Ok, so that is a beautiful voice; natural; beautiful timbre, good placement; clear sound; not covered; and excellent singing. Those high notes amazingly were not forced, were on pitch and actually beautiful to listen to. His is a world class voice. He is new to me so don't know how long he is singing but continued performance will refine his art/performance to include more nuance, appropriate changes in dynamics suitable to type of music (too consistently mezzoforte to forte) and refining his bel canto line (this was just to fast for the standard performance of this aria). This will come with time, good coaching (hopefully he is getting it from someone) and good choice in rep to maintain his vocal health and have a long career. This voice is the real thing; the artist needs time to develop.

David Zhang Exactly, this is why opera is colorblind, it cares about voices more than anything else. Only in opera can one have a black women in the roles of French countess, Irish princess, German demi-goddess, Spanish gypsy or a Japanese Geisha; a black man - Flying Dutchman or Germanic God or have an Asian "Spanish prince" or have a white Ethiopian slave. You don't even need to close your eyes. Lindokuhle Msimango Unfortunately, all countries are in love with "mainstream garbage" these days. We do know wonderful South African opera singers like Pretty Yende here. There was also a very good bass among the winners of the Met Council auditions. In general, there is a long history of black opera singers in the US as well, it's just that most people in the US (and for that matter all over the world) don't know much about opera.

It is not only Pav here Pav there......... it is also Corelli here Corelli there...... if you say Mr.Brownlee is beautiful then you are obviously referring to his appearance... as for his voice: it is okay. A bit too much of a vibrato. Due to that there is a real danger that he sounds like a bleating goat at times. No squillo which is what an outstanding tenor should have to evoke goose bumps. As I said: overall it is okay. For more turn to the aforementioned singers.

+Jonathan Linton - For crying out loud, calm down. a) did you not get his point, which is that the voice is paramount; b) are you saying there is a 'black' sound? one kind of 'black' voice? and c) have you listened to this? He sounds like a man, pure and simple.

Geez, settle down. He is fine, nothing special though and certainly dosen't come close to being the best, by a long shot. Much better singers out there and his vibrato is so weird, just sounds like a wobble. Listen to Salvatore Fisichella for this Aria, and Pavarotti ofcourse. Then you will hear how belcanto should be sung.
geniallll
Young singers can achieve so much more if they would listen to the singers of the past such as BENIAMINO GIGLI, GEORGES THILL and SERGEI LEMESHEV
y'all just shut up! I want to hear some good music, typical classics, pav this pav that,...this is what you do and hip-hop don't want to listen to you.... you are chocking the breath out this young man. I think Mr Brownlee is beautiful.

Big fan of Brownlee. I'm not sure who set the tempo though, it's just stupid fast!
Este chico cuando su voz "madure" con esa potencia quiero escucharlo en Otello, Aida.... De momento es lógico en papeles mas belcantistas.
Nice job
Fabulous although a bit on the fast side.
Is my internet connection much too fast or is just the orchestra?
Катастрофа!!!
Bellini was a fantastic composer
Brilliant performance, though the tempo is a bit too fast for my liking.
"A te o cara amor TALLORA". Se si sbaglia pronuncia già alla prima frase vuol dire che non si è studiato abbastanza, mi spiace.

Certo...la pronuncia, o meglio la mitica "dizione". Meglio Di Stefano vero? Secondo me lei non capisce nulla di canto in generale e di belcanto in particolare: vuol dire che non ha studiato abbastanza, mi spiace.
Wonderful execution, considering the difficulty of the aria, not much support from the orchestra, they let u go at it alone....well done
ma dove si arriseca?
He has a beautiful voice, but one cannot capture Bellini's sublime spirit in this aria with dynamicless all mezzo forte (tutto uguale). I'm sorry but bel canto is not only singing loud with beautiful voice, but with a wide range of dynamic expression and high degree of virtuosity.
Sounds a bit fast to me. The voice is wonderful though
