Having observed (watched) many trucker's videos on KZread over the years, your videos are, by far, the most entertaining and informative videos by a trucker (and rancher and farmer) I have seen yet... You have the gift that makes your videos interesting no matter what subject you cover... I especially like the videos with your children (they're adorable)!!! Keep up the good work and keep those videos rolling (as well as your truck(s))...

40 yrs. OTR & yes my back & knees are shot. Thru the 60's, 70's & 80's the C.O.E.'s beat me up . Longnose's thru the 90's till Sept. , of 2000 when I gave up. Disability took over. Love your atitude toward life. Stay safe my friend. Dave
These damn floor duecers!
After 44 years of trucking , NOTHING SUPRISES ME . I just shake my head when in the spring after the snow melts you see the off ramps with 20 or more piss bottles on the side . That's the difference between a trucker and a paycheck steering wheel holders. Also Freightliner has always been known as ( freight shakers ) Have a great week .

20? Try 200 minimum
I remember when they laid down I-5 in the 60's it was smooth as a silk ribbon! Now it's a mess. Pop shook his head while watching the process and said it wouldn't hold up. Post WWII my pop was in the army corps of engineers laying down roadbeds for the new interstate system all over the south and those road bases are still solid today.

That’s neat!
Fun stuff, we get weekly loads of hominy, and DDG delivered to our dairy in NE Texas, typically comes from Missouri, or the I states, and by the time it gets down here it is packed on. DDG’s are the worst, especially in the summer months with the extra heat, and humidity. One driver that comes here regularly always has the easiest unloads. He had an old trucker tell him years back that try not to load in the rain so as soon as you get loaded go find the nearest truck stop and park, then unroll your tarp, and take a 3hr nap so that way you can get some rest while all the heat escapes out of the load. It really works well, he always unloads easy!! I still bought my own walnut knocker, to have…I’m amazed how many drivers don’t have their own knockers, or vibrator at all.🥴
@realwildwildwest

Ahh that’s smart about unrolling the tarp ! I agree ddgs are the worst of all!
I had a portable vibrater that I could slide in a fixed bracket on the trailer..So I would set it on the pit grate & flip it on when it bridged over.Also learned to wet my trailer down when hauling meat meal..Slides down without poking from outside top..
As always Jax LOVE your positive out look and your videos 💖🙏

That's the reason I kept my truck in the Moffett left land that I called the Hurricane lane when I was leased onto them out of Sonora AR. We always were in the Hammer lane doing our thing. They didn't call me Bear-Bait for nothing. We used to have to use a rubber hammer to bank on our belly dumps to get the products out of them. Labor is money to me the longer it takes to unload ought to pay lumper fees too, time is money.

Gotta think, the roads feel tougher for us drivers because if a car pitches 1” from a lot hole and truck will pitch 4” because of the height difference.

To be honest I have just traveled from New Mexico to California and I'll tell you Arizona needs to step up their Game with road improvements, I hit a pot hole that I thought I bent a rim luckily I did not.
Yes , agreed , Driver ... Indiana roads compared to Illinois is like night & Day ... Illinois has always shown Indiana how its done ... there was a stretch of a few short years where I would go to Chicago 10 - 15 times a month , or every day , and Indiana has the kidney-busters , fer shure ... I went down to Tell City yesterday , but I took that new 69 - Boy , was that a mistake !
Thank you for keeping life on the road real .. the good the bad , the ugly and the 🤢🤮 Oh if you want bad roads come to New Zealand ours are disgusting 😢 We are in the midst of a cyclone at the moment .. which will make out roads far worse!! they just Announced we in Taranaki have a red warning ⛔️ …. Im safe where I live we are in for heavy rain and gale force winds . Stay safe Love your road tripping across the USA and showing us your trucking world ❤ Ps loving the podcasts 🥰😇

