We witnessed the greatest robbery in figure skating in Sochi. - Despite having one of the technically easiest SP (with a 3T3T), Sotnikova scored decimal points behind Kim (the most difficult SP) - Sotnikova's PCS scores skyrocketted about 20 points since her last competition in january for no reason. - Lakernik (head of tech panel, and the former VP of the Russian skating federation): *Ignored Sotnikova's flutz (mandatory -1GOE. Recieved +1GOE) *Ignored the under-rotation of 3T after the flutz, *Called lvl4 to a step sequence that didn't meet the requirements (refer to Tim Gerber's analysis). She has never received lvl 4 in her FS stsq in any other competition this season. Gave Yuna's clear lvl 4 stsq a lvl 3. - Judge panel: (+ wife of general director of the Russian figure skating federation & judge suspended for trying to fix Nagano Olympics) Step-out/possible 2foot landing = mandatory -2GOE. Gave -0.9GOE. Gave irrational +3 GOEs to Sotnikova (and Lipnitskaya). More than 60% of +3GOEs ("perfect execution") went to the Russians. Sotnikova recieved more +3GOEs than Kim and Kostner combined. This is despite the obvious mistakes and lack of quality. In the past year, Sotnikova only recieved +3 on 5 jump GOEs out of the possible 450 (1.1%). In Sochi, she recieved +3 on 19 jump GOEs (21.1%) * Except for 3L+3T, NONE of the comparable jumps gave Yuna a higher GOE (her jumps were still "textbook".) * e.g. Sotnikova's 2A: barely any transition into the jump and no flow to landing = GOE 1.07. Kim's 2A2T2L: Ina Bauer entry, landing leading into choreography = GOE 0.79 e.g. Sotnikova's 3S: +1.2 despite poor position into jump, barely any height. Yuna's 3S: textbook. +0.9. e.g. Choreo sequence: both got +1.5. Sotnikova's choreo was mostly just two spirals and waving to the judges. Kim packed hers with complex dance elements from tango.

The thing is...Kim Yuna's speed and movement is fluid-like...she's floating...and Gosh! She's just so fast yet graceful! One of a kind. And I haven't seen anyone like her since.

The speed at which Yuna moves across the ice, the grace, intricacy and ease (and again speed!) of her jumps are ridiculous! When you add her musicality and elegance...I have no words. Truly a one of a kind skater.

I’m still upset about Sochi. Yuna Kim and even her mom knew that Yuna wouldn’t be given a chance for gold at Sochi. They were treated very coldly throughout their stay and I commend Yuna for not letting that distract her and put on a spectacular performance.

Юна сама сказала, что в Ванкувере она технично и артистично была готова лучше, чем в Сочи. Аделина технично в произвольной набрала больше за последний каскад и была очень артистична. Юге просто не надо было второй раз приезжать, победила и хватит.

I always feels sorry on how sotnikova take the fall. She doesn't actually cheat, the judges and her coaches n her federation are the one should be hated. She was forced to take the gold, and hated for it, remembered not as the gold medalist, but as the robber. To be fair, I think all champions since 2014 are not valid, their score should be judged without bias, and we can get a true champion.

@@jesslynvania1420 could you kindly inform the world who the true champions are according to your expertise? If Not Scherbakova, then who? If not Zagitova, who would that be? And if you consider yourself so unbiased, why not criticize Sara Hughes, who got gold from the 4th place after short program. Irina Slutskaya was robbed of her gold - they gave her 5.6 for artistic score in freer program and Italian judge even placed her 4th with clean skate. So that Sarah could be dragged from 4th after short to the 1st place. Irina won world championships a month later with 6.0, but she is not the Olympic champion. If you are truly unprejudiced, do look up ALL cases of doubtful judgment.

Kim Yuna 💙💙the most balanced skater. The textbook technique and beautiful presentation, and she's beautiful too. Alina has great speed, transitions and flexibility but her jumps are not up there..but her Don Quixote at the Olympics is superb.

