This guy is spot on. Mattress industry is crazy corrupt. Get yourself some 8" springs, a 3" latex topper, and a zippered mattress cover. Boom. Done. Best bed ever.

Any recommendations for 8" springs, a 3" latex topper, and a zippered mattress cover? Thanks!
I thought he was being honest because he explained the differences but pointed out that it comes down to personal preference

Lol at the memory foam shame
I grew up with a latex mattress in the 1950s. Now going back to one. This video is really helpful.
I've had a very high quality 100% latex mattress over the past 8 years. As a larger side sleeper I found it doesn't yield the best support and I frequently get lower back pain from lack of spinal alignment.

So what mattress is it? Where did you get it?
My current setup is a homemade hybrid. 4 inch latex topper on a basic firm innerspring mattress.
Super helpful info! Thank you!
Good to know about the hybrid side sleeping thing. We just ordered a tight top pocket coil mattress and plan to add a latex topper to make our own "hybrid" mattress.
This was great. Thank you.
So what you're saying is it's all a crapshoot until you try it out for yourself...so make darn sure there's a return policy!

Thanks for the video. I didn't see any other videos comparing the 2 types of cores. You said you have to go and try out what feels best. That is hard to do with so many internet-based options. I guess it is just... see if you can find what you like locally and if not or if you want to try to save some money, do some initial research to determine what you think will be best, then order one and try it out until you find one that works.
Thank you
thanks very helpful
Great vid
We bought a temperpedic cloud in 2012 because we are both mostly side sleepers and it was great until about 7 years and then I noticed a lack of support beginning in 2019. Here we are in 2023 still dealing with it as I just can't decide on what mattress to trust again. I thought $5000 for seven good years a bit much. I am currently putting a folded towel under a foam topper to get some support. The other consideration is that my husband has gained 50 to 60 lbs since 2012 and is now at 250. I'm at 116. So I'm thinking we will need to go firmer for longevity with mattress topper for cushioning the joints. He also sleeps hot and I don't. Have considered a split king but don't want an XL. I am really missing the Serta Perfect Sleeper , top of the line, we got in 1987 or so. Got 18 years out of it by flipping. So comfortable! Looking for that AH! feeling I always felt when I laid on it. :(
What if you had a soft talalay on top then a med dunlop and then firm dunlop. Wouldn't that solve the problem of bottoming out if you are a side sleeper? Especially if you weigh over 250? or say 2 soft talalay and a firm dunlop? I can feel the springs pushing back on the hybrids and I always bottom out on the memory foams. Have yet to try latex. Im still on the hunt for that right mattress for a heavy side sleeper.
Where can i buy the king zoned pocket coils for our diy mattress ? don't see it as an option on your site.. Thanks
I bought a Tempurpedic mattress when Tempurpedic was new and it was the original and only mattress they sold. It's very dense and only nine inches deep which worked great on my adjustable bed. I want to have that exact mattress again but Tempurpedic no longer sells it. Can you tell me who sells a very dense 100% Latex foam mattress that's only nine inches deep?
I want to go hybrid
I have ms, which is better for firmness, I sleep on my back but, my mom tells me I tend to turn over on my stomach. I do not like the falling feeling that I tend to have on some mattresses.
Which brand is good for certified latex beds? Because there all online dont wanna buy junk...brands do know
This is a question of durability between latex base core versus pocketed coil base.
We tried a latex hybrid from sleep ez and loved it for about a year...then the springs broke down and had impressions then we hated it. Back hurt, neck hurt. If i buy another it will have no springs
Will this spring bottom work with a adjustable bed?
@sdmattressmakers

Yes, we have found no problem with pocketed coils working with adjustable beds.
I just ordered the Botanical Bliss 12 inch in medium- I hope I ordered the right one. I chose the all latex because I was concerned it would cause to much pressure as they only have about 4 inches of latex. I am about 5’5” and 212# kinda nervous 😬

quality matress. A good bedbase is also something highly important here. In my case I do have an electrical adjustable flexible slatted bed base. These bed bases are also adjustable to adjust the suInteresting how the bedsystem is different in America comparing in Europe. My matress is only 9.5 inches, pocket coils, with only about 2 inches memory foam and my matress is concidered as a highpport. It is also common here that partners do have their own slatted base and mattress in a double bed, even often have their own duvets. Sleeping comfort is very personal, I can't imagin to not have my own matress. Also matress covers are having a zipper to be able to wash them every 3 months or so.

