Lasiodora parahybana , LP ,Salmon Pink Birdeater rehouse and care
The iconic Salmon Pink Birdeater or more commonly known as the LP, a South American new world spider from the Northern reaches of Brazil , these are probably the most commonly kept tarantulas in the hobby today, there tolerance of a wide range of living conditions make these perfect for beginners allowing for some mistakes as we learn to care for our new pet.

Anyone I know thinks spiders are disgusting, so I don't bring it up much. It's nice to watch these videos and hear him talk about how beautiful these tarantulas are.

She is lovely 👍
She’s pristine! I feel bad that the prior owner couldn’t keep her. God bless him; I hope his health returns soon. ❤
I got a sling of this tarantula this summer. The container I got mine in was about the size of a film canister. The breeder had an impressive collection for sale but I picked the Brazilian Salmon Pink Bird Eater. The seller said to keep mine in that container for a year, but I'm so glad that I didn't do that. I immediately put mine in a container with some depth & filled it with several inches of dirt. The baby has LOVED IT! It's dug this intricate tunnel system & the entrance to the hole has this ring of dirt around it. There was ZERO of this done in the container it came in. So imo transferring mine has allowed my sling to create what it would've done in nature & that's what I want for it. It sits in the hole a lot & it sits at the entrance a lot as well. It eats pre-killed mealworms. Mine has a huge appetite for such a small sling. I got a Mexican Giant Red Knee at the same time & the Salmon Pink has grown many times faster. We actually got worried because we see the Salmon Pink so much & not the Red Knee that we thought it might have died on us. It didn't it's just a far more reclusive tarantula at this point. It's wild to see the size mine may be one day. It's so small right now lol. Anyways, great video!
What a difference it makes between taking your time and being gentle with them and immediatly cupping them and stressing them out even more - I actually advised Tom Moran to have a look at your channel so he would have less hair-kicking, but he took it as negative critique and dismised it, which is truely a shame. Since I implemented your teachings to my own collection, I've had no escapes, no hair kicking and no defensive posturing. You're truely a credit to the community!

A little tickle and patience goes a long way with a spider :)
Great video. I have one of these. She was in a real bad state when I fell upon her. She had merely an enclosure, no hide, no anything. She was very aggressive as well. Every hair on her butt missing. So I took her on in september, gave her a proper enclosure with three different hides and she's as calm as you can ask for. Lovely species and imo quite easy to care for, as you yourself state in this video. Thank you sharing. And merry christmas. Really felt warm watching this 😊.

Thanks Dave and camera lady. We definitely need to see her first feeding.
She rly is on the exploring side. "No time to settle into the new Home the world is waiting for me"
Wonderful video Dave!! She is absolutely beautiful and a large spider, I had one back in the early 90’s and she grew at an alarming rate! They seem to be very well behaved a little nervous if startled but overall great spiders. She will love her new home Dave and a thanks to you for adopting her in! Camera lady great job and the closing footage superb! Thanks so much guys I really love the L.P’s!!🕷

I have a LP sling and i can only hope for mine to grow into such a beauty. Fantastic information as usual. Her previous owner will surely find comfort In knowing she has a great new home
Hi Dave, have been watching your channel for a while now and at the ripe old age of 66yrs have just got my 1st Tarantula! Is a beautiful 'curly hair' female. Not sure of age but measured total body length about 65mm (if I estimate leg span I'm sure to get it wrong) It was a long drive home and maybe she was stressed because she the just sat in the top corner of the enclosure (same enclosure as the one in this video) for about 3 days, didn't see her move. Next day she had a wander round then sat up on top of her coconut hide. Thought she might be awaiting food so tried large cricket but no interest, will try again in a couple of days. She was being fed 2 large crickets a week hope that will be ok for now. The professional way in which you handle/manage your spiders is a great example to anyone who comes into the hobby. Many thanks for putting out this great content, wishing you and your family (and your spiders) a great festive season.

@@luffebassen Thankyou for the info is greatly appreciated. I have a hygrometer above the water dish in the corner this is the dampest place in the enclosure and reads 75% I have placed another one on top of the mesh cover(back down) at the other end where the hide is this is reading 60%( It would read different inside just wanted a idea) Room temp is 20/21c. Have a small oil filled radiator in the corner of the room on thermostat keeping enclosure area 21/22c. Hope this is OK Thanks again

@@luffebassen Thanks once more for the info, it's very welcome. As someone just starting out always wondering if I'm doing things right, especially as the welfare of any animal in our care is of the highest concern. Put the enclosure on the floor, removed the top to have a really good look around inside and do some clean up. Things looked pretty clean but I did notice the substrate was quite damp(not wet) I have overflowed the water dish once but really only a little. I do remember when I was buying the spider online looking at photos and the substrate was brown in colour and darker around the water dish where it was damp. However thinking back when I collected it, the substrate was black everywhere and the coconut hide was dark at the bottom where it had been absorbing water. I did not think much of it at the time as humidity readings were OK and therefore did not check the substrate. But with a full mesh top I think the 'air humidity' was Ok substrate was too damp?? Have added more substrate (dry coconut fibre) might move her to her new enclosure tomorrow. I have a Exo Terra set up ready as when I decided to get a tarantula a just assumed it would not come with a enclosure. The mesh lid on the one she came in is a little damaged. As a side note I removed the mesh from the ExoTerra and replaced with perspex with vent holes drilled as I'd heard tarantulas can get their feet stuck in the mesh if they climb around the roof, after doing this saw a video on this channel where Dave says it is not necessary but had changed it by then. Thanks again for your help
What well behaved female. Brilliant

