She had better producers and songwriters to work with in the beginning. Her father likely micromanaged all the producers and songwriters that gave her songs.

If there's one thing that needs to be understood about not only LaToya, but the entire Jackson family was how much the abuse from the Jackson father really had lasting influence on their self-esteem, which is why they all tend 2 be soft-spoken & shy in interviews. It doesn't matter how good-looking u may be, if you have no confidence in urself, you're always going to find something wrong with you. & I definitely believe the Jackson kids all suffered from that to some degree, Michael especially.

I can answer that for you Latoya must’ve felt insane jealousy and heartache when Janet Jackson became the breakthrough female Jackson family superstar!!! It was sadly all over for Latoya Jackson music wise by 1986. She was 30 years old at the time & she never gained any traction in the music industry of with the public. she was considered a failed popstar even back then before the crazy Jack Gordon years.
