john Laurens had a wife and a daughter before he died. But he never met his daughter and his wife died a year after him, leaving his daughter an orphan and a bastard. She later turned to an alcoholic and she never had kids and the Laurens family died on johns side after she died. So sadly his story was never told by his child, my heart is slowly breaking

Pat Vish actually I don’t think Eliza and John ever actually knew each other in person. Eliza looked up to John tho because Alexander talked about him and stuff. But I don’t think John liked Eliza so much based on this one letter he sent to Alexander. I read this somewhere but I don’t know if it’s true, sooo don’t take my word for it. But it does make sense that she cried bc 1. She obviously cared for Alex 2. She saw John as a good person (I think) Again, I don’t know if this is true and please correct me if I’m wrong Also I know I’m late I’m sorry ahah

The worst part is that Laurens died not knowing that the war was over, that Hamilton had succeeded at Yorktown and ended the war. That really upsets me....

I was always so bothered that the song was so short but.... that's when I remembered this is Hamilton's story. And I remembered Hamilton, the man who could write thousands of pages on nothing, could. only force himself to produce a few paragraphs on the death of John Laurens

I forgot what true loss is. It's when you love someone more than you. And Laurens was the embodiment of that. AA:HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IS basically how my brain and heart are- oh. Wait. There it is, and, nope. Nothing much to live for now. No more heart. No more Laurens. I'm gonna go cry.

I don’t know if John Lauren’s would be honered or weirded out by how many times I have listened to this part of the musical

The ending was what hit me the hardest. He channeled his pain into something worthwhile.

Even though there is more time spent on the death of Alexander, that of his son Philip, and on Alexander's publicized betrayal of his wife, this is the saddest moment of the show to me, because it's not just the death of John Laurens and a dream of his but the loss of freedom for all those men, and how that represents the most prominent tragedy behind our nation's founding as a whole. It's briefer than the other death sequences, but still, the way that John Laurens is singing a partial reprise of "Story of Tonight" representing his and Alexander's ideals as young individuals going to fight for them also has a tremendous impact on me.
