Lasso Spinning: How to do the Ocean Wave

Ойын-сауық

I spent a while trying to learn this trick, and I still don't have it perfected.
I owe a debt of gratitude to Angelo Iodice, Rider Kiesner and Loop Rawlins for trying to help me with this trick.
I think the best way to learn this stuff is to spend some time with a rope spinner in person getting the basic idea of the trick. Then you have to go work on it by yourself for about six months. Then go back to the rope spinner you learned from and check with him or her to see if you have it.

I'd love to learn as simple as just a loop out in front or over my head. Every thing I have tried, the rope get twisted up onto itself within a few seconds. I have no idea what I do wrong. The closest thing to success I've ever had, I put a large washer at the end of the rope in my hand, holding only the washer allowing the rope to hang down, and start twirling. The loop stay facing the ground and holding the washer allows the entire rope to spin freely. Simple enough a 4 yr old can do it. But it's child's play compared to what I'd like to do, ironically what I'd be happy to learn is child's play compared to what is in this video. ( chuckles )

I am using Samson Spot Core rope from Western Stage Props. They sell ropes made up, ready to spin. I also painted this one with black light paint.

Ok so I’m sitting in bed right, my little leopard gecko is lying down with me. I notice a large black object on my ceiling ITS A GIANT COCKROACH and I have no problem with insects I hold wasps and things like that. This is my one exception. Because a cockroach on the roof is going to drop down at any moment and fly somewhere. That is terrifying. It did. I put my gecko under my blanket and killed it. What a horrible experience.
