That was really marvelous! I'd always wondered at this staircase's importance. Why? You answered it for me in spades, and I no longer wonder. Now I'm wonderstruck. Thank you!

The tapered columns remind me of the Minoan style, which are tapered downward.

You guys never cease to surprise me with your subject matter. A staircase is a new one, lol. Your commentary: The pilasters speak to his virtuosity, etc.. Michelangelo: Eh... looks kinda boring, maybe I'll throw in some pretty pilasters. lol. Ya never know.

Your subtitles politics are strange... So, no offense, but there are subtitles in Korean, Ukranian and Czech, but no German, French or Spanish?

these are great snippets of art explained...I have a small quibble: I have always heard clerestory pronounced cler-es-tory, and in all of these I have seen, you pronounce it clear-story...have I and all those others who say that word the first way, been wrong?

It is pronounced clear-story, not cell-es-story or cler-es-tory. Have a look in any reputable dictionary.
