This is what England's national anthem should be it is strong and proud, says everything about us as a nation that the present anthem totally lacks.

@@vipiccb6896 you totally miss the point. Today's anthem is about one person , not a nation as the title says "National Anthem". We the people, the country, the dreams the strength. The present anthem is a degree.

At my school Central Grammar School in Birmingham in 1954 to 58 we used to sing this song at the end of school year. Great memories!
she has an amazing a very captivating voice.
I live with a person (my daughter) who has absolute perfect pitch and living with her with the piano, guitar, and singing continuously is like living amidst this song daily. I have sent April a number of songs through the years of people like Laura Wright, Agnetha Faltskog, Olivia Newton-John and other female sopranos I am fond of. I have only relative perfect pitch (department of music at stanford) and feel very, VERY minor in comparison. :-)))) --Stuart

Yes, we no longer rule the waves and our Empire is a thing of the past. I'm not all that sure that 'Jerusalem' is the answer either in our multi-cultural, multi-religious society but it is a lovely song and is perhaps a little closer to the mark. Lovely singer, never knew of her before, will look out for her in future. I hope most of us still retain some national pride.
