been passed over, instead became analyzed and repeated several times, and the _attempt_ to block them itself became an example of the shame.

That would be a good start because their job description should require them to understand the bills they read, write and vote on. That's the problem with electing high school dropouts and former athletic coaches to Congress.

He wasn't commenting on personality. He was stating facts about a defendant in a criminal case. Not opinions about if it was a shame or not, or opinions about the judge. If they are going to be striking mentioning of Trump and his trial than it should be disallowed from both sides, not just the opposing side only.
