He literally did everything you can do on a court and without a doubt he was the toughest player ever. Check out his back injury. I am also halfway through Deep Space 9. Another good show but still lacking. I don't know. After that I have to watch Voyager, the Animated Series, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds. Sounds like a lot but I am determined to watch all Star Trek. Then I will start in on Star Wars.

I was around when these guys were playing and actually got to see Larry bird play a couple of times in the arena. Every time he stepped on the court, you knew something special was going to happen, and it always did. I love seeing young people discover Larry Bird and some of the other players from the late 70s & 80s. That’s when Bird and Magic saved the NBA. I would suggest that you keep reacting to Larry Bird because, number one you will see how absolutely fantastic he is, but also you will see the highest basketball IQ of any player ever. Honestly… I’ll bet you’ll end up getting hooked. Really enjoyed your reaction.

Excellent reaction guys. Unlike some others, you paid attention to the details, his passes, the alley-oop 3 pointer, etc. I watched the NBA from the 70s until the modern era, and IMO Larry Bird is the best player ever, based on his career from 1981-1987. And these are years with Dr. J, Michael Jordan, Magic, Isiah Thomas, Hakeem, Kareem, Malone, Barkley, etc. And your reaction to the crowd rushing the court- yes, the NBA (and society) was very different back then. Teams actually played defense, hard physical defense. And hard fouls, enough to hurt players. And fans weren't rich people paying hundreds of dollars. Ticket prices for the Lakers at the Forum in 1985 started at $9.50, playoff tickets $25-35.

Look at that crowd at Boston Garden at the end of the video.... Larry had retired from the NBA in aug 1992. This was feb 1993, to retire his number. Sold out arena, standing room only, Magic Johnson flew cross country to be there... and there was no game that night. Larry sold out the garden for a 90 minute number retirement ceremony

Magic & Larry, resurrected the game of basketball......My dad loved basketball, but stopped watching, until the competition between Johnson & Bird was highlighted......What my Dad used to say, about Larry's game, is that it reminded him of someone, who was not only playing basketball, but also, volleyball, dodgeball, hockey, baseball, football, soccer, & strategic chess, all at the same time, and was what made him so great 😊He certainly was one of the most unique and gifted players, I have ever watched! (((Loved your reaction guys))) 😊

Bird was tough and focused. When he came back into the game, he had a fractured cheek bone, a concussion and double vision. The league couldn't stop him, so they mugged him and hard fouled him, in hopes to hurt him enough to get him out of the games. When he went to shoot his free throws, the crowd used to hold up life size cardboard cutouts of women wearing bikinis, in order to distract him. LEGENDARY!!!

3:28. Notice he didn't step back into the 3pt line before taking the shot. Back then many players forgot it was there because the 3pt line was a new concept. Most of them back in college played with only 2 pt shots. Think about how different that is today. Curry focuses on 3pt shots. They didn't back then.

"When Jordan played against you, he make you look slow, when Bird played against you, he made you look stupid" -James Worthy (Idk if the quote was fully correct or not lol)

Every amazing past that people freak out about it's only possible because the rest of the team is on point with Larry they know where he will be and they know what he will do. They're not given that credit enough

The behind the backboard shot did not count because of the Chamberlain rule. Wilt would station himself on the side and just behind the backboard. He would then reach out with those long arms catch the ball with one hand, reach around and toss the ball into the hoop. The backboard shielded him. Shots from behind the backboard were outlawed because of this. Great shot though.

Bird was the most complete basketball player in the NBA's history bar none. Was slow, clumsy, and awkward but always got the job done. Further proof was how he and the Celtics swept Jordan and the Bulls in playoff games.
