This gorgeous & yummy drink became my favorite after I watched this video last year! I love it with or without the alcohol. I like to add the pretty sugar rim. I love to make lavender syrup and gift a bottle along with this recipe for all kinds of “unoccasions”.

Sorry if long: basically, for cooking/teas, do I only use the flower blooms/blossoms & flower buds OR flowers, leaves, stems & all??? I've got a plant I'm just learning about. I want to make tea, so I'm patiently waiting for drying, & planning on harvesting more, so I won't be making anything for a few more months.... I've seen so many different articles etc. say the leaves are 'poisonous' or bad so you only use the buds. So I wait... But then, many lavender syrup recipes say to boil the whole stem of the lavender, including bud & leaves, whole stem basically, & nobody said anything about getting sick.... so which is it? Only use the flower parts, no stems or leaves, for eating. Then the stems & leaves are for non-edibles like potpourri or scrubs, everything else basically. So I'm lost & definitely don't want to get sick. I'm really confused about this, cause literally half of all recipes say ONLY EAT/USE THE FLOWER BUDS OR ELSE!! CAUSE THE LEAVES MAKE YOU SICK while the other half say it's fine, they didn't want to wait for that many harvests to get enough buds/didn't have enough buds/either somehow didn't know anything about the leaves & stems 'possibly' getting you really sick or they just didn't care..... My plant is small so I don't have many buds, maybe a cup of I count baby buds not ready to do anything they are so small, barely count as being a flower bud.

Hello. Thank you for this message. For this drink, I used a bottled lavender syrup, but after reading your question, I looked into it. Google said the following: Yes, you can eat lavender! Lavender is an herb just like rosemary and thyme and you can eat lavender in endless dishes, drinks and sides! In this area, there are two main types of lavender: x. intermedia and Angustifolia. The intermedias have more camphor in their oil and are usually not eaten or only used in savory dishes. Angustifolias have sweeter oil and are great for cooking, baking and drinking. Culinary lavender means it has been cleaned extensively to remove spent blooms, leaves, stems, dust, and other bits of nature. When you look at your culinary lavender, you should mostly see bud. No matter where you get your culinary lavender, make sure: 1) you know what kind it is (Angustifolia) and 2) that it’s been cleaned. I am not a food specialist, so I only know what I got from google. I hope this helped a little.🌺😊🌷