What makes Yuna Kim even more unbelievable is that she is “artistic”, just like everyone says, but isn’t just that. She’s got amazing skating skills and jump heights/distances unrivaled in her era. As a Korean myself, I am astounded by how such a small country with little population and little to no support for figure skating produced a masterpiece like her. With Beijing 2022 making absolutely no sense at all, I miss Yuna Kim even more.

Yuna is the true winner of Sochi 2014 and everyone knows it.

Yuna was not the best at Sochi. Carolina kostner was much better as was Mao Asada. Too bad she totally screwed up her short.

Yeah and when it comes to Adelina they say :”Adelina did 7 triple jumps. Yuna did 6 triple jumps. Adelina had higher technical score but then they forget that Adelina got the same score as Yuna with a way lower technical content than Yuna in short program”. Even now the skaters can hardly get 74 with only 3T+3T as combo.

@@TheCanadianrockies that's what Brian claimed but it seems like there was trouble between the two. Brian also said he won't take care of Yuna anymore. We would never know if it was a dump or just a bad end of contract.

Not fair since 2014. Backloading all the jumps? With too much prerotation? That should be minus goe. Then we have new score for alina. What quad? With an almost 360 prerotation, its a triple. Eteri girls are great skaters, but the scores inflated too high. And remember, girls, not ladies.

Yuna kim is olympic champ of two times.

I don’t understand how people defend Sochi Gold. Watching Adelina program is like having a music dup over her performance, music 1 way, movement the other way. Nothing was on beat and everything was off-sync. And she stumbled couple times (you can see it in the replay), I thought she wouldn’t even made it to top 4 let alone gold. 😂 If anyone talk to me about Sochi, I only remember YUNA K les miserable and Carolina K program. If they want to rob the gold, at least make it less obvious by giving to someone close to top 3.

out of those 5, Yuna has the best and steady career. Olympic is important, of course. But especially these days, I miss some steady stars like Yuna Mao and Carolina, not pop instant short star.

No me mal interpretes, pero las chicas rusas son maravillosas, en su respectiva epoca y tiempo, pero no han logrado todavia la cantidad de medallas olimpicas, medalas mundiales ni grand prix como yuna kim! literal ella revolucionó el patinaje con su tecnica perfecta, que muchas patinadoras ahora fallan en sus triples lutz! Zagitova es maravillosa pero se retiro enseguida, gano todo lo que pudo, y yuna kim tambien, ganó todas las medallas que existian en ese momento y además debió haber sido campeona olimpica 2014. Algo que Alina no pudo hacer, porque se retiro antes. Solo fue a un solo juego olimpico. No puedes comparar ahora a las chicas rusas que hacen cuadruples cuando en ese tiempo era impensado! Tienes que pensar antes de hablar!

@@sashaxtina Alina and Yuna are the two women in the history of world skating who have a Grand Slam. Just these two women. So there is no need to belittle Alina. Alina's content is more complicated, Yuna skated longer in the absence of competition. They're both real queens.

@@OlyaGroom I absolutely agree with you, and I apologize if I came across as disrespectful to Alina. I really don't feel like I belittled her, rather I just succinctly stated how strongly I feel about Yuna. Alina is absolutely magical and a joy to watch. They are both clearly the best two in this compilation. I was simply relaying my own personal opinion that I believe Yuna to be the best female skater of all time (which is just a matter of personal taste) ... absolutely no disrespect to Alina or any other skater intended. Honestly, I would have been insanely thrilled if Alina had been able to compete in a second Olympics. If she had, she would have been my top pick for sure! I hope this clears things up. There was no shade intended whatsoever. However, I will note that your comment reads as a bit belittling itself, considering your insinuations that Yuna won only due to lack of competition and that Alina's content is more complicated. Perhaps I am misconstruing this? If so, I apologize. They are both queens (and Olympic champions), as you said, so why compare them in this light? They each have a style and grace that is beautifully unique and captivating. Naturally, every FS fan is entitled to their own opinion. I was simply stating mine and made no qualitative reference to Alina's "inferiority" or anything like that. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about her, only praise. I just simply love Yuna. That is literally all I was trying to convey. I hope you understand the point I'm trying to make here. Let's just keep cheering on our favorites and enjoying the beauty these masterpieces produce on ice! :)
