    I can understand the point of view behind someone’s opinion, but I genuinely believe that someone’s individual religious beliefs have no place in legislation, beliefs are not facts, and a woman’s body is her own to make choices with. It’s not your right to strip anyone of their rights. If you don’t like something, don’t participate. But you not liking something doesn’t mean it’s wrong or that other people shouldn’t do it. Also, agent Coulson!

    You have to understand, from their (pro-lifers) point of view, a fetus is a baby, is a person. So saying, "you can think abortion is wrong, but you can't force others not to have one" is akin to saying, "you can think rape is wrong, but you can't force others not to do it." It's literally a life or death issue. Not trying to say you're saying that, I'm trying to point out that's what it sounds like, so it probably won't change any minds on the issue.

  • @shelbykeith733

    @shelbykeith733

    JP2GiannaT yeah I get that, but scientifically, a fetus is not a person/ baby until a certain point. In my opinion, a fetus is not a baby until there’s brain activity. I know I’m not changing any minds, and that’s fine, but I stand by the fact that abortion is not a crime. Rape is. Rape and abortion are not comparable at all. Abortion is healthcare that can save or preserve the mothers life. Good things can come from abortion. Rape is a crime that does nothing but ruin lives. Nothing good ever comes from rape except maybe putting a rapist in jail. Even then, so few rapes go reported, and even fewer rapists go to jail. Also: my body is no one’s business, and what I do with it should not be regulated by anyone’s opinion. It’s your right to have an opinion, it’s your responsibility to be informed, and it’s in your best interest to be compassionate.

    archerlady: IKR?!! I’d just left a comment about the *incredibly* young-looking Agent Phil Coulson - & how the digital de-aging process used in ‘Captain Marvel' apparently turned out to be spot on! - when I scrolled down & read your post! I *totally* agree regarding the extensive list of great actors who’ve appeared in Law & Order, & it’s other iterations, like Criminal Intent & SVU. I even remember a young Sam Rockwell - a personal favourite! - in one episode! Some actors have even appeared *multiple* times, but playing completely different characters - with regular cast members they were onscreen with on previous occasions - & I’m like: "How do you not recognise this person?! You arrested them for murder - or they were a murder victim! - a couple of seasons back, & NOW they’re a detective/lawyer/witness??!" LOL!! Its personally sad to admit that, even growing up here in the UK, I’ve pretty much seen *every* episode there is of Law & Order, probably WAY more than once, & it’s become something of a family joke that whenever we’re watching any film or TV show, nearly always there’s at least one actor (usually SEVERAL!) who’ve been in L&O, & - even MORE embarrassingly - I can even remember the *exact* episodes they appeared in! And yes, I *AM that* annoying - as my family members would DEFINITELY *readily* attest! - but I just can’t seem to help myself! I guess it’s a win-win situation due to Law & Order’s provably successful track record for great writing *&* casting! [Edit: It’s obviously NOT a "win-win" for my friends & family, who have to listen to me witter on though!]

    lastswordfighter none This is so uneducated. The world isn’t black and white, so the concept of evil is psychologically seen in everyone, as certain situational, positional and systematic factors influence behaviour. What is wrong and right or good and evil is determined by society’s norms and values. You notice this, since in some cultures across the world, murder is actually acceptable. There is no ultimate right and wrong in that sense, as those concepts are made up and based on individuals beliefs on how society works best. I can’t even take you seriously if you talk about abortion being evil and advocated by ill minded people, when the thought behind abortion isn’t only destructive and not just right or wrong. You have to have some sort of weighing out pros and cons of abortions and then come to a conclusion that is not only based on your initial uneducated opinion but also on consideration of evidence and others opinions. You are just ridiculous, not because you are against abortion, but because you lack basic human intelligent skills, smh

    baggabliss So your saying that abortion is only done for people that have sex outside of marriage? What about the people who are happily pregnant but the baby has an incurable disease and will be in pain for their whole life.? What about a rape victim who unfortunately got pregnant by her rapist, should she be forced to have the baby no matter how she feels? But let’s go with the situation you said a woman had sex outside of marriage as if married women aren’t getting abortions. Maybe she used protection or maybe she didn’t who knows right. Are you or anyone else going to help her for the at least 18 years she will take care of the kid. Are you going to help her with the changes to her body, the postpartum depression, are you going to be at her house at 2am when the babies hungry and you have work at 6am? It’s all well and good calling it murder when you don’t have to help raise the baby. I love that a person believes they can tell another person what to do with their lives and bodies. Have a nice day!

