They didn't issue uniforms, they waited until the civilians were about to leave before training them in weapons, they "neglected" to tell some of them how to take their weapon off Safe, because of a "glitch," they made them come out in the future at 1500 feet (some of them coincidentally over a swimming pool), and they didn't tell them where the alien vital points are. It was a great practical joke. Putting the precious toxin in a thin glass test tube was pretty funny too.

When you have a f--king time machine and the best idea you can come up with for stopping an alien invasion is to bring people from the past into the future to be cannon fodder in your war rather than using your time machine to end the war before it begins...

Lmao imagine writing such a dumb comment before watching, or knowing anything about the movie. They clearly bring that up in the movie that due to the aliens they only have one machine and it only lets them go 10 years(or what ever it is) into the future and back, and they cant choose the time. So what every time in the present they use those machines ,they will be sent exactly 10 years ahead. So as time moves in the present, so does the 10 years mark in the future. They cant just choose any year and time to go to

It’s so that reality is more propeared for the future

I mean the whole idea of going to the past and ask for troops is just stupid, it just ended up weaken the past for the invasion that's what to come. Previous movie with time travel has already gone through the idea of forsaken its current timeline just to change the timeline from the past, but this do the opposite. And in case people say multiverse series, then it just strengthen the idea of not helping the future because it will be a different universe completely

"To see Miami in ruins." You mean Miami on an average Tuesday.

So he has one mission, remove the device. He has his dad to do it. Decides to chuck a tantrum and bail on the procedure. A real military man right there 🎖️🪖

It was unrealistic in the 80s but Hollywood likes cutsey scenes like this. You'd have to go back to the 50s to see lots of people on the street when women would be talking to their neighbours as phones weren't common, men would be mowing grass, fixing up cars and kids would be outside due to lack of tv.

lmao no its not. Thats my neighborhood in the summer when it gets nice. People jogging, walking, people out in their front lawns mowing, and enjoying the sun. Last week when it was the first day of 80 degree weather, I couldn't drive down a street without seeing people outside.

I feel like the whole time travel aspect seemed a little under-used or even unnecessary, would've been a cool irony that them going after the spaceship is what somehow released them in the first place (how they managed to find the ship's exact location in Russia is anyone's guess), or that the toxin they developed is what actually created them, like some trippy paradox. I mean the fact that in only 30 years time they literally invent time-travel (but all other tech is still the same), but use it to recruit people from the past for the slaughter instead of like, oh I dunno, doing exactly what Chris Pratt did and find out where they came from in the first place? Why was he the only one to think of that? Also Cowen and Nora deserved better.

because hollywood this decade is full of sad endings or shock value endings just to rile up people to feel emotional in order to make movie plot feel "deep" but its just a cheap sense of arrogance when people just want feel good endings and feel good plots that are relatable and enjoyable, not to see an "art"
