The fact that someone had the idea to put Arnold in a spoof/comedy/action movie when he was in his prime. The fact that they thought to cast Arnold himself as a person in the movie. The fact that Jack went to his own movie premier. The fact that they got all these top rock bands to make songs for the movie (Megadeth's song even sounds like a stereotypical metal song). There is just so much genius all over this movie. They got Robert Patrick to dress a cop and leave the police station. As a kid I thought this was a great action movie. As an adult I can appreciate the sheer genius of it. This is one of my favorite Arnold movies of all time (It probably would be my favorite but nothing will top T2).

The Democrats keep wanting corona to last forever to keep control. But people like myself have been resisting. I'm even in Pennsylvania a blue state where Gov. Wolf was locking down the state so bad it was destroying alot of small businesses. I look back at events like WW2 when Jspan bombed Pearl Harboar. Life returned to normal. We in turn nuked Japan and as bad as that was. Look how they rebuilt. I feel like too many have forgotten the devastation of 9/11 already. I'm 50 now and still have faith.

@SaitaKan Sure, some countries may have damaged their social fabric irreversibly (Australia is a good example, as you don't even have a reasonable option available on the ballot - those who are have no chance of getting elected). But you can always look for those that haven't gone insane, and move there. America has better chances of returning to some form of sanity, at least once the current regime loses power. Europe is a mixed bag, some countries are on the right path, others have gone as insane as Australia or Blue State USA. We need to end this stupid "progress for progress' sake" attitude and return to how things used to be, that's our only hope of returning to the sort of life people had back then, in times we all love to remember.

@@anunusualironiccircumstanc2246 For a movie, everything beyond one year is considered "back-catalogue" by the studios. I think they should bring back these "oldies". If you visit your local cinema today, I bet you have a choice of at least 10 films to choose from, most of them are probably trash but they're all brand-new. I think it would be great if cinemas brought back old movies regularly (let's say reserve 1 screen for returning classics, and see how it goes), we have a public cinema that does this sort of thing in my city, but they only focus on REALLY old stuff (like 1950s or older) and only have 1 screen as far as I know. Especially given today's average movie quality, it would seem a good idea to me to have regular cinemas bring back 1980/90s action classics, evergreens like the Godfather series, or post-Y2K quality films like There Will Be Blood or No Country for Old Men. Instead of showing an awful remake of a 1980s film, why not bring a remastered version of the original back to the big screen?!?

This is actually my favourite Arnie movie after the first two Terminator movies. My favourite Sci-fi/Fantasy movies are time travel ones. I know this movie ISN'T time travel but it has a time travel feel to it eg how the boy knows so much about the characters in the movie especially what Slater is about to say and when the characters come into the real world and meet the actors who play them. Also Slater's superior officer reminds me of Starskey and Hutch's superior officer in the TV series Starskey And Hutch. These were all great plot twists from the movie writers.Plus it's soundtrack featured my favourite 80s/90s rock band,Def Leppard with their song,Two Steps Behind.🎸🥁 This movie deserved a sequel.

@@mrdaman99 Apart from Raw Deal I have seen all the movies that you have listed. I remember when I first saw True Lies I had been browsing my local video store intending to rent out a comedy and the video store lady recommend True Lies even though it wasn't a comedy. Having said that it was so farfetched that I laughed as if it was a real comedy. To me it is a comedic version of James Bond although I can't stand James Bond films as they are farfetched in a swarmy annoying kind of way. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone movies, except perhaps for Rocky, may not have won best picture or best leading actor Oscars but they are great movies and most Oscar winning movies I've tried to watch have been boring and are taken far too seriously by film buffs,in my opinion.

Ieri ho visto i Def Leppard dal vivo. Quando hanno fatto la canzone "two steps behind" ho detto a mio padre che era il brano che si sentiva negli ultimi titoli di coda di questo film. Last Action Hero è uno dei suoi preferiti

Problem was people didn't understand this. They thought it was a straight action movie. It's not. It's a satirical parody of action movies in general.

You know what. After all these simulation theories and parallel realities, this movie clicks different. Seems like this movie was way ahead of its time and yet to be really renowned. See you in this comment section when scientists prove it. Cheers from December 29th, 2022

I've always wondered about this film, why is it titled that way? Why is it called "Last Action Hero"? Why is he the last one? I never could figure that out.

  • @swa7169

The final film has one (surprisingly simple) flaw. In the earlier draft, Danny's father has recently died and he's imagining this action hero as a surrogate father. The action heroes son has died and when they meet in the film world, they form a father-son relationship. But they can't live in the same universe. Death comes to separate them and Danny must let his father go. In the final screenplay, the death of Danny's father is barely alluded to and so NOTHING THAT FOLLOWS MAKES ANY SENSE!
