GROUP HUG y’all!!!!

Something I learned this year was to stop trying to gift something that fills a hole in their life, but rather an exquisite version of something they use all the time. It's helped me sooo sooo much and will probably help a lot of other people, too.

I like to gift my mom pedicures or facials from me. She works late and usually can't get to the nail shop, so for her birthday and stuff I'll do that and she actually says I do a better job than her nail tech! I also have detailed her car, organized her office and prepared her meals for dinner for a week, all as Christmas gifts.

And also, my mom is kind of hard to shop for LOL if she wants something she'll just go out and buy it so I love providing a service as opposed to something she may have duplicates of 🤣❤️

The letter mention made me cry- I’ve done this for so many people over the years and only ever gotten two and each time it was one of the most impactful moments of my life and definitely the best gifts I’ve ever received. We underestimate how special this can be to people, especially in a time of year that’s so fcking hard for many 💛

A friend gave me a letter once, around 8 years ago. No special occasion, but it was a hard time for me even several years after my dad passed. It was something he simply decided to give to people that he really valued. Absolutely nothing fancy about it, he used black paper to make the envelope and some random paper for the letter. No special lettering. But it was heartfelt. Not long or particularly poetic. To this day it is one of the gifts that has meant the most to me. Just thinking of it is comforting

Ok, two things: 1. These are actually some bomb ideas. Will defs be stealing. 2. You are far and beyond my favorite parasocial relationship. Hearing you talk legit sounds like hanging out with a friend, which goes a long way in brightening my day. Have a great holidays and enjoy some time off!

I'm so suggestible. Since watching this video I've bought 2 tartan blankets, the glass candlesticks with taper candles and 2 of the board game. Also just ordered 2 tartan table runners 😂

We live in a condo building and got our next door neighbors and friends a christmas ornament that literally said "I wish you lived next door to me" It is now hilarious because they get to explain that the people who live next door got them that ornament. Maybe I just have a weird sense of humor.

The best gift to myself has been this channel, I re-watch videos all the time. Even though I've done my Christmas shopping already - we do potlucks and Secret Santa since a few years now - I do like the idea of a personal letter as a gift. You only hope to get it so right they'll actually keep it forever 😅

@@Caroline_Winkler yes exactly! It was more of a demand than suggestion from my mom 🥲 but it's worked out great. Pro tip to anyone reading, make sure to switch up who organizes the potluck every year to keep it fun!

I have a friend that sends me handwritten cards annually and it's such an incredibly lovely gift to receive! I treasure them deeply. (also, I LOVE your hair in this video! You're almost making me want bangs despite my phobia of them ever since I had ugly short bangs in 7th grade lol)

I hope you send cards back to your friend. We used to do this for years, and finally stopped, because no one ever wrote back. Not even a signed card. (Note: this comment's just a coincidence. My wife and I are doing Xmas cards now and talking about this very thing.)

I'm grateful for this channel. Your journey with quitting acting and relinquishing a big portion of your identity to make room for the new self is so relatable for me, and it's comforting to know that there are others in their thirties who are still figuring things out but who are flowing with life and finding their way. It gives me hope.

My college aged child gives me a written letter for Christmas every year and I love it for 2 reasons, first is because it’s so meaningful and thoughtful and second, I don’t like people spending money they don’t have …. The letter is better ❤ (sorry for the run on sentence 😅) love your videos 🥳 carry on!

Caroline, Your speeches are always great, so keep them coming :-) For years I have asked my daughters to write me letters for my birthday and/or mother's day. It has been great for all of us to express and receive these heartfelt notes. I love that you suggested this. Particularly LOVE the tall candle idea and the Chameleon game. As someone who is old enough to be your mum, I have everything I need and so do my mum and husband. I buy myself something nice and tell my husband he can give it to me Xmas morning. I buy him something he has specified and give to him on Xmas morning. Mum and I do 'an experience' together. This is gonna sound so lame but honestly one of my fav memories of my life was at a music festival and there was a children's performer (Fred Penner for my Canadians out there) doing a show for a bunch of us nostalgic millennials, and in the middle of the show we all did a giant group hug with probably 200 people and it was amazing.

sadly networks tend to be very controlling, they would have to be willing to let her be in control of every creative aspect of the show, i think she's doing alright by being an independent creator.

Great ideas! The letter is the best! I do remember when my Aunt said she loved reading my card and she was so appreciative. The experience is also great because we just don’t spend enough time with those that we love. Thanks Caroline! We sometimes forget and need these reminders.
