I could've sworn I heard a different into when I watched the first episode. It was catchy. Unless it wasn't the intro but something else.

I think that the theme has such epic potential, complete with the heavy percussion with the haunting piano background...if they could just give it more substance, that would be awesome.

THe best time of Law and Order was when the show was full of gritty realism. There was the theme song, and that was it. There was no music track during the show, no over sampled low rumblings to interfere with dialogue or character. It was telling an honest tale about police procedure. The minute Law & Order started to try being CSI was the minute the show began to fail.

That's it?!! Come on! I want that theme song back! Goddamnit!

It is possible that they are waiting until Rachel Ticotin shows up as the captain. They fired Wanda DeJesus and her scenes have boiled down to 'unnamed cop'. Maybe once she's on the show (should be by episode 3) there will be an intro. I hope.

I know the theme song is a rarity nowadays with so many commercials, but I gotta admit I'll be a bit disappointed if L&O drops theirs, considering the franchise is one of the few shows with a distinct theme. Usually some shows add a theme after the first few eps., so I guess just give it time.

@ironhandz1 guess what, NBC dropped this and now the show has no theme what soever. Now you see the crime then commercial.