From the sounds of the rain, and hey growth/ daily forage for cattle, and other livestock. Is typical of most of Texas north and west, last year one cutting on average, and I never stopped sitting round bales out from Nov of 21, and still sitting bales out, because even though thankfully we've had plenty of rain, ice, and some snow. We're like y'all occasionally in the 60's, but more in the 40's, and dropping below freezing too often especially at night for anything to take off with any real growth. That's if the clover survived two years of drought, and the weeds haven't completely taken over. Since hays been so hard to get, and I don't have enough pasture to support both grazing, and hay production. I buy all my hay, and although I look at the hay bales I buy before buying it, you can't see what's in every pasture they're cutting from, are what's around the edges up against the neighbors fence lines. Because of this I've gotten bitter weeds infestation, and I am fighting it with everything I know how to, and what I can learn from the old men been around doing this for longer than my 63 years of age. This spring I'm hoping my efforts prove worth the effort as far as that nasty crap goes, and not that I plan on giving up, but sure will be disheartening if that crap comes back thicker than ever, because I'm almost to the point of selling everything just to rage war against it. Bad thing about having to do that, is the county agent that over agriculture is bad enough about dropping your exception even with livestock onit. I don't want that battle too on top of the weeds, and my concern now even though I've reduced my stock on my pasture, but if it doesn't warm up in next week or so I'm going to get the pleasure of paying $100.00 dollars a roll for hay on top of nearly $14.00 dollars a bag for range cubes . Things have gotta change for the beef producers in our country, I don't know what large ranches go through, but the small mom and pop places are going broke trying to help feed our country, and although we don't produce anything compared to the big places. Take us outta the loop, and we're even further behind production annually, and it's what alot of us do to feed our families too, because you can't afford to buy it at town. I'm single, and I can't eat enough by myself to justify butchering one for myself so I eat pork and chicken most every meal, because I can't afford what I raise. As you know we don't make anything close to the price per pound of cheap hamburger meat at the store. It's totally upside down, and we need to level the playing field, even the hay producers, and feed mills get better percentage of pay than we do. It's a shame that the ones growing the food of our country and the world suffer for their efforts. I'm done rants over. But pray for continued rain for all of us that our lives depend upon it more than people understand.
Well Jax I seen these things I in back of the mind you try to ignore it I enjoy your videos every time thanks for sharing

“Their is some trucker out there just dropping deuces in the shower” 😂 laughing so hard, but so gross at the same time!
Howdy love the scenery you make truck driving look adventurous I know the mental and physical challenges it can be being away from home and family !
I hauled a few loads of meat scraps from the packing house in a hopper. They smelled really good and unloaded maybe worse than what you experienced. One time hauled bone chips from IBP to Knox gelatin where they made the capsules for pills. They unloaded like dry corn.
Yeah I have had similar experiences, one was north thru the Pilliga, pulled over at a rest stop, and it looked like they backed up to the door and just aimed in the general direction of the toilet, there was bits of 2 everywhere... needless to say I carried on before doing my download!! The joy of driving trucks... Isn't it strange how some roads are so good and some so terrible, even within states here in Australia. Would love to see more of the scenery, be it time lapse or normal speed or both. I've never been to the US of A so that would be good. Stay safe out there, mate 🚛🚛🚛
They found me. I don't know how, but they found me. Would there be any benefit to getting one of those 3-4 camera "dash-cam" setups that has a DVR to capture some road footage??
Illinois has the worst roads ive ever felt is so bad in that state
Dang Jax!!!! I really wish you would have let me know you were down here in in KC, KS!!! I would enjoy treating you to breakfast or lunch. Ever been to Joe's BBQ?? Next time you are down this way let me know and you can give me that shirt with the WWW on the back!! 🙂😉
looking Good Driver 👀✌
Hauled alot of meal Bean Meat and bone Wheat midds DDG and thats why it pays good because of the time involved when you haul so much meal it keeps your trailer slicked up you need a good tarp a good broom and a driver that knows where to beat on the trailer like your stuff stay safe
I could count the amount of times my brother called me, Well if I don't make it I saying my good byes now..From Kansas City Got so dam old
Life on the road! I pull a fifth wheel for leisure and in the beginning of the video when you were going over the bridges and the truck was making noises and the trailer's bouncing I could relate so much to that, it gets like in a harmonic bounce, I live in Texas and we have pulled the fifth wheel to Florida several times and driving through Louisiana over the bayou's and the swamps those bridges get long winded and boy let me tell you that's some rough interstate and seams on the bridges.

