A "fix-it ticket" with no points is much better than the fine for a speeding ticket! Just use them as "parking sensors," which are NOT illegal.

What would be better than a laser jammer is a full compliment of AGM 88 Harm or Hellfire missles. Pisses me off everytime I see a cop running radar who is himself running 10-15mph over the speed limit. They feel they have the 'right' to break the very law they are trying enforce. Besides for the most part speeding tickets are not about safety, they are designed as a large, easy source of income for towns and cities.

That's actually how they catch the worst speeders. They put themselves at the upper limit of how fast you can travel (4-5mph over posted limit) and if you pass them you're in trouble.

Nice! That should be a massive upgrade for you then, haha. :D Jammers are definitely next! The WSP likes to use laser all up and down the highways and the city police like to use it as well. I've been shot both in the front and rear around Seattle so it'd be good to have protection for both sides of your car. ;)

But if your driving around. 75 mph and you get laserd just let off the gas then flip off the jammer .so he can get a read on you slowing down. .

It might be wise to ask the police department if they have been issued a license to operate the laser devices in court. The frequency of light used for speed detection is also used by opthalmologists to treat some eye diseases. Consider this to be a guy on the side of the road playing doctor without a license.Technically the police are guilty of the same crime that the FAA charges people with that shine lasers into the cockpit of airplanes which have an effect on the eyesight of the pilot. My guess nobody ever mentioned these details in a court of law.

Not to get off the subject of this thread too much, but I wanted to ask something. Yesterday I was on a long rural highway. Speed limit 65, but I was going 60. My Whistler gave me a K band alert which turned out to be about 3 miles from the target (a state police car in the median facing towards traffic). It was a low signal until I crested a hill past some trees then the signal was maxed, but still a mile before I saw the cop. I was wondering if when the signal maxed if I would have been in the clocking range or is there a certain footage when that happens?

Not to get into lawyering too much, but the question i always have is: What if you are traveling through a state? Obviously these are hard wired so you cant just get out and remove them easily. Just like anything else illegal about your car ( say dark tint that legal in your state but not legal in the next state or license plate front/back vs not required in your state ).

Also I would like to know what if any limitations the guns have and where the are best suited for (terrain, weather etc). Beltronics of Mississauga, was a radar detector manufacturing company owned by the wife of a former mayor of Toronto (Lastman). Ontario is a detector banned province. Way back I was arrested for messing with radar speed detectors. I stood by the side of the road, about a 100 yards from the cop, shaking my ring of keys. The cop (police lay charges in Ontario) and I went to court. He gave his story, and on cross examination my lawyer asked had the cop ever said the radar guns can only detect vehicles. He confirmed I was on foot and only saw me from his car. The cop also said he couldn't prove what my keys did as he couldn't shake my keys and observe the trap at the same time. The judge, in summing up, said he had heard hundreds of police state that traps only could detect vehicles and he said he believed the mass against a single cop - and found me not guilty.

That irony also means that my car dealership (Canada, east coast) will install them as such, so I don't violate my car's warranty, and if pulled over, a simple tap of the button means I don't have to get a $1k fine and have my car towed and have the jammers removed. It's not the hardware that's illegal now, it's the software running it. Oh and I also get parking sensors haha.

Came here looking for Canada info, but just FYI when you say it's a fix it ticket with no points, that's not necessarily true. In Colorado it's a Class 2 Traffic Offense, that's the same severity as Careless or Reckless driving, and you can face 10-90 days in jail for a first offense for any Class 2 Traffic Offense. Now most likely you'll get off with a fine and the offense could have a 3 point assessment (42-2-127 (r) Conviction of violations not listed in this subsection (5) while driving a moving vehicle... 3 points)

If you use your jammers incorrectly like that then yes. The trick is to quickly slow down and disable the jammers and allow him to get a speed. It's normal to sometimes need an extra second or two to get a speed on a vehicle so as long as you use your jammers properly, he won't even know that you have them.

