Laura´s Industrial Lamps
Last week i came across 2 of these super rusty gasbottle caps.
I thought they were perfect for an industrial reading light i wanted to make for a while now.
I am in love with the classic Kaiser Idell Scissor Lamps and so i tried to recreate that design and adapt it to the gasbottle caps. It works really well and i am super happy with how they look.
Although this looks quite complicated it is actually very simple to make...just prepare to spend some time at the drillpress :)
Let me know how you like these lamps in the comments below.
Thanks for watching!!

Having gone pretty far down the rabbit hole of hobby metal-working and purchased a lathe and mill, I always want to dope-slap myself when I see a real artist get it done with simple tools I had already owned from way back but never thought to put to such use. Nice work.
The brass was such a nice touch, I love her aesthetic
Just watched this on the big screen tv with my little kids. You had them mesmerized.

Hey Laura, I'm needing some additional lighting in my shop. I know this video is 4+ years old but thanks for providing the inspiration with these lamps! I currently do not weld so I have to modify to my abilities and available resources. Keep up the great work and inspiration. Your work is a gift. Prost!!
Yup! Yup! Sweet Build Big L!!! That's just plain FUNKY FRESH right there! Much Love! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Wow ... Fascinating ... what a beautiful industrial look you put in this piece ... I'm amazed by your incredible videos and projects ... congratulations, you're the best!
Aha! I finally found where all the traffic to one of my older builds (industrial chain lamp) was coming from. Great work Laura, and thank you for the traffic!
Wow.... 😱 How cool is the entire video, man oh man, now I have that musical loop everywhere I go, or when doing stuff, tnx dear Laura for sharing the magic!!! :D
Cool lamps! What a treat with new content from you. I always get inspired and creative watching you work! Thanks so much Laura!
Lovely steam punk look with gun blueing patina, & once it's in place it looks like it has always been there: Useful, practical & harmonious. I have used the washer trick for rounding corners, but always by hand file, never occurred to me that a belt sander would as good & much faster: Inspiration & education, thank you!
What a fantastic build! You are one of the most creative and stylish makers on KZread.

Very cool video, beautiful music and amazing lamps
The best furnitue and lighting I find on my travels is always made in this way by some person like 70+ years ago. Incredibly happy to see this reemerging!
Fantastic Laura! Wow! Beautiful job!
You have a beautiful eye for style ..design and detail...a polymath in progress..well done.
Awesome! Love the creative reuse of the gas nozzle covers, and the washer tip for rounding the ends of the steel stock. I can't get enough of that fabric covered insulated cord, use it for everything (so far two pendant lamps and two desk lamps). Can't wait to see what else you make!

super badass Laura. in search of a sweet industrial floor lamp for the office so this really had my attention 👊🛠
Xcellent repurposing, Laura! Beautiful project. 🌈
Wow! I love the minimalist use of tools! Most of the makers on KZread would have used about $5000 more equipment, but you produced a working scissor linkage with a grinder and a drill press! That takes some skill!
A great project and very cool lamp.
Very cool lamps!
Stunning work! I love how you have thought through every detail as always. Thanks!

Love the cable management. Also the fabric coated flex looks great, after seeing you use it here and Simone use it on her Spool I just want to use it to replace all the cables in my flat.

Another great video Laura. I'm definitely gonna lift this design when I next work on shop lighting.
Awesome work.
Uma super produção Hollywoodiana!!! Very, very nice!!
Beautiful job!😍
Another great video! I love the way you put it together! Just a suggestion for when you have to do the same operation to a lot of individual parts (drilling, shaping), stack them and tack them together. While each hole will take longer to drill, it'll cut down your overall time at the drill press and all the holes will be in exactly the same spot (as long as all the parts were lined up when tacked together!) if you tacked at the ends you could start rounding the corners off and then as you get to the final shape, grind off the tacks. That way you wont have burn marks in the middle of your part.
So cool! Love the final piece, looks amazing. Where did you get the bulb socket and cord? Love the cloth cord.
You always have the best music in your videos.
Such an awesome design & execution! You are the best!