    baggabliss did you barely survive a Hyperemesis pregnancy? Or have a pregnancy that caused you to faint at random? I’m willing to bet that, if you’ve ever been pregnant, it was a fairly easy one with a non-traumatic birth. My first pregnancy almost killed me. I lost 40lbs and needed IV fluids 10 times because I couldn’t eat without vomiting. My teeth are ruined and I’ve had to have lots of work done just to be able to eat without pain; THREE YEARS LATER! My second pregnancy wasn’t a Hyperemesis pregnancy, but I had low blood pressure that caused me to faint multiple times. I had to have an MRI because we thought it was seizures, still paying that off 18 months later. Can you honestly say you would inflict that on a teen? Or someone who was raped (like my biological mother)? The vast majority of abortions are perform on women who already have other children and have taken steps to prevent pregnancy, which have obviously failed. Pregnancy is expensive and time consuming, as is caring for a newborn or finding an adoptive family. The practical decision for a woman who is already just barely making ends meet is to not add another mouth to feed, clothe, and provide medical care for. And before you harp on adoption, let me tell you some things. Adoption is messy and painful. It’s not a neat little “sign here and hand the baby to his new family”. The history of adoption is FUCKED UP. Google “baby mills-Ireland”, “Magdalene laundries”, “how much does it cost to adopt a baby”. Furthermore, Families are torn apart by it. My biological mother never spoke to her mom kindly again after my birth and adoption. She went completely off the rails when my parents stopped allowing her visits. She’s still wanted in my home state! And, for perspective, I wrote my ENTIRE senior paper over the benefits of comprehensive sex education vs abstinence only education in relation to teen pregnancy rates and abortion. My research taught me that teens who received comprehensive sex education had less unprotected sex and therefore got pregnant less and had lower rates of abortion and STIs. If we start from the bottom up and actually teach our children and teens, we can lower the teen pregnancy and abortion rates. We can lower it more by making birth control more accessible and requiring companies to cover birth control on employees’ insurance. Looking at hobby lobby on that one. We can lower it further still by strengthening our social programs so lower income mothers don’t feel quite the squeeze if they find themselves pregnant. We want lower abortion rates too but outlawing abortion and forcing women to carry to term and give birth should they become pregnant is damaging at best. It will lead to back alley abortions and maternal death rates will skyrocket. This isn’t the goddamn dark ages; it’s not 1940’s England. Another argument for you to chew on: Can I force you to give me bone marrow against your will even if you’re the only match on the planet? No, because your body belongs to you. That’s bodily autonomy; it’s why you sign all kinds of consent forms before surgery or any other medical procedures and it’s something we afford even corpses. Saying a woman has to allow a fetus use of her womb for 40 weeks is allowing her less bodily autonomy than a corpse.

    I cannot stand those fanatical anti abortionists. What business is it of theirs? They don't approve of abortions, then they don't get abortions It doesn't give them the right to make that decision for anyone else. I don't think abortion is a deciision to be taken lightly, and I think for most women it is a difficult and sometimes painful choice to make. But it should be their choice. No one else should be able to take their choice away from them because of their own "moral" judgements.

    I know this is bad to say but the baby doesn't have a mind yet, it doesn't know it's alive and it won't know it's dying. Remember, unborn fetuses are not children yet. Having a baby when you don't want one can cause depression and anger which can later cause you to become abusive if you're the right type of person. Abortions are also for heath reasons as well. If you get pregnant but your body is not really fit for giving birth, it happens okay, then aborting the baby before it's born is recommended. (I think, correct me if I'm wrong.)