A detector in the windshield is too visible so an installed unit would make more sense. Just in case, some guys with installed units will carry a cheap portable one in case they get detected and hand it over in that scenario. Otherwise, the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) will confiscate the car. BTW Your videos are very informative and very well done.

Ah yeah, a hidden remote unit would be the way to go. An STi-R Plus is your more affordable option. Good range and GPS lockouts, but not so good blind spot filtering. The Stinger VIP is your other option and it's the whole package with good blind spot filtering, but it costs more. I've been running the Stinger lately and have been quite impressed. Had some pretty big distance saves yesterday. :)

While both charges were reduced to 10 and 14 over, I had to pay via the stress of court proceedings and loss of my time, as well as approx $2k in lawyer fees per citation. If a cop believes you're speeding, you're gonna have to pay one way or the other.

2:07 - I know for sure that is not the extent of the punishment in Colorado. Your car can be impounded on the side of the road, and yes you must "fix it" but they won't let you drive it until it's fixed. I did a ride along with my CSP friend and asked him that exact question. I would imagine the penalties vary from state to state, it's not always a "small ticket". You can drive away with a speeding ticket, but you can't drive away with "illegal equipment". I would say that makes an illegal equipment ticket worse than a speeding ticket, IMO. Sucks I live in CO (not really). But it's good to know you can just switch it off, slow down, and that works. I never wanted to risk it and find out the hard way. When I get my new car it might be time for a laser jammer = ]

Sigma Safety Corp. Well, i just spent a few minutes looking on google, and a post from 2012 said that they were legal to install but illegal to use, but then i found a post from 2015 saying "There is no federal law in Canada against the ownership or use of a laser jammer. It is simply an infrared transceiver (receive and transmit with laser diodes) using Class 1M eye-safe pulsed laser with 904nm wavelength."

DreadlockDrummer The act of using it to intentionally interfere with a police officer's duties is an offense. It actually has nothing to do with the jammer itself, but rather the act of jamming police LIDAR, therefore effectively interfering with the police's ability to do their job.

The ALP are actually parking sensors and totally legal to install. They come with firmware that allows you to switch (instantly) between jamming and parking modes. So this means you can not only get them legally installed, but the hardware itself is not illegal either, anywhere in Canada or the US. I'm sure there's a way they can get you to court for it if they suspect you used it for jamming, but just thinking about their legal responsibility in proving you actually jammed them (they have to prove you DID jam them, it's not just assumed you did because you could have), I think we're safe with ALP for a while. I haven't ordered mine yet, but I'm going to get the optional bluetooth unit so it just goes to my phone instead of having friggin sirens and lights going off all the time.

Why are radar detectors only illegal in Virginia? I remember going to Florida with my Uncle and when entering Virginia it was the only state where they would pull you over if you have one. The will confiscate radar detectors in Virginia but only if you are using one. They have some sort of signature that gives them away and I have heard of some devices being mistaken as radar detectors but not confiscated (after concluding that it is not a radar detector). They will not stop you if you have one not powered on but take it down and put it away until you leave Virginia.

The video on the British laser jammer law missed a number of points. In the UK using a jammer is not a traffic offense , it's 'perverting the course of justice', like lying under oath in court, but the usual penalty is only months in prison not the 14 year maximum. If the police suspect jamming (no speed reading) a lorry takes your car, impounded, to the police garage for a full search. If a fixed speed camera catches someone and the driver gets someone else to claim they were driving and take the penalty that is also 'perverting' and 2 members of parliament have gone to prison for doing it. In the small UK GPS mapping is so good you can get devices that show the speed limit for that exact position on the road next to your precise speed, no need to be over the limit.

Fortunately they use the Kustom ProLaser III which the ALP does very well against. I just got hit with that gun yesterday up here in WA State and no problem with the ALP. Against Vascar, you're right. A laser jammer wouldn't help. Fortunately there's other tools such as Waze so you can have multiple tools to help build up the layers of protection.
