Man, this song is really an important marker for the progression of music- how the topics music covers is really diversifying, how people are becoming more open to talking about their personal mental well being, how unique our generations experience of depression is (surrounded by so much, with so many open opportunities, but at the same time so lonely and how individualistic we are all expected to be- not sharing our struggles, always striving to reach out "full potential", selfishly ambitious, shamelessly achievement oriented, fiercely independent and not to mention mind bogglingly "successful"). The lyrics are so simple but they speak to so many people on a personal level. This song really gives me hope, hope for the normalization of not fitting into the world's expectations of successful, happy etc.,hope that we realize vulnerability is okay, that we're all as insecure, as lonely as the other person and ultimately hope for people to realize that EVERYONE has their own struggles whether or not they're open about it. “Love my friends to death, but I never call them I never text them” I relate to this so much... it’s something that comes with depression but no one really talks about. It makes you isolate and distance yourself from everyone you love, it makes you feel like a shitty friend/person then you end up losing everyone..

For real!! That’s something people who don’t have depression don’t understand. This depression makes me feel like no wants me so I stay out of their lives to make them happy, but that’s not true. It’s just lies your telling yourself because of the depression. You can’t really understand unless you’ve experienced it, and I wouldn’t wish depression on my worst enemy.

This song explained exactly how my life are. I shared this song a few times on status/story hoping that my friends could see the message that I've been trying to tell them, but it really break my heart when some of them act like stranger. I know that I'm kinda selfish too since I rarely contact them but from time to time I also want someone to ask about my condition. Btw thanks @lauv for making this song. This song help me to realized that I'm not a strange person, there are a lot of people who are like and this song comfort me everytime I listen to it..

My friends don't know what the hell is going on with me. Only to find out that one of my friends is going to another country the next day. I felt bad.

Damn that's sad but he could have called and told you it's not as if you blocked the person... or did you? I struggle a lot with interacting with people and I do this a lot as well as far as removing profile pics and logging off... The lonelier I feel, the more I tend to push people off

I lost my dad 2 years back. Now I feel there is no one to help my feelings. Even my friends don't care about me. In collage I wonder whether I do exist or not🙄...

When Lauv sang: " We're never alone but always depressed" It reminds me of myself in school who cant connect with other people.

I don't know why but being an introvert really sucks for me. I wish I was an extrovert, instead. Whenever I try to start a conversation with my friends, it always end up being a small talk. I want to deepen my relationships and support them through problems but I just can't. Maybe I'm scared that I might say something wrong because my socializing skills are so level -9000 and I really bore them in long conversations. I suck at expressing myself, the only thing I can give them are inspirational quotes, memes and normal tips but I don't think its enough. Hell, I'm sorry if you guys didn't understand my story, I'm just not good at describing my situation.

You express the concept perfectly. I am also an introvert person. We are special, we are deeper than others. You just need to find the right persons that will acknowledge you and listen to you. And it's not easy. So if you find the right friend, even if is one, hold on onto it.

I felt the sincerity and genuineness of the lyrics. I feel like Lauv has always been suffering from depression and music is his way of expressing his emotions, releasing them by sharing to the world his feelings through great melody and superb vocals. Lauv has always been the most relatable artist for me because he writes not just love songs but songs for the soul that directly hit you right in the chest. Im so proud of you, Lauv! Keep going, man! 🤙🏼❤️ In the end, everything will be okay. Trust God. Have faith. ❤️

This song... It reminds me of when a girl told me once that she never texts first, but she's lonely and wants to talk to people... But what if everyone is waiting for everyone else to text first? Nobody is going to communicate that way. So talk to people! Call them, even though most people don't do that anymore, text them first, even if it starts off awkward, it will get better! If you want to be around people, a lot of them are too afraid of awkward silences or odd beginnings to initiate it, but especially if you're a teenager, we're all lonely! We might act like we're fine but if you're thinking about someone, leave them a message saying that you were! Chances are it will make their day. If you're lonely, I totally get it. I have very few friends, cuz im homeschooled and just don't get around people that often. Just be brave and text someone! I promise to everyone who has "modern loneliness" (including myself) that it's gonna get better. I love you so incredibly much and God does too. You are blessed, you are a blessing and I pray you have a fantastic day

Love how Lauv create songs that speak so much about our current state of mind. This is a gem.

This reminds me of the time i had to leave my friends, they said "dont worry, now we have the Internet, we can always talk whenever we want" but actually, it's the belief that we can always talk whenever that we dont even bother to talk anymore. And that's how we drifted apart. "Modern loneliness, never alone but always depressed" - aint no truer stories.

I'm cryingggg. I have been dealing with a lot of pressure since last year and everyday I try to find motivation and drowm myself with positive thoughts, but I don't think it's working. And today I got the news that somebody I know jumped in front of a train ... I don't know why life is so hard on us, but I hope one day, I won't resonate with your songs that much. Or that I'll continue to resonate, but you will be singing light-hearted, happy, silly songs

We all need to understand there are tons of possibilities life holds for each of us and know we will get through everything in our way to get to something more beautiful as well as more beautiful versions of ourselves each time. This song really hits hard. Like literally. Yes i know im still a kid because im still 11 years old right now but, i understand this song and it really represents our generation. Ive had depression since i was 9 and up until now. Don't worry, im already getting some help. If you have depression, please get some help and don't harm yourself. It's not worth it. God created us to live in this wonderful world. We all have a purpose. Everyone is loved. God loves us all equally.
