Has anyone played the revised version? If so, is it worth looking into?

I felt we missed something the first time round with this one. We had an idea to use dice for movement and that helped to improve it (D6 for the Killer and D12 for campers).

Tom, you should check out Camp Grizzly. It does this theme a lot better.

Noooo why!? Why did they have to muddle it up so much with the chapters. Man, we really need this genre of a game but done well. Super bummed out

"The murderer can run faster than anybody". Just to be clear, did you notice that (excluding use of tokens and combos) the murderer moves only one spot per turn, while campers move two per turn - and also that some part of maps favor the murderer's movement, while other parts favor the campers?

Leo T. Well yes, for example in moving from 122 to 123 the murderer crosses three victim dots. But then moving on to 124 he crosses only one.

On our first play. As the murderer, I couldn't catch anyone. I could barely move and the campers just got away. :(

Demo'ed this at Gencon. The demo-er only had us play with 2 of the 5 and we were dead in like 6 turns. I walked away thinking pretty much what Tom took away from it. We only went through episode 1 or what ever they called it, and the way she made it sound was that each game mode was it's own game.

I bought it. I haven't played it yet but i like the idea. I don't mind critics but in the end it comes down to who plays and what you like. I do like to see what people say and maybe how they play it. I do have a tendency to change games to fit needs. Example is. Warhammer Invasion. Its not very highly recommend last i checked but i love the game. This is what i do. As a basic you have 50 cards that you play. 3 sides to your HQ with nine hits a side. 2 players must burn 2 sides to win and 3 or more players must burn all three sides. What we do is up it basics. We made 4 sides with 12 hits. Making 2 battle field sides and only 1 battlefield can attack on their turn and only to the corresponding side. Like top battlefield can only attack the other players top battlefield and so on. Lastly we play 100 cards. It turns out to be a big battle that lasts hours but the game changes so fast. You think your about to win then nope you get hammered down then your back up again. Its really fun to me and my friends. ANYWAYS!!!!! Back to Last Friday. Some times you want a simple game and you adjust accordingly. I do like others opinions and i haven't really look up games that often.

Heavily thinking about house rules on this one. I find the game quite hard for the maniac, bad welcome token placement and you won't be able to get a kill at all. You also need to know the fast routes as a maniac. In campaign mode only 1 camper needs to reach a safe cabin to progress to the next chapter, I guess that is done to reach chapter 2 easily but it takes all challenge away from the game. And the reward for campers/maniac are not that motivating either. In single chapter mode for the 1st chapter 3 campers need to reach a safe zone, but it does not seem to be that hard to accomplisch either in my plays due to the fact that the maniac can not cover much ground so if campers spread out they pretty much win. Not to mention the clues dropped by the maniac are totally useless in single chapter mode because your not going to move into the direction of the maniac. Already have a whole bunch of idea's how to improve this game, just need to test what works out :-)

It's s shame. I really wanted this to be an amazing game but general consensus seems to be that it is just okay. I have a friend with ADD that is a massive horror fan. I was hoping this would be a game we both could really get into.

"Scotland Yard is not even the best of that genre" What is? I saw another reviewer who highly favored Fury of Dracula, which I'm debating on buying since the current stock may be the end of it with the publisher split.

What I love about Letters from Whitechapel is that it is pure deduction. No dice rolling, special powers etc. You win if you outsmart the other. I enjoy Spectre Ops, but not a game I'd want to play often. Haven't tried FoD.

This game really needs a proper game designer instead of cheap Whitechapel with bloat - which ruins it. So much thematic potential, none realized.

I didn't watch the whole Last Friday movie? I didn't realize there was a movie. (I jest, I jest). But you should NOT have to see a movie to determine whether or not a game is good.

Does it even matter what happens in the first chapters? Isn't only about who wins the final chapter? Too bad, finally a hidden movement game where the one is chasing the many, instead of the usual everyone chasing the one. I hope this idea gets another try.

perry johnson if it ain't a problem some player could not be able to play a single turn in a game, or the fact you can just wait for everybody to be infected and you'll win. Oh, and the fact the thing could start with a flamethrower and there's just another one, and the thing or an infected player could draw it. The game has serious game design issues. But i guess like munchkin it's ok for some players.