That full latex will outlast anything.
Innersprings can absorb your weight better but the fabric that they put across it can easily put pressure on your hips as it kind of limits the flexibility.
Ok I'm 225lbs will a 3in latex topper be enough to support me if I go with the hybrid or should I go with 2 two inch toppers?

depends on body size. If you are larger then get a thicker latex layer.
Hi, I have tried multiple beds the last few months and have decided to try latex since none of them were right for me. Can you tell me which latex bed you would recommend for me? I am 120 pounds, combination sleeper. I do not like the feel of memory foam and prefer more of a traditional mattress feel, like I am on top of the mattress rather than sinking into it. I sleep hot, and all of the hybrid beds I have tried claim to be cooling but are not at all. I prefer a balance of soft but firm for support. I have watched so many videos as well as read many reviews and cannot figure out which would be best for me and I am tired of buying and returning. Please help!

I have the same issues as you and have seen tons of reviews, all of which just confused me more. I’m currently leaning toward a DIY all-latex mattress, which has 3 - 5 layers of latex encased in a zippered cotton cover from The Latex Mattress Factory. You can unzip it and flip the layers, and/ or change them around to adjust firmness/softness. From what I’ve read, latex mattresses are more durable than hybrids, are breathable, and toxin-free. It’s not cheap, but should last 15-20 years. A 10” mattress was recommended for our body weight.

Try Plushbeds Latex Botanical Bliss. They have layers which you can customize and their customer service is superb. I bought 2 and made the mistake of buying Medium (firmness), which was too soft for me. Contacted them and they sent me another extra firm layer for free and it was perfect. I’m planning to buy another one for my parents. The thing with plushbeds is that the edges can be really soft and sinks down when you sit. Just the edges though. I recommend getting at least medium-firm to firm if you don’t like it too soft/plush.

Great question! Our personal opinion that we recommend is 3”. We have one with 2” but that mattress leans more on the firmer side. If you like a firmer mattress then a 2” might work for you but with 3” you have more options when it comes to comfort. We found that 3” is the sweet spot!

@@sdmattressmakers Would this same 2"-3" advice apply to a person that is looking for a latex topper? I purchased a new "medium" pillow top innerspring mattress that turned out to be too firm. I sleep on my side and it's been good for spinal alignment, but I'm getting some hip pain. I tried to fix it with a 3" Serene foam topper and it didn't help so I was thinking of trying a 2" or 3" Dunlop *soft* latex topper. Do you sell the latex toppers? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!!!

Go with a healthier partner
Which one offers more bounce and better responsiveness?
@sdmattressmakers
2 жыл бұрын
Latex Hybrids are going to have a bit more bounce because latex already has a bit of bounce since it is rubber, and then you add the springiness of coils, and that will give you even more bounce. So if you prefer a mattress that has a more buoyant or bouncy feel, I would recommend the Hybrids. Hope this helps.

I use pure latex, king koil, paradise, good bounce, responsiveness., extremely happy, However sythetic may give better bounce. But why need so much bounce, one may get tossed up in the air :-)
Why is it on latex 9" for less same mattresses and you want alot more is $799.00 size twinxl at latex for less factory. And they will mail it to you. What's the difference. Latex Dunlop & Talalay is latex. What makes it more expensive?
@jasonhenninger8220

No. Dunlop vs Talalay represent different manufacturing processes. Talalay tends to be more uniform and spongy. Talalay is more expensive to manufacture.

@@hrvstmn31 If you're still curious, I've worked in bedding nearly 10 years and yeah, this guy in the video is full of B.S... I'm shocked he would claim the hybrid would last longer than a full latex. That's wrong. Look at the true specs on any "Latex Hybrid", and you will see layers of polyurethane foam as well, which is a cheap, low density foam that will begin breaking down as body impressions in the first few years. A full latex mattress will last much, much longer, and sleep cooler. Support & comfort-wise, that's subjective, but the hybrid will soften and break down over time, losing its support and comfort much faster than a full latex. Hope that helps.
It's pretty obvious this guy is being dishonest to the viewers, probably because he's overstocked on hybrids and needs to get rid of them. You can tell by his hesitant speech. All other bed maker videos get right down to it and tell you the Latex is hands down the better buy.