I have one from about 7 years now and she survived every conditions, can fast for long time but when she's hungry she will show you waiting by the terrarium door, just like a puppy :D . very nice beginner spider :)
Wow, what a beauty. Thanks for showing her to us, a real treat.
What a sweetie. Thanks for sharing her with us, & being so kind & gentle.
You can super glue a piece of plexiglass to the top of the screen on half of it snd it'll help you out with your humidity alot.
Mine doesn't web that much. She is gorgeous though. She usually just makes beds of web and mounds. She rearranges her enclosure somewhat. Also likes to put dirt in her water dish. Lol.
That's an exceptionally cute spider. Love that coloring.

Mine was eating full grown mice with zero issues. She was a pro at grabbing them at the back of the head. I started feeding mice at about 4 yrs old. She'd eat anything that I dropped in her tamk. I had gotten her as a dime sized 'ling in Feb of 1994. As you had stated, they are easy to care for and very hardy. After all this time and many species later, she's been my favorite. I hope to get another here shortly. I have to wait until my room addon is complete on the house.
Hello great video information and rehouseing Dave

Very nice video of the LP. I got my self a female LP. Over 8 inchs. She very gently with me :)
I so look forward to reach my planned situation with my T's. After they all grow up fully and etc. Having an easy stable +/- routine with minimal maintenance and further apart feedings. Oh the joy of this hobby.
I’ve got a female LP, she’s lovely but she can definitely be unpredictable lol. She’s a voracious eater to the point she tries to eat water when I mist her enclosure lol I rarely handle her mainly for her own sanity and comfort but a couple times she’s scared me with her speed 😅. She’s usually so slow and cautious but sometimes (I never know when) she has these bolts of speed!! And her fangs are HUGE haha. But I love her nonetheless
Stunning sp , their great , bomb proof , such fast growers , thanks for the vid
What a beautiful and gentle giant she is indeed. It must have broken the heart of the pre-owner. Hope, he'll recover in Spain. Thank You so much for sharing!
first girl i got, its genuinely one of the best species to have.
This is a really beautiful lasiodora parahybana 👍 A stunner! I have only a lasiodora striatipes in my collection, also a beautiful thing. Nice to see a common spider like L. parahybana on you channel. Great video as always 👌

amazing video y’all, thanks for sharing your ventures with us and teaching along the way.
Got to love a beautiful LP. Never had any issues with humidity and mesh tops even with high humidity as you get a decent airflow, which I found critical on chams and tree boas, ok I had spray bars in mine on timers but as you said as long as keeping an eye on the humidity I find overall much healthier environment

Hello Dave once again a very nice video with an amazing beautiful animal. i always find your terrariums very well set up and largely species appropriate. here is a little suggestion from me that you can think about if you want. I would love it if you would show after a rehousing video, how the animals have settled in their new home. i think about two to three weeks later. i would find that very interesting. I look forward to your next video. Greetings from Bavaria.
Saw an adult female LP at an expo and I couldn't believe the size! I went home with a sling about 1/2 an inch. Cant wait for it to grow up.
Awwww! Her can be fuzzy! ❤️❤️❤️
What a beauty 😍
We haven't seen a rehouse in a while so I was really pleased to see this one!! My LP has just moulted recently. The size they get after each moult is impressive! Loved the video mate and the smellavision had me chuckling lol atb!
love the tank setup..... thanks for the video!
Mine is equally as calm and gentle. But man I tell you it has one hell of a feed response! 1/2 teddy bear 1/2 monster.

oh, I love her ! well taken care of !
Whenever you’re building these things, I always imagine myself as a tiny little person living inside that world. (Not with the spider, mind you.) So cool.
Beautiful LP! All the best to her former owner 🍀 My adult female LP isn’t as nice as this lovely lady. She doesn’t throw hair immediately, but strikes at everything, due to her crazy feeding response 😅 even the water isn’t save when I fill her water bowl. If I want to tidy up her enclosure, I have to put a large tupper container over her. She webbed up everything on the floor, doesn’t dig a lot and she prefers dry spots over wet ones. They’re great „goliaths“ for beginners.
She's a beauty. Congrats!
Brilliant, Stunning spider! Could watch a spider like this for hours.
Awesome video, always happy to see one of my favorite species featured!
Best part about your videos is the head scratch at the beginning , as if you are clue less what to make 😅.......lovely enclosure....lovely decoration with moss and plant 🪴
Got my first LP just a few weeks ago. Mine is still orange and small but I can't wait for her to grow. Being small still she made a burrow in the back corner and she's a pet hole for now.
I really would love to have one of these! Such a beautiful spider!
What a beauty! Lucky girl to come live with you two!

Well that is a lovely spider, and I liked the quiet moment at the end. Happy Christmas, my friends.
I just love watching the amount of care you give to putting together these enclosures. So relaxing to watch ❤ And as a side note: Dave, the way YOU interact and handle the tarantulas make them all seem like beginner spiders. You have such a way of showcasing and emphasizing their strengths. It shows precisely that, no matter the size, reputation, or species of animal, if you treat them with respect you will get respect in return
