Lauren & Carrie | She was her brother’s girlfriend | Lesbian film Heartland

Ойын-сауық

The movie Heartland is a quiet gem of a lesbian film. It's certainly stands out for it's strong script and performances and remains a firm favourite of mine.

I’ve never seen anyone talk about this movie! I think it’s a rare gem where the production value is not horrible and the acting is not cringey. Thank you for making the video.

I am so happy to see this delightful film get its due. Heartland has been overlooked far too long. Velinda Godfrey, who is Lauren in the film, also wrote and directed.

Thank you for the review 100% Shipper. I like this movie for all the reasons that you talk about. Most especially that some people are meant to pass through our lives, not stay forever. My family never understood what I went through when my partner lost her battle with cancer, so I can totally relate to the dynamic between Lauren and her family. 💔🌈

Wonderful analysis! You pointed out many things that i didn't quite get when i watched the film. Imo it's a very underrated sapphic film, not a fan of the cheating part but overall it works in the plot.

Thank you for this. I watched Heartland a couple of years ago and, honestly, did not catch all of the nuance so I was a little disheartened when the girls didn't wind up together. But your analysis make a whole lot of sense. Once again thank you I'm going to re-watch it with a better understanding of what's going on.

I've done the same! Sometimes I dislike a good movie because the women don't end up together and it's only later I appreciate it.

@@100percentshipper sometimes we have to wake up to the fact that it's the simplest things that often carry the most weight. They are each going through emotional and psychological turmoil and they found acceptance and comfort in each other. Which gave them the strength to make the decisions they made. I hadn't seen that before Miss film and I feel like an idiot for not having done so lol. At any rate thanks for the insights into a film that I seriously underrated.

so sick and tired of these films where they don't get together. this is life now as we know it. Hollywood needs to start putting these women together.

Watched this film after seeing your review.. I could relate to Lauren’s relationship with her mother… for long I thought that my mother would accept that my girlfriend is my partner.. beginning to see otherwise.. I struggle to now believe that my mother loves me.. I can no longer tolerate the judgement and the remarks. Some people are and will remain bigots.

It wouldn’t work because the mother’s differential treatment of her straight vs. lesbian children is kind of the point.

Hi, another good choice, this one is really beautiful and sad but overall hopeful, the performances are so good. Having experienced a lot of middle America religious hospitality-hypocrisy it hits very close to home for me, but it leaves you cathartic and hopeful for these characters, (think I’m talking to myself now because you managed to say all these things) 🫠 thanks✌️!
