Lasko 3733 Box Fan from 1995 or 1996

Ғылым және технология

An early Lasko model 3733 box fan from the mid 90s, featuring the D blade set and the shaded pole Marco motor. This is a near flawless example of this model and appears to have little to no hours on it. Unfortunately the blades are starting to warp, but with a replacement blade set the unit would be like new.

My uncle still has four of these running strong two are from 1994 -95 that say galaxy by lasko but looks identical to this one except the badge and handle is the strap kind. The other two are 1996-97 which look exactly like this one. I still regularly service them for him at the beginning of fan season for him.

This one is in pristine condition unlike the two late 90s 3733's I got, both of them were found going to waste on the curb along side a Lakewood 200i box fan. They were both seized, and had some hours used on it.

That's the exact same one I have. Mine is also in good condition. Interestingly enough, mine has a different speed indicator dial. Mine has numbers for the speeds instead of letters (it's a 1997-98 as opposed to your 1995-96 model). Be very careful removing the speed indicator dial. The plastic becomes brittle and the tabs that hold the dial will break very easily. It's really a shame that the D blades warp. Mine is warped to the point where it will walk across the floor. I have tried to repair it multiple times but never had success balancing it. This rendition of the 3733 is so much nicer than the new model. It's much quieter and I would argue it moves a higher volume of air if nothing else.

My 1999-2000 3733 has the numbers and those stupid tabs as well. Adding globs of hot clue into the inside of the hub is the best way I've found to balance the blades, but I don't know how to reverse the warpage. The D blade does seem to be quieter than the petal blades and it also seems to have a higher air volume, but the velocity seems superior on the petal blade models.

The only thing that could suggest for "bending" the blade back into a reasonable pitch for any plastic fan blade system is to bulit a jig out of MDF. Making it so the support blocks under each of the blades at various critical spots can be adjusted to the required angle. Of course, building this jig would take a little time, and would have to be adjustable for various blade diameters and fan blade count be fan., along with using a controlible heat gun.

This was the last best Lasko box fan. Some of the early 2000's Laskos were decent, these original 3733's were the last of the good ones.

I do know there are ways to fix warps on plastic blades with heat. I remember a video from a long time ago where someone used heat to adjust the pitch of the flower pedal blade variant, I forget what was used for the source of heat with how long it's been since I last saw that video. Quite a shame that the D blade Lasko fans keep getting harder to find, with some of the existing ones experiencing the issue of the blades warping. At some point I want to obtain one of those D blade Lasko fans.

That's a pretty good fan. I believe we had one growing up too but at that time I didn't have a full interest in fans. Have you tried a heat gun to fix the blades? If you varnish the windings like you said I would like to see that done as I've never herd of that.

I have 6 or 7 of these older Lasko 3733 (and 3723) fans with the D blades. As far as I know, none of them have warped blades, I haven't looked at or used any of them in a couple of years, I guess I need to pull some of my unused Box fans out and check them out. I hope the blades aren't warping on them.

These are big childhood fans to me too , the first one I remember was this same one my mother bought in 1994 and there was another she got in 98. We had 3 of them and I liked them , it's pitiful these are no longer in production and the more the remaining are destroyed.. The more extinct they will become sadly . If only I knew this sooner I definitely would've acquired more of them for prosperity sake , I do have one with a 2015 motor and blade on it and stupidly disposed of the originals .. The performance was certainly better . I hope you can find a way to fix the blade and get working right again , I enjoyed the video bro.

Hi Jordan, I'm so glad you have a Lasko 3733 box fan! It will do an amazing job at keeping your house cool during the summer and it is the best fan on the planet! You should get rid of all your useless and outdated Hampton Bay ceiling fans and replace them all with just one Lasko 3733! Me and my wife Lois love our Lasko 3733 because it moves 8000 CFM of air, which is great because our summers are so hot in Quahog! One time I decided to play a funny prank on my daughter Meg, so I put our Lasko 3733 box fan up to her face and farted into it while it was turned on, and it blew 8000 CFM of my fart air right into her face! She threw up all over her bed and was so mad at me, and it was hilarious! I hope to see more Lasko 3733 videos in the future, Jordan! Have a great day!