Abortion is never the safe option, by taking it away as an option, you either lose the mother, the child or both. Abortion allows the child to be lost but the mother to survive. By taking the choice away, you force the death upon the mother to be. The Question should never be Pro-Life or Pro-choice, it should always be Lets set up rules and regulations so that both of these are correct. The world is never Black and White, we should never limit ourselves with just two choices, the entire existence of our being is about choice. God gave us Free Will, so that we can investigate and create new choices, instead of just picking from one or two offered. Sometimes saving the baby is the right thing to do, sometimes saving the mother is the right thing to do, sometimes the baby is malformed and will never survive being born and will create complications to the mother and the Mother should have the right to decide, sometimes the baby should be born and given to others to be raised and the mother is not in the right mind to make decisions. Situations happens that we can never predict, no law or regulation is a single size that fits all, this is why we have people that dedicated their lives making regulations and laws. We should all band together to create new rules and regulations that will help humanity not pitted against one side or another. If this is a test by God, all the religious believers have failed. But you never need to crush a child's skull beforehand, there is no medical reason to cut the child's arms off, or to vacuum it out. You simply perform a birth and if the child is so premature that it dies then that is a sperate tragedy. "The world is never Black and White" Is murder wrong? Moral utilitarianism is a cancer which has been used to justify some of the worst actions. Planned parenthood was started to create a purer white America as some people forget. "If this is a test by God, all the religious believers have failed. God did not make you to become blind believers, if that is all God wanted, free will would not have been given." I don't understand people who have a firm belief in abortions being wrong. It's not unethical, it's not murdering a human. It's not hurting you or anyone else. The mother is hurting herself. For her it's a lose lose situation. My mom doesn't believe in abortions but she's not looking down on women who he one. She's not screaming "murderer!" Yo every women on birth control or has an abortion. It's not your choice what the lady does in her life. You are not effected by it. Abortions have helped so many women so saying they haven't is just plain idiotic. Abortions have stopped future children from being put in terrible situations. It's helped women who were raped not carry their rapists babies. All of that takes a mental toll on a woman. Like a big one. It takes a big heart to come to that conclusion. It's about what you see as the child's future. Would it have a good one with an abusive father? Should it have a good life with a mother who can't stand to look at them only to be reminded of the rape every time?? Making abortions illegal won't stop them from happening. If anything they'll continue but more women will die from it because it'll become unsafe to do so. It's like how alcohol was banned but people still got it. Guns need background checks but ppl still get them. Making something illegal doesn't stop people from getting them!!! Shaming people for going through with something in THEIR life because YOU don't like it is wrong. If an abortion could help a child who was raped by her father then by all means I hope she gets one. And the only time a late term abortion is done is when the life of the mother is at risk or the "baby" is already dead. No doctor in their right mind would risk losing their license for a late term abortion just because the mother doesn't want it anymore. You can be pro-life all you want. But shove a sock in your mouth if you're only screaming about abortions and not about the military killing innocent ppl or abused children or kids in foster care, kids and adults that are homeless or starving. If you're a pro-lifers then be about all life. Not just pro-babies. Y'all need to shut up and realize that what someone does in their life is not something you're allowed to control unless you're willing to give up control in your own life.

    It's actually very funny because there is a line in the Bible "everything that hath breath praise the Lord" leaving many believers to debate whether animals have souls but somehow they are sure that the soul is created at conception for humans.

    Well, I don't really agree with you here. I think life is not an either you do or you don't but it is on a scale where most stuff is on either side. Still, there is the in between. In my opinion egg cells, sperm, embryos are somewhat in the middle. When the baby is born and able to live outside of the womb I consider it on the far side of the living spectrum. The same goes for ppl who are dying. If your organs are failing, like for example your heart is not beating, but your cells have not died yet I would consider that being in the middle of living and dead.

    Then maybe you should have attended science classed past 2nd grade. "Doctor he stopped breathing! Should we start CPR?" "Nah he dead" "Doctor he is chocking on his food!" "Can't do anything, he's dead"
