​@@Klont123 Ok, this is what happened (I copy paste cause I'm tired of explaining it): The referee had just given advantage to Argentina for a foul on Messi, who was pushed in the back when bringing down the ball in the centre, from a pass from the left back area of the pitch. Based on how Messi gestured to the ref, he stopped the play so that Argentina would get back possession for the foul. However, the ref did the following: - Not award Argentina the ball for the foul on Messi that made him give advantage (which should have happened, under normal circumstances) - Award Netherlands the ball (which should not have happened, under normal circumstances since no advantage was gained by Argentina, on the play) - Not give Messi a yellow (which is understandably confusing, because he'd just handled the ball) Messi's logic seems to have been "stop the play, so that Argentina get the ball, since there was no advantage" The referee's logic seems to have been "No Messi, you just can't do it that way. I'm giving the ball to Netherlands." Conclusion: The referee was an idiot again, as he showed during the entire match.

Either way, referees don’t like to give star players a card (which in this case imo would have been just, because of ‘intentionally ruining the play’). I’m calling the referee a Messi fan because of 3 things that should have resulted in a (different) card. - no card for the handball - no card for kicking the ball intentionally in the reserve bench (should be red, that was just psychopath behavior) - yellow instead of red for the ridiculous tackle on Ake

I'm from The Netherlands and although I'm disappointed about the outcome, I really enjoyed this game. It had everything. Brilliant moments, great tactics, questionable referee decisions, drama on and off the field. I mean, that pass from Messi was absolutely genius. But so was the late equalizer by Weghorst. Netherlands vs Argentina never disappoints. We'll meet again!

Look. I'm from Argentina. But this is one of the best sport matches I've ever seen. Seriously. Netherlands tactics were infallible and they played with their hearts out. Argentina capitalized it's occasions but tried to be too careful with a team that is, even without a WC Title, one of the best teams in the tournament history. This also shows how difficult is to win one WC match is despite the opponent. Now imagine winning the tournament. Superb football match. I was at the edge of my seat all the time. Heart wrenched. That's true competition. Sorry for the friction and bad words that come with a nerve wrecking event such as this one. We love you people and hope we can meet again!!!! The Dutch played only 10 minutes out of 120, throwing balls into the Argentine box like the English used to play 30 years ago. At times emotions dont let people see what really happen in the pitch Argentina were clearly the better team, they should have never ever gone for penalties. I wasn't that much worried about it and part of me wanted to go to penalties because I knew Emi would do this again, and I wanted him to show off, also Lautaro last penalty was escential, he was missing many ocassions in earlier matches, he ask for it actually, and face off 4 dutch players and the keeper, then put it in. I was going to support Argentina if they won against the Netherlands (I'm biased, I'm from the Netherlands). Unfortunately Argentina showed poor sportsmanship which imo lead to unfortunate events unfolding from both sides. I believe Argentina deserved 2 red cards which the referee didn't give. Therefore I believe the ref was biased as well. Tl;dr I can't support Argentina like this, so I guess I'm rooting for Croatia now.

Messi should’ve received yellow for hands, parades should’ve been sent off, van dijk should’ve received a card for yeeting parades and timber also deserved a red. The penalty was questionable but justified imo. Just very unlucky

I think this was the hardest match of the WC for Argentina. Those Dutch were giants.

Of all the games I watched this deserves to be game of the tournament

my heart was in my throat when they got one last chance to make it 2-2 and then they did it. phenomenal.

Argentina was unbelievable and Messi was from another planet as for the Dutch they have a great team too and they return home as the only unbeaten team of the tournament.

Nah bruh, we will serve some nasty flash backs on that 3-0 winn 4 years ago in russia, just get your popcorns sit tight and watch how croatian army advancing in the final, and its what oponent team deserve cos they treating netherlands players very bad, and van gaal also, so yeah, its pay back time.

That Messi assist isn't spoken about enough. For me it's the greatest assist ever in football. The entire sequence needs to be studied over and over because when you zoom in on his legs and in slow motion during the body swerve on Ake, he changed direction mid air which literally makes it seem as if he's floating. Like FULLY shifted his entire body in a split second which confused Ake and let him take a step back allowing Messi to get 1 extra step before the ridiculous weight of pass. There's not a soul on this earth who saw it coming and everything just slotted in beyond perfection. I still think about this one weekly.

La mejor jugada en cuanto estrategia que he visto en un mundial, lo realizó Paises bajos y; lo concretó Weghorst, encima en el ultimo minuto. Fue un partido muy emocionante, pero pienso que los holandeses pudieron demostrar mucho mas si no fuera por el mal planteamiento de Van Gaal. Contra la Argentina no tenés que esperar, debes ir a por el gol y rápido, luego cuidar la ventaja, porque la Scaloneta es la mejor selección del mundo.