There is some good conversation for Steady At The Wheel for you and your Brother. Get your Dad to talk about back in the days about the good old Body Killer Hendrickson Spring Suspentions, The Ken worth Big SIX spring suspentions, The good old Chalmers Suspentions, and good old Mack Camel Back spring systems. And the never ever forget the good old Hendrickson R and RS suspentions. and the Plywood floors, and good old favorite never foreget Bostrom Spring ride seats with little short back on then that never reached even the shortest persons shoulder blades. I am sure your dad can tell ya all, and Veiwers some good stories about tough trucking. Along if you figured out the Spot on the dash, you could mash you fist down hard enough to get the heater fan to turn, or the raidio to kind of sort of work. and power steering was just a dream, not a thing. But however the showers were so diffrent, you could get a totally free shower with a fill up. Now they want 14.00 bucks for a shower up here. And, And the best part was we did have way better Meals out there on the road, Because the truck stops and fuel stations all had the Mom & Pop Restraunts with some of the best home cooked meals. Not the ICKY RESTRAUNT TRAIN tastes exactly the same meals that some one thinks they taste good so every one has to eat the same. That was a reason towards the end of my time driving I bought what I wanted to eat and used the rest areas I could make a fire to make my own dinners.

Watching you pull hopper bottoms has me thinking. It seems like there would be regional busy seasons as the weather warms much like the produce seasons for reefer in FL and CA. Maybe on your podcast you could touch on if there are revolving seasons for hopper bottoms? If so, I think I could make some money there. If not, then it's just another crazy idea I hatched while bouncing down the road today
@realwildwildwest

Depending where you live, usually the best seasonal gig for a hopper is hauling fertilizer in the early spring. Potentially some harvest time work as well. Lots of fertilizer gets hauled to the fertilizer dealers prior to spring seeding.

We are not getting our normal rain fall here in Molalla, Oregon.
That’s why I always wear flip-flops or slides or whatever you want to call them for shower shoes I don’t wanna be stepping in somebody else and stuff or pick it up some foot fungus from somebody else from a poorly clean shower and I’ve been in a lot of showers. Current company I’m working for uses. The pilot flying J is in. There are some that I won’t set foot in and there are some that are just a pleasure but I go across country weekly primarily I 40 but sometimes I drop down to as far south as interstate eight coming out of San Diego. They coming for across 8 to 10 to 20. Right now it’s so hot outside the tires disintegrate under a heavy load at the posted speed limit but yeah back to the shower thing. I agree with you on that that’s just disgusting. I will admit that I pee in a jug sometimes but I recycle wet sucker. I don’t leave my pee in it leave it laying around. But when you’re at a stop before they open up waiting for them to open the gates for hours and you’ve got to pee and you’re on a relatively busy street you do what you gotta do.
Move your ranch to Florida, you'll get inches of rain every day during summer.
Man I know the feeling of hauling bone meal feather meal I haul it in a belt trailer even that takes a hour to unload into a pit
Sorry to say jackson theres idiots everywere! You deserve better!
Prolly should have shakers on the floor grates.
👍
@WildWildWest So there is a new name for the Jack Russel terriers: Jax Russel terriers... 😂
can't you overcome the bridging problem with another hopper vibrator? If you rig one into your piping that can be somehow 'clamped' to the grates in the floor, then the vibration should break the bridging and let the material flow down through the grate. Also, suggest to the location manager to get some short portable conveyors to direct the material from the misaligned hopper chute towards the grate .. less shoveling to do.
@realwildwildwest
Жыл бұрын
Yeah some trailers rig up a lot of vibrators on there and it helps for sure. We haul so many other products that we don’t need vibrators for that it’s kindove a cost benefit situation. If I did more dedicated meal loads, I’d definitely do it like you say 🙌🏼
