My 21 - KX 450 liked a just the smallest bit of throttle on the starts especially in gear

Stop using throttle and in gear on starts, that's why you're last . 4 strokes like no throttle and in neutral. Let her start on her own , then throttle, click into gear. You'll see much better launches
