Long time viewer here, and I normally think you have solid opinions and are fun to listen to. However, on some level Georgia has a culture problem, and there is a lot of nuance to this. It just can’t happen as many times as it has, and not be a culture problem. My perspective is kind of all the same points you had about it not being a culture problem. Players are clearly enabling it with the amount of cases, and if the staff or players can’t correct it, then that is a culture problem. Not a terminal one per se, but still a culture problem.

I recently watched Maurice Clarret on the Jim Tressel podcast and he brought up an interesting point I had forgotten all about. He referred to the fact that going into the Michigan game he and his teammates NEVER mentioned going on to play Miami for the Natty. Never even was in their mindset. Beating Michigan was what mattered. All that mattered. Tressel was 9-1 against Michigan. His only loss came the following season when the narrative started about winning back to back Natty's. They lost. I found that an interesting conversation. And your right on point about the Buckeyes going 11-0 then losing losing that game could destroy the season. Our fans our very sensitive to that scenario. We've seen it too many times. As John Cooper. He was 2-10-1 against Michigan. I love both coaches. But the difference in their legacies is their success this game.

One of the arrests this past weekend was because the driver crossed a solid yellow line to go around a car stopping at a parking deck entrance. Yes, that's it - in Georgia you can be cuffed for that if the officer wants to charge you with reckless driving. If you cross solid yellows to go around a stopped bus or garbage truck you can be similarly charged and cuffed in Georgia if the officer feels like it, and thousands of drivers still do it every day.

As I expect the interesting thing is going to be how ACC and the big 12 are perceived among the media and fans of college football versus the Big Ten and SEC because of schedule difficulty.

I think you really have to define what a tier 1 team is. Is it based on past, how much does past factor in, is it NIL money, recruiting recently, current roster? Is it who’s outbidding who in recruiting? Tier 1 seems like such a loaded question. Is it who has a chance at playing for the SEC championship? Does strength of schedule matter now that there is no divisions? Obviously drawing Vandy, Kentucky, Arkansas, Miss State helps more than Ole Miss, Tennessee, A&M, or LSU. I’d just like to know the metrics, because regardless of Texas and OU joining, I have a feeling there are some sleep giants that are about to wake up. It’s a different world now.

Obviously whatever they’re doing isn’t working. Can we agree on that? The players arrested were going over 75 in a 40, and one wrecked his car. Clearly the message is not getting across to the players with whatever “punishment” they are facing. Can’t keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Time to cut playing time and/or kick players off the team.

I agree with JP. If Georgia is truly an elite program, which of course they are, it is largely player led. This problem needs to be taken care of in the locker room by the players. If they decide to kick them off the team, so be it. If not, they need to make sure it never happens again

  • @BlackMountainCycles

“They need to make sure it never happens again.” That’s not happening though. Players and staff have literally died and it keeps happening repeatedly over a year later. At a certain point you have to stop hoping for some fairytale Disney-esque talk between the players, and the people actually in charge need to step in.

Kirby hasnt done the one of 2 options that could stop it. Either a full season suspension of a star player. Or start kicking off the team. Do it once especially to a star player and everyone would stop real quick. But Kirby wont do that as all he cares about is winning. He runs a rogue program
